michael had been wandering near the edge of the snowmobile trail, hands tucked into his jacket pockets, breath fogging the air as the engines hummed in the distance, when he spotted her—zoe, helmet tucked under her arm, dark hair a sharp contrast against the endless white, one boot already resting on the side of a snowmobile like she’d been born to look that cool in subzero temperatures. he slowed without meaning to, a small grin pulling at his mouth as he approached, the crunch of snow under his boots announcing him before he spoke. “of course you’re out here doing the most,” he said lightly, nodding toward the machine. “i was starting to think i was the only one crazy enough to want to race across the arctic at this hour.” he stopped a step away, eyes flicking from her to the snowmobile and back again. “so… be honest,” michael added, voice warm despite the cold, “is this a solo mission, or is there room for one more? because i’d love to join you, if you’ll have me.” @blvdzoe

zoe knew she wouldn't want to miss the only activity on the itinerary for the day. waking up early, already bundled up in her snowsuit, she made her way to the snowmobiles. the swedish instructors let her know that they'd be trying to wait a little bit longer in case more people wanted to show up. in no time, she heard a familiar voice behind her. her eyes rolled and a smile tugged at her lips as michael teased her. "damn, when i asked for competition, i wasn't expecting them to send you this fast," she quipped. "that depends... i haven't seen you drive one of these bad boys yet, so i don't even know if i'm in safe hands. let's race. the winner gets bragging rights and get's to do a few laps tandem. i wouldn't mind having you behind me."

yes, if i let him tell it, you're his favorite child. i was with him for thanksgiving this year and maneskin played every morning, without fail. he is pretty great, isn't he? your first solo tour? that's incredible man! i have to get my dad tickets before he asks me why i didn't tell him after we just spoke! i've been chilling for the most part... really looking forward to the trip to finland this weekend. you going to that?

“bad boy exterior” makes me sound like i showed up on a motorcycle with a leather jacket and a tragic backstory. i’m just a guy with a lot of tattoos who forgets where he put his keys half the time. second… yu-gi-oh isn’t a phase, it’s a lifestyle, zoe. you finding that out was my real downfall, clearly. i knew the moment you said “folded immediately” that i should’ve kept the card sleeves hidden. i mean, i can cook a dangerously good curry. i can build ikea furniture without crying. i can probably beat you at mario kart. does that count as magic? but if you’re hoping i pull a rabbit out of a hat, i’ll need a top hat, a wand, and at least a 10 minute warning to emotionally prepare.
