Part 2 of my Zutara/Pride & Prejudice mash-up. The first one was fun to do, so why not a part 2? Also the idea of Jet-Wickham was too tempting. (And Aang-Collins–sorry Aang, it had to be this way. We still love you)

And the famous hand stretch scene, aah. A brilliant detail. Again, love this movie.

I recently saw the 2005 Pride and Prejudice movie for the 872938th time and felt the impelling urge to doodle a P&P/Zutara mashup. Elizabeth/Katara and Darcy/Zuko blend together so well I think no explanation is needed.

the reason “you rise with the moon, i rise with the sun” is taken as a zk line is because, inherent symbolism aside, it’s a statement that wasn’t at all necessary for zuko to make.

zuko has already defeated katara and captured aang. in fact, for someone as mission-oriented as zuko in book one, he should have grabbed aang and left the minute katara got knocked out. the natural segue here would’ve been for the scene to end with katara opening her eyes to find both aang and zuko gone. 

instead the writers chose to have zuko say a line here - and not just a victorious villain line, as would be expected at this moment, but a line specifically about him and katara, one that illustrates the seemingly dichotomous nature of their relationship. and then they decided to have this line be delivered in the spirit oasis, the place where tui and la are located. you know, the literal physical manifestation of yin and yang, the representation of two apparently-dichotomous-but-really-complementary parts becoming a whole?  

so not only does zuko’s line mark katara and himself as parallels, and therefore equals, it also directly connects this symbolism - a dichotomy coming together to become a duality - to their relationship. the only purpose of this line is to indicate zuko and katara’s positions, not just in relation to the narrative, but in relation to each other. 

and that is why it is such a god-tier zk line.
