youโre surrounded by nothing but never ending forest. itโs dark and very misty and usually you have the stars to keep you company but tonight thereโs none in sight. yet itโs a very clear, night sky.
something feels off. you want tom โ no, scratch that. you need tom.
he was right in front of you, holding your hand in gentle reminder that he was still with you, as he was doing his best in leading you out of wherever you were. and then you closed your eyes and he was gone. โtom?! tommy where are you?!โ you yell out into the mist. โplease just, just tell me where you are and iโll come to youโ your heartbeat is speeding up with every second you donโt hear his poetic voice. youโre worried something got him โ a pack of wolves, a grizzly bear, a cougar... no. no, you canโt think like that. not right now. but your mind canโt help but to jump to the worst conclusions.
you hear something rustling and you immediately do a one eighty to face the sound, your only thought being please donโt let this be the end. not until i find my tommy.
then you hear... panting?
a white dog suddenly emerges. itโs white with a little bit of brown to match itโs beautiful brown eyes. very similar to... tomโs. you bend down on your knees in front of the dog, already knowing. โyou gonna lead me to tom?โ you ask in the softest voice you can muster up from being so afraid. with a wag of the dogโs tail and a bark it begins walking away from you.
and you follow.
โwhere are you leading me?โ right about now is when you wish you could talk to animals. youโre walking for a couple minutes and you get more and more concerned with every footstep you take. the dog starts barking repeatedly as it runs ahead of you. โslow down, pup!โ you focus on keeping up, trying not to lose sight or think about the possibility of tripping. finally, youโre out of the thick forest and into a small opening. and thatโs when you see the dog, still barking and standing next to someone.
that someone is tom, youโre boyfriend.
โoh my god, tom!โ you rush over to him as quickly as possible and kneel down next to him. heโs bruised up and bleeding pretty badly. you gently put your cold palm on tomโs cheek, not caring if you get anything on it. โtom? tom, itโs me. are you awake? tom?โ no response. this time you try shaking him awake gently. โtom! tom, please wake up. i-i need you- please...โ still no response.
you look over and see that the dog is gone and that itโs just you and tom in his horrible state, surrounded by a forest of unfamiliarity. you rest your head on his shoulder and begin sobbing. you just want tom back.

you jolt awake and sit up. youโre still sobbing your heart out but something feels different about the atmosphere. youโre in your room; not a dark forest; underneath your cozy blankets; not sat on the hard ground; and thereโs a gentle, reassuring hand stroking up and down your back so gently; itโs tom. you were just dreaming.
you turn to look at him, โoh tom, youโre okayโ you immediately lean over and take him into your arms. you breathe in his calming scent of cologne as his arms feel like home around your upset figure. he chuckles softly, โof course iโm okay, baby. you were just having a really bad dreamโ he speaks so softly and you can genuinely say that youโve missed his voice that creates butterflies with however long you were asleep for. โy-you were gone, you left me alone. a-and then, and-โ
โshh, lovie,โ tom presses gentle, loving kisses to the side of your neck. โโm right here, โnd โm not leaving you. not now, not ever. i promise youโ you nod against his shoulder, your heartbreaking sobs finally coming to a stop. โhow about i make you some tea?โ
โtom, itโs like,โ you glance up at your bedside clock. โthree in the morningโ you giggle tiredly. โi know, but anything to get my love all cozy againโ you smile softly to yourself. tom really is the best boyfriend you couldโve ever asked for. โmm, okay... can we just stay like this for a bit longer?โ
