Notes for the Vigilante Sequel I’m Never Going to Write (Whoops) p1

So V.A.a.t.V.A. ends with All Might asking Izuku if he’s heard about One for All. We’d skip to Izuku reeling from the most important part- All Might asking if Izuku will inherit his Quirk.

From here, we have two options. 

Option One: Izuku rejects taking One for All, because he already has his pyro/telekinesis Quirk to master. He also may believe he’s not truly worthy, because he worked with All Might’s ultimate enemy. Here, Izuku may suggest Hitoshi for the Quirk, but Hitoshi’s fighting style isn’t quite a heavy-hitter one, and he’s gotten his ranged style down. 

Maybe it goes to Izuku’s partner? Or Mirio? But Mirio was Sir’s choice, not All Might’s, if we’re being honest.

Option Two: Izuku accepts One for All. If this happens, we can show him focusing on working with what is practically three Quirks- more, if we’re going to have One for All reach its singularity point in this story. It’s like the flip of a coin- before Izuku was Quirkless, stuck relying on shady villain deals to be able to be a hero. Now Izuku has ‘three’ Quirks, and works with the heroes to take down the villains he used to work for. (I was planning on giving Izuku One for All, by the way. Part of the reasoning was that Izuku felt that he had to take on the legacy- after all, he had aided All for One for so long, it only felt fair that he had to take on the fight to end the man.)

Along with the OfA decision, we also have to show how Izuku and Hitoshi regain the trust of their teachers- and perhaps their peers, if everything is revealed. Tenya will forgive them, if only because they mean so much to him, but he will be severely disappointed in them if he finds out. Shouto will be one of the most understanding, because he knows he would go to great lengths for his own mother. (This would also resound with Tenya, who was ready to kill for Tensei’s honor.) Tokoyami would also be understanding, knowing how fate can seem set in stone based on one’s birth and background (Quirk discrimination at its finest, folks).

-To be honest, if the class does find out, I think Izuku and Hitoshi would regain their peers’ trust by nearly dying in order to protect them.

“You’re my friends,” Izuku says, smiling despite the iron taste on his tongue. “After all I’ve done…this is the least I can do.”

The attack was likely from the L.o.V., with a ‘you die or they do’ situation. Izuku and Hitoshi took the pain without flinching.

P3 Some other things I’d like to focus on:

Izuku and Hitoshi realizing how much of a childhood they’ve truly missed. Just...them being loved by friends and family, being able to relax without constant stress.

Izuku fully tackling the ‘Hitoshi isn’t my sidekick’ discussion- which has been touched upon and pointed out during the main fic, but should be an arc of its own.

-Bonus points if Hitoshi gets more pov chapters than just one.

Just in general, showing off the new friend dynamics. 

We can finally get some love interests in here.

Options for Izuku:

-Todoroki (it’s hinted at during the main fic)

-Sero (they have that moment in the Sports Fest. where Sero feels bad for making the wrong comments, and seem to have the foundation for a good friendship set up)

-Tokoyami 

-Kirishima (he’s always been supportive, and likely always will be)

-Monoma (the one boy from 1-A he can completely like)

-Bakugou (the boy seems on the path of redemption, and if his hatred for Hitoshi isn’t just out of feelings of being replaced, he may be jealous that Izuku isn’t his now.)

-Iida (Long-term friendship, and first name basis)

Options for Hitoshi:

-Tokoyami (they seem to have a few moments where they interact as friends)

-Hatsume (energetic inventor and insomniac inventor)

During the Overhaul Raid:

Izuku goes on the raid, Hitoshi does not.

This is, again, to give Hitoshi his own story. While Izuku is off with Eraserhead and co. saving Eri, Hitoshi is off with Hizashi, learning to be more outspoken and confident. 

Aizawa, Yamada, and Shinsou know about One for All.

“I refuse to hide anything more from them,” Izuku states confidently. “I’m sorry, All Might, but I- I can’t keep more secrets from them. I’ve broken their trust enough.”

But surprisingly, All Might doesn’t seem upset. Instead he smiles, pats him on the head and says, “I’m perfectly alright with that, young Midoriya. I understand completely.”

Aizawa is just like: why. He already has to learn how to use 2 Quirks.

And All Might is like: it is the perfect cover! He’s already manifested his own so suddenly, no one will bat an eye at the strength aspect! Your son is very strong as it is, it will not be out of place.”

Sero, seeing that Izuku got a Quirk: Fuck, god decided to un-nerf him. R.I.P. the entire villain population.  Ok that was it. That was all I had....except for one thing. The Title: Analyst and Ventriloquist, and All that Comes After  (yes the goal was to be Like That)

B- KamiDeku! I had never even considered the idea, but I saw a really cute fic once when I first got into the fandom, and wow did that hit! K: Assuming that this is about an actual person from a fandom...there’s this really great writer, Cat, who’s in a couple of servers that I’m in! She’s really great, I think she’s got a tumblr and everything!

N: Hmmm...for bnha, I guess I’d always be a sucker for

1. More butterfly effect stories that focus on how the change affects more than just the central protagonist

2. Actor Izuku Midoriya (I just realized that I dominate the ao3 tag for that, and I now have the urge for more.)

3. Izuku just...accidentally gaining parents/accidentally becoming a cryptid (basically Izuku accidentally doing something cool and not knowing it)

Z: I see now why you asked for this....okay let’s go ahead and come up with something off of the top of my head.

AU where Izuku keeps getting noticed by random heroes, and each of them, independently, assume that he’s homeless/needs a family for some reason, and so he has like...20+ heroes just trying to adopt him. But he has no idea, because he’s just a funky little hero fan, so he just races off whenever he sees a fight is done because what if there’s another fight?! So the heroes never get a chance to talk to him. And they’ve tried hunting him down/following him when he goes, but he has a bad habit of blending in with crowds, so he just disappears on them just when they’re about to reach him.  It all comes to a head at Yuuei, when Izuku, the proud holder of One for All, walks into 1-A...and half of his teachers are heroes who have been trying to adopt him. Bonus food for thought: The teachers see Yagi’s obvious favoritism for Izuku, and can’t figure out if Yagi is also trying to adopt Izuku, or if he already got to adopt Izuku. Yagi, for his part, is completely unaware of the adoption shenanigans that have occurred.

The Elemental Hero: Avatar- An Izuku AU

Surprise, surprise! I still exist!

And with that said….let’s hop into what I have to say!

The Basics:

1. Izuku has a Quirk. He was given it by the Hero Commission via experimental tests. The Quirk is called Elemental, and it allows him to control the basic four elements (water, earth, fire, and air). For a basic understanding, think of the avatar series. (This Quirk is relevant later on, I’ll explain I swear.)

2. Izuku does not go to Yuuei. While it’s always fun to send a commission-raised Izuku to Yuuei (i.e. Skvader), in this universe, the H.C. plans to raise him just like they raised Keigo. They’re focused on churning out top heroes, and believe sending him to a class would simply distract him with unnecessary things.

3. While Izuku is not being sent to a school, the H.C. does send him to train with other element-based heroes. And with this, we see…..

TodoIzu Friendship!

So! Endeavor is one of the Element-Based heroes that the Commission convinced to train Izuku in return for extra compensation. He mainly agreed to this because he wants Shouto to have a sparring partner/thinks that he can use Izuku to bend Shouto’s will more to his liking.

(And maybe part of Enji agreed for another reason, but shhh….That’ll be revealed in a few moments.)

Well, Shouto and Izuku see each other and how they’re being raised and are like ‘oh...same hat’.

And they bond! Our boys are two peas in an abused, beaten, wilting but green pod! But yeah...our boys have friends. :)

And what do friends do??? That’s right, they encourage each other!!! So guess who is sitting in the stands for the Sports Festival? You guessed it, so now we have-

The First Flag:

The Sports Festival itself isn’t too important, admittedly. Shouto already knows the whole ‘it’s your power’ thing because, again, these sweethearts have been training for literal years together. So Shouto just...sweeps the competition.

(A single “fuck yeah, Shouto!” can be heard from the stands.)

But that’s irrelevant! Jump to right after the awards ceremony, and, oh! It seems that a certain green-haired boy has snuck into the 1-A waiting room to congratulate his best friend!

And the first weird thing for 1-A?

Shouto Todoroki, their resident ice prince, is smiling. Smiling!! And everyone just wants to know who on Earth this guy is, managing to get a smile out of him.

And then there’s Katsuki Bakugou.

Who could swear that the boy is oddly familiar.

But then

But Then

Todoroki calls Midoriya by his first name as they exit the room, and Bakugou is just like ‘wait, What.’

So now we have Katsuki realizing that ‘Deku’ and his odd disappearing act may be more than the simple ‘The Midoriya’s moved’ explanation that he was given.

Oh well, moving on!

Hosu:

Not much to say here! Just thought it’d be nice to note that Izuku was training with Manual when Iida came for his work study. As such, the Hosu arc ends without unwanted casualties! 

(Note: Now may be, in fact, a good time to mention that Izuku has not been at a lot of events that we see in canon. I wonder how that’s been going… ;) )

Summer Camp:

Once again, we get lucky with perfect timing! This time, Izuku is training with Pixie-Bob (and he’s visiting Kouta, who likes to hear stories about his parents, but the official reason is training). 

Now Aizawa gets to see the happy, smiling Shouto Todoroki that his students whispered about post-Sports Festival. 

Because Todoroki walks out of the forest, shoulders slumped, expression blank as usual.

And then he catches sight of the green-haired boy who has been training with Pixie-Bob, creating impressive structures that require a fine level of precision that some pros don’t even have.

And Todoroki lights up, eyes glinting, smile growing, the works.

“Izuku?” 

“Shouto?!”

Aizawa can’t help but feel lost, because he’s never seen Todoroki so much as pat someone on the shoulder, but the boy just straight up tackle hugged this ‘Izuku’ kid.

It’s pretty much like-

Aizawa: Who is this kid?

Pixie-Bob: Oh, that’s Midoriya! He’s training to be a hero!

Aizawa, who just saw this kid dismantle an entire mountain and then reshape it exactly as it had been: ...why isn’t he at Yuuei??? Why did he never apply?

Pixie-Bob: Commission

So now Aizawa is also ConcernedTM.

And so is Katsuki, because he was listening in. 

But oh boy, we have a bit more to talk about...because the summer camp attack still occurs.

And Dabi still shows up.

And as it turns out, Keigo isn’t the only one who Izuku remembers training with. Keigo is just the only one that stayed- that remained. 

(That didn’t fail, and suffer the consequences of such a fatal mistake.)

Now, I’m not saying that Endeavor sent his first son to the Hero Commission at their insistence in this AU, and that the child’s death/disappearance is a subconscious reason that Endeavor agreed to train Izuku.

(And I’m definitely not saying that Endeavor may be subconsciously replacing Touya with Izuku, that Endeavor doesn’t see Izuku as yet another successor of his own, as another perfect child that could have and should have been…)

But Dabi recognizes Izuku immediately.

And the recognition is returned.

And that’s everything I have for the timeline! So let’s get onto the random tidbits that remain!

When Izuku was five years old, a nice man in a suit looked at him and asked, “Do you want to be a hero?”

“Yes,” he said, of course.

“But you do not have a Quirk,” the man pointed out.

Izuku didn’t know how the man knew this, but the man was right. “I don’t,” he agreed, wilting every so slightly.

But then the man said something amazing.

“I can give you a Quirk, if only you come with me.”

Izuku didn’t hesitate to accept…

For the next ten years, he’d find himself training with a boy with beautiful wings, both taught to be better, to make their Quirks perfect. Izuku and his elemental Quirk, Keigo and his wings.

Or: 85% of the Quirkless population doesn’t commit suicide, as many believe.

No, the Hero Commission just knows that they are the only subjects that can be given Quirks without being broken.

(All for One isn’t the only one who made Noumus...he’s just the one who did it on purpose.)
