Hey everyone! Just wanted to announce that I am deleting all of my resources of Sara Tomko, deleting the reblogs of her to indigenousrph, and deleting her, of course, off of my directories. I would ask that anyone looks if you reblogged any of my packs of her, and delete them if you did.

Sara claimed, back in 2017, to be Cherokee and Blackfoot. I can no longer find the source on her specifically claiming Cherokee and Blackfoot, but if you google her name with Once Upon A Time, you will see articles praising Once Upon A Time for hiring an actual Native actress to play a Native character (Tiger Lily). And yes, to repeat that, Sara Tomko played Tiger Lily in Once Upon A Time, a Native (specifically Blackfoot) character.

I was then, today, reading an interview she did last year, where she says in part (the entire interview is linked in the source link below so you can read it if you want but I’m not copying and pasting the whole interview):

“I am not a part of a tribe or a community,” Tomko explains, “and so it’s respectful to acknowledge and showcase that there are so many wonderful native actors on this show. Chris has done an incredible job, being so inclusive to that community, and writing so respectfully and authentically”

So yup, got a pretendian on our hands, Sara Tomko is a pretendian (though a strange one in that she used to claim it, and now no longer claims it). I would encourage not making resources of her or using her as a fc given her involvement in whitewashing Tiger Lily, but if you do … at the very least do not claim it is Native representation.

introducing the indigenous peoples server!

this server is run by indigenous people only  ━  this is where you can ask questions related to indigeneity as a whole and in general (be sure to specify region!), ask about rp related issues or inquiries, how best to handle things, increase your education and understanding of indigenous people around the world, and find ways to support the indigenous people in your area and beyond. 

lately myself and other indigenous muns have dealt with a huge influx of anons asking questions, expressing concerns, and being confused about what to do when it comes to writing indigenous characters, being an admin in a rp and fostering the inclusion of indigenous characters, etc. and sometimes, it’s hard to answer with different points of view from different indigenous people! or it becomes repetitive, and search functions on blogs don’t always work as well as one would hope.

so myself, @olivaraofrph / @indigenousrph, and @yinsnezha / @ladysgodiva came together to create the indigenous peoples server! this server has an open discussion channel, but also specifically channels to ask your questions, ask for advice on incidents, and channels for issues related to pretendians, and psa’s that indigenous muns write.

we welcome everyone to join the server, and for any indigenous muns who are not already a part of it, you are allowed to become an admin upon entering the server to answer questions alongside us, just put yes on the introduction form that asks you if you want to be an admin.

Thank You anon for requesting this list I had fun listing them and I’m glad you asked for it and I am glad I can help you. This list is in no particular order just the ones that came to my head as I went and the ones I had in my gif hunt tag, some of these may be the rpc definition of dark skin which is anyone darker than Michael B. Jordan but I had to put them on this list because the rpc really need to know people darker than Michael B. Jordan exist, cause with the way y’all covet light skin fcs, y'all act like they don’t. I will not put this under a read more. the rpc will look at it and acknowledge that people with darker skin exist and since I got a lot of this list from my gif hunt tag, best believe a majority of them have resources and the rest need resources to be made so you have no excuse not to use this list to your advantage and utilize it.
