Start making things yourself!
From what I can tell, many people on here dream about homesteading or living on a farm someday, but there's so much "homestead" stuff that you can do right where you are, even in a little apartment!
Make your own jam, bake your own bread, Make your own yogurt/cheese, Knit a scarf, Embroider a dish towel, Make soap, Make vinegar, Ferment things, Grow herbs in your windowsill and actually keep them alive, Learn to mend clothing!
I feel as though we are so disconnected from how our food and possessions are made that we don't realize that we could create them ourselves. Especially food items. I've heard "wait you can make yogurt??" so many times, as though these things are elements that can only be bought as is in the store. Sure you may need some new supplies, but everything you can buy at the grocery store, people were making in their own homes at one point.
There is something so grounding about cutting into a loaf of bread made by your own hands, wearing a scarf knit by your own fingers, washing up with soap made in your own kitchen, etc. Building these skills is one more step to being self sufficient, and none of it is as hard as it seems. Use the internet to your advantage, there are so many tutorials for anything you could ever want to learn! 🌾🍃💐
