Regarding the last ask: why do you think Billboard finds Jungkook’s #1 for seven more legitimate than jimin’s? It is quite literally the same achievement they mention for jk but not jimin.

Sigh.
Again, we see Scooter and Bang PD highlighted in an American-based publication highlighting primarily American-based talents/rainmakers, and for BTS, the only example listed is the project handled by the American label of HYBE of which Scooter is responsible, a project that had its charting achievements more supported by American streams (and not the Chinese cash boogeyman), streams which Billboard had earlier last year weighted higher as more reflective of American music consumption... I could go on.
Honestly, this isn't something I had to think about. It's just obvious to me and why the question of "why" doesn't really cross my mind. But you asked a fair question.
It's obviously not the same achievement to Billboard given their reception to Jimin's win vs. Jungkook's. That doesn't change anything though. They'll have to get used to the idea for when Jimin gets his next #1 for PJM2.
And then Jungkook. And on and on it goes.
It's simple. Scooter was involved. They played the US game the way western artists play it. Scooter has power here. He's a sh*tty person and I hate that Hybe and Bang PD stopped so low as to use Scooter's tactics and honestly JK took the blame for all the sh*t. When in fact it was all on Scooter and Bang.
The organic success of BTS that we are so prideful of was simply thrown out the window. In order to what??? It's infuriating and people need to stop pretending that all of those streams were organic. Because they were not. They simply played the US music industry's game.

This is a dead topic but I’ll give this one last go for the heck of it.
The ‘tactics’ they ‘stopped (sic) so low’ to use are tactics BTS has already used before for the English trilogy, (remember, another release that was promoted mostly via American streaming and playlisting, radio, and remixes), but just more of the same since Billboard completely eliminated D2C sales. These are the same tactics widely used on American charts and have been used by BTS numerous times before. Since Dynamite, they have always played the US industry’s game, it’s just that the tool the fandom has to exert more direct control (D2C sales), was no longer available. And in Jungkook’s case, it was simply an American release that was treated like an American release.
Despite all the whining from PJMs and other akgaes, putting forward conspiracy theories for what is plain Jane obvious.
You’re thoroughly misguided if you’re here talking about ‘organic’ success for BTS, or that this changes anything significant about the nature of their success. Feel free to read the post on my Masterlist about ‘organic success’, because you’re reblogging someone who thinks there is no such thing as ‘organic success’ on the charts to begin with because excess is what you’ll see on the charts in any case.
The fact BTS have amassed the size of the fandom they have, starting from the literal bottom, is all the proof of their organic success they need regardless of what they do on the charts. None of the methods for Seven were new, sinister, or controversial. It’s 2024 and it’s either people get with the program and realize the world they are in, or continue whining about what has been business as usual for BTS American releases for about 3 years now.
I have no qualms with people hating Scooter, but his involvement is simply because Jungkook’s releases were handled by the American label in HYBE which Scooter runs.
this is just too hilarious and insane. not one bts release, no not even dynamite, had the same promotion that jungkook as a soloist is getting. i'm baffled. the revisionism is funny and the ability to coddle bang pd, scooter, and jungkook's decision to pander to the western industry to be the biggest popstar at the expense of no one is crazy. the reason they gas jungkook up so much is because they invested a boatload of money in him and they want to make it back. it'll be a sight to see just how different bts' first track back as a group will be promoted in comparison to any of jungkook's releases because trust that scooter will not have as much play in it when all the members are giving their input.
