In New York, you have to be registered as a Democrat BY OCTOBER 9TH, 2015. Otherwise, you CANNOT vote in the NY primary on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, as New York has closed primaries.

ILLINOIS: Illinois has semi-closed primaries. You are able to change party at election ballots. The primary is on Tuesday, March 15, 2016. Application must be postmarked no later than Tuesday, February 16.
INDIANA: Indiana has open primaries. You can vote for Bernie Sanders regardless of registered party. The primary is on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. Application must be postmarked no later than Monday, April 4.
