I remember my OG thoughts about them EXACTLY because I didn't care about Bridgerton until April 2024 and I have a very specific Luke-level memory about it.
I had seen both s1 and s2 but both after they'd been out quite awhile. It just wasn't on my radar really. Finally saw s1, I liked it fine, didn't change my life. (I did think Polin were cute lol). Watched s2 in a similar way. Cute, not life changing. Didn't Google any actors or go online to discuss it, or watch it 50,000 times. I remember being impressed by Johnny and Simone's emotional work, esp after her accident.
Finally, April 2024 rolls around. I am doom scrolling and the infamous IG live hit my feed. I am curious because of how they are on that couch. I vividly remember thinking I had missed something. (While I hadn't googled Bton before, I'd heard people shipping Phoebe and Rege and that he had a girlfriend etc).
I google L and N, start following the world tour as my algorithm decided I needed more, and here we are.
The crazy thing is SO many people have a similar story. There was just something about N and L together, bantering, flirting, that just captured so many of us.
They can gaslight us now, try to make us feel stupid and wrong for having those thoughts, but so many people around the world having the same experience shows we didn't make it up, we didn't collectively hallucinate, etc.
Someday, I hope they acknowledge at least that we saw what we saw...but who knows. I both celebrate and rue the day I saw that video lol 😆
