Could someone explain to me how the berserk form actually works??

I get it, it was caused due to pomegranates spell going out of control from interacting with the soul jam, but is it like a form he can actively call upon or does he have to be cursed every time just to use it..

OR

Does he have to be in such a terrible emotional state to where that can just actually happen to him without him realizing or even trying to bring that out

I was sitting on this for a while because originally i was just going to reblog with my thoughts in the tags, but something just made me wanna return to this and write something longer.

I wil say that im pretty bad at making theories on what could happen because I do sometimes get ahead of myself but i just wanted to try and write my thoughts down.

Unfortunatley, it seems that the berserk form is a one time thing caused by pomegranate's spell (sad, cause I really liked the idea of him using this form against Mystic Flour).

So its just something that happened from being cursed and not something he could call upon, cause otherwise i'd think he use it more often (I do think he would have used it against Clotted Cream as well in Oddessy).

I would stop here, but what you said got me thinking about exactly why this happened.

In my opinion, long story short: The soul jam was trying to protect its weilder, but Dark Cacao was in such a bad state it channeled into this berserk form.

I'm one of those who believe that the soul jams have some form of sentience, and i think Dark Cacao's soul jam realized the danger it was in.

I dont exactly know what kind of spell Pomegranate was trying to put on Dark Cacao, but i do think that it was either a corruption spell, or a kill spell, based off what Pomegranate told Dark Choco when she was casting her magic on Dark Cacao.

In both cases, this would eventually lead to the soul jam being taken by the Cookies of Darkness, so the soul jam would try and prevent the spell from being successful so it wouldnt be taken.

I think what the soul jam was planning to do was to do a magical sort of barrier that would prevent the spell from going any further, kind of like a shield on Cacao's soul/mind/whatever would have been affected by the spell.

But- I do think in order for the powers to work as intended, both the soul jam and the weilder have to be in some sort of harmony.

Dark Cacao wasnt. He was under great stress (I do think Affogato put some sort of magic on him), and he just realized how he hurt Dark Choco. On top of that, the spell Pomegranate put on him had most likely already done some damage, probably weakening his resolution.

So what originally was going to just be to block the spell from corruption/killing Dark Cacao, but Dark Cacao was so low that all his simmering negative emotions channeled into the berserk form.

Those are my thoughts on it. Sorry for putting such a long post in your reblogs but I wanted to give my thoughts.

Adding onto this. At least on the emotional trigger type thing. In a way the fact it happened when he was so low one could somewhat explain why it hasn't showed up in so long lore wise since he has been improving for the most part. The only other times where he would be emotionally extreme/unstable long enough for it to flare up being the loss of the cacao warriors in the beast yeast ep or maybe odyssey ep 1 with his crashout though timewise it was probably short.

If DCacao was able to tap into idk if he would particularly want to. Transformation wise it seems extremely painful. Him likely in the scene screaming in pain from his limbs *literally* turning into dust and his appendages being disconnected from his body.

I like to imagine that returning from this form is extremely taxing on the body (and mind of course) . Essentially leaving him vulnerable afterwards.

Theres also the matter of how conscious he is during it and if were going along with the idea that the curse affacted him and the soul jam on some double soul wave length type situation than it could play on that.

For example while emotional distress is a trigger for the curse if the soul jam is nearby it can both pos and neg affacts.

When nearby if the soul jam doesn't see any immediate threats its able to fend off the curse better however on the flipside knowing that the while in the form he has increased durability and endurance may force a transformation if it means saving its user. As for when he is away from the soul jam or at the very least not super close by it the form while easier to trigger is slowly to get going since it doesn't have the soul jam's curse point and energy to siphon and anchor to. He likely also less conscious of his actions. Due to it pushing his own thoughts to the subconscious while also making outside sources harder to hear.

Idk i personally hc that he lowkey got multiple consciouses (not his own) that speak to him [the dragons, the soul jam, potentially the other soul jam users if thier resonated w/ eachother].

Theres a lot you could do with it though i feel it has most potential pre-awakened since hed not only have less opportunities to trigger it being in a healthier and improving state but also the high likelihood that post awakened its likely got cleansed during the process of doing so and if not it being a extremely risky thing to tap into due to its affacts on him mentally and physically.

Id love to see some other characters interacting with dark cacao while hes severely affected by it though. Especially the other ancients as they lowkey each other support systems when thier actually all together.

This creature tends to commonly be active during the night as it prefers the more quiet environment the time of day brings.

Its tail is often where is mouth is placed on its body and thus often will have to move it towards the head when communicating. While it has the ability to move its mouth anywhere on its body it prefers to keep it as far away from its head due to the uncomfortable familiarity it gives.

Been awhile since ive posted. Slowly but surely i am figuring out how i want to render stuff on procreate. Final for my art class was simply a digital illustration so i drew my tabaxi who seems to gain more neck floof every drawing

The thing ontop of thier head is a mask covering the orb that sits inside thier head. The physical form they take shifting the instincts they would have had without it amd thus has a need to keep is hidden for what it does to things that reach it
