#ThinBlueLine = 'the barrier between law and order and social and civil anarchy.' 🤔 I thought about it for a moment and then followed the former mayor's gaze to where the beloved 🤡#MummersParade was strutting #Philly 2019 #TheNewNext (at Frank L. #TheNewNext 🐠 I always believe in looking up because you never know what surprises await when you keep your head to the sky (S/O: @earthwindandfire)☁️The beauty of sticker art is the ephemeral nature of the work's existence. The here-today-gone-tomorrow nature of it all is the reason why I take time to document street art. If the work is not scrubbed, it often continues to evolve, as is the case of this flying fish 🏙️#MyPrettyCity #SouthStreetSpecial #UrbanUniverse (at South Street West) https://www.instagram.com/p/Br6h5ouDPqy/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=17hn5p3alp1sg
#Kwanzaa is a non-religious, cultural African American and Pan-African holiday, celebrated worldwide by people of African descent. The holiday focuses on the cultural, ethical, and spiritual visions and values of African culture. For the second year, from December 26th until January 1st, Boathouse Row will be lit red, green and black in honor of the Kwanzaa holiday. The design of the lights will turn the houses into a kinara, the seven candles used in celebrating the festival of Kwanzaa. For the first day of Kwanzaa, one house in the middle of the row will be illuminated in yellow lights only on the roof, representing the middle black candle and its flame, while the rest of the houses will be dark. Each successive evening one more house on Boathouse Row (representing that night’s candle) will be lit beginning with red on the left and ending with green on the right. By the seventh and final day of Kwanzaa, all seven buildings representing the kinara will be lit to reflect the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa. Each day celebrants greet with "Habari gani?" and the answer is each of the principles for each of the days of Kwanzaa, i.e., "Umoja", on the first day, "Kujichagulia", on the second day and so on. Douglas’s Olympic achievement — winning gold in both individual and group gymnastics competitions, and being the first African-American to do so — has made her something of an instant American icon. She’s currently on a national tour, and her autobiography comes out this month from HarperCollins.
