it’s honestly baffling to me how for some people an age gap between lux and jinx would be a problem and then they go and say “oh lux loves Sylas”, when they have an even greater age gap.
I honestly respect people more when they say lux’s love interest is ezreal because at least they’re in the same age group and have interactions in alternative universes, the gotcha here is some turn to Sylas because lux has explicitly interacted with him and shown him kindness. For these people if they go with ezlux they would have to acknowledge the fact that they haven’t interacted yet in the precious lore and most of the clues we have or their dynamic is in some other skin lines. And if they accept ezlux they would have to accept lightcannon too, since the most we have of them is in also some skin line away from lux’s core story, they can’t beat lcs over this, so now they agree on Sylas because he does know lux.
Also the only moment where these antis agree on ezlux is ironically in the star guardian universe, “oh they know each other there, oh lux blushed” and the only point they try to make is how ridiculous lightcannon is. Like bffr the only couple riot favors more than the arcane ones is ezlux, and ezlux has more in common with lightcannon than it does with sylux
Now with riot’s obsession with ezlux, they use it and timebomb as a gotcha for their matching romantic wr skins, and i think some people really enter into psychosis and suddenly see lightcannon as a straight couple and that’s why they see us as some kind of insane people.
Wildrift never uses queer couples, Caitlyn is without vi in this new ezlux skin, and they would definitely not like lc interfering in their straight affairs, I don’t know why some people use ekko and ezreal to try to prove jinx and lux’s heterosexuality when point proven, they’re both main girls, riot would never let them believe otherwise because homophobia is still so rampant in the world
Honestly those people genuinely believe that we’re all racist and they forget our ship is a lesbian ship who’s automatically scowled in a lot of countries, we know our future, the most popular pairings in fandom are also queer couples who never stood a chance against their het love interests, and with the increase in homophobia across the world I think we really need to stop the gaslighting in the lc fandom, people are always telling us how we are so crazy and lc will never be canon, well we need to accept firstmost that lightcannon suffers from a rampant homophobia that is not acknowledged in neither the arcane nor the league fandom.
The bottom line is homophobia. This time. Every time. Always.
I'm out here on reddit with a 'bisexual woman' who is arguing blue in the face that Lux and Jinx are both "canon cishet" with full chest, while also saying Riot hasn't revealed them as such (so...not canon, then?) while also arguing that Lightcannon shippers are fine to ship it, while also thumping the 'canon' tub to even try to 'prove' that Ezlux is canon in Star Guardian and Valoran Town and Lightcannon is not.
Girl really out here claiming to be bi while doing the homophobes' job for them..

The bottom line is homophobia.
Because they need Lightcannon to be invalidated and illegitimate. It can't even be allowed scraps or crumbs. They'll try to invalidate even theoretical Lightcannon existing in any universe, while still saying we can ship what we want.
As long as it's invalid and only in our heads in every imaginable way, otherwise it's suddenly their problem. It's not enough for it not to be canon in Arcane, it can't be allowed to exist anywhere.
The same people will say they're not doing queer erasure, it's 'just canon'.
Sorry, if they actually believed that, it'd be very, very easy for them to ignore us and walk away. But they sure seem to be bad at letting it go.
I'll be realistic. Lightcannon has less crumbs than the het ships, especially now, but it has its crumbs. This is how Rito works. They bait every ship because ships are profitable and they keep fans engaged. And they will dole out crumbs to keep LGBT fans engaged, very carefully, around China and now around MAGA-murca.
The people who desperately need to deny that any shipping basis for Lightcannon exist at all while holding up a single het blush per universe as proof of ownership are just as delulu as any of us could ever be and full on engaging in queer erasure.
