BACK IN BLACK!!

Kickin' around the old pad after getting back from @bobbylovesalex 'gettaway from the bullshit' retreat.

It was great to see the guys all together again... coherently for the most part. I made them all promise we'd do it again soon...it was pretty much what the doctor ordered.

I thought @robby-l-keene was having a great time, reconnecting with Bobby's brood but since we've been back...he's up and disappeared on me... haven't seen him in about a week...he's probably still steamed about our visit with @iamtheladyshannon ...I tried to get him to open up on the ride home...and even though he said he was cool...I'm gettin' better at reading him...I think more drama is on the horizon.

I'm not sure about this plan that @bobbylovesalex and the rest of the guys were hatching out for me...this blind date waste of time...I told them they were barking up the wrong tree...I agreed to this road trip in the first place to get @mamabearlarusso outta my head...but I dunno...I don't think replacing her with another chick is gonna solve my problems... even if it did make my dick twitch just to rub it in hers and the Jolly Green Giants face...I told them I'd sleep on it...but I'm probably gonna swear off the babes and the dudes for a while.

I gotta start making plans to get back to the bar and back to work... just tying up a few loose ends here before I jet outta this place and leave it in my rearview mirror again.

I wanna make sure everything is straight between me and @dr-ali-mills ...we didn't leave on a high note...and even though I got that card from Hawaii from her and Pobrecito...I can read her like a book... she's gonna hand my ass to me and I deserve it...

I can't leave until we get this mess sorted with Shannon...I need @dr-ali-mills help...but I'm also going to need @mamabearlarusso who has a real hand in the works... that's gonna be awkward...I haven't said two words to her in a very long time...I dunno if I'll lose it and pussy out or just not participate at all...I'm screwed. I'm gonna need @robby-l-keene to show up and man up and help get his mom back home and stable...she needs to have a game plan.

Here in Crescent City! (P)

It’s late in the afternoon when I finally start seeing some familiar territory. The Redwoods are awesome out here and I can smell the ocean in the air. @robby-l-keene seemed awfully preoccupied with something this trip…he still hasn’t said much to me…even though I tried to kid and joke around with him. I guess he’ll open up in his own time. I know ole Lincoln Hawk was in the same boat with his kid during the movie and he stuck with it and so can I. I tried a few more goofs with Robby but it just seemed to bounce off of him. We were quiet pretty much the rest of the ride there.

I had a lot of stuff rolling around in my head and the drive was helping me work through some of the shit I had gotten myself into…but I still didn’t have the answers I wanted. I let Robby drive the rest of the way in…since he had been here last and I have some fuzzy memories on the particulars and still don’t care for that GPS…whatever crap…and since no one’s seen an Atlas in the past 10 years I let him handle it. I dozed off in the front seat…the sun coming in through the windshield warming my skin. He turned on some tunes and started humming along.

When I opened my eyes, I saw the tourist center and Robby had a wistful smile on his face…I guess he had some good memories from the last time he was here. I stretched in the seat and asked him how much farther it was.

We pulled into a coastal beach front property overlooking a huge forest. I don’t remember a lot of this…it had been a few years…and it looks like a lot of additions and changes have been made. I see a plane docked at the pier and I know @thequietboynextdoor is around

and I also see an old Dodge motor home parked under some trees already looking like @takearightcheckitout is setting up shop.

I didn’t realize how much I missed my bros until Robby pulled to a stop. I’m grinning ear to ear and the past few weeks are shucking off behind me like old skin. I’m here! I’m looking around for someone to come out as I get out of the car and stretch my legs. The air is crisp and clean and I inhale deeply. None of that LA smog and grime coating my lungs…just good ole fresh, clean air!!

I go around the car as Robby is getting out and clap him on the back. “Thanks, Son!” I feel like a teenager again…like this place has some sort of magic powers almost feeling up to my old Ace Degenerate ways…and I turn around and come face to face with @bobbylovesalex. I hadn’t seen him since he rescued me from the bar and sorted me out with Robby. We really hadn’t talked that much since he left me at @dr-ali-mills and went home. He looked at me warily…his eyes questioning what I would do or who would make a move first.

“Well I didn’t come all the way out here to kick your ass…if that’s what you’re thinking!” I say and grab him in a huge bear hug. “Get over here!”

Out of the house followed Jimmy and Tommy both looking the same as the last time I hazily saw them at the bar where @mamabearlarusso found me again and forgave me…again….

“Looks like all the Stooges are here…!” I say giving each of them a hug and trying to put Jimmy in a headlock to scruff his head.

“C’mon Johnny!”

“Johnny.” Tommy said looking at me with care in his eyes. He’s looking weaker than I left him and that is concerning me. I go to give him a hug and he feels lighter. Like he’s barely there.

“You ok, Bro?”

“Yeah…Johnny…I’m fine.” he said as his eyes watered up.

I let it go for now…he was giving me a look like he didn’t want to talk about it. It was just good to see everyone again under better circumstances. Robby had gotten the bags and had made his way into the house. I was just standing there looking at all of them.

“So…what’s been going on with you knuckleheads? How’s tricks?”

*I see Johnny look at Tommy with concern and I wonder how much he knows. He hasn’t been in contact with all of us lately and the last round of chemo really took a toll on Tommy @takearight. Even I have to wonder if something else is going on, seeing how tightly Susan is holding on to him now. She’s never come up for a guys’ weekend before. Robby went straight into the house, but I’m not worried about that. Alex will take care of him. It’s time to quit trying to solve the problems of the world and just enjoy time with my friends.*

I nod at Susan while she takes hold of Tommy’s hand and gives it a squeeze and goes back to mobile home. Something’s going on here…what am I not getting?? I shake my head and look at Bobby..he’s saying something to me.

“Same ole Same ole…huh? Looks like you’ve been doing pretty well for yourself up here in Big Red country…Look at this place!! And look at YOU, Jimbo!! Looks like the Missus is feeding you pretty steady…(I fake jab him in the gut and he flinches away) I look at Tommy…”You been all over the place lately, Tommy boy? I’m glad Brown here got a hold of ya when he did…I know I saw you a few weeks ago…but I figure you’d be long gone by now!”

I walk around hands in my pockets…looking everything over and just taking in the view. It’s a far cry from the city and I’m suddenly missing my bar a lot…I know ole Pete and crew probably have written me off…but as long as I’m paying the bills…I guess I can be AWOL a little while longer. I admire what Bobby’s got going on here.

“How’s business been? What’s the rubes like? Don’t just stand there with your trap hanging open!! I’m starting to see the flies buzzing!!”

Soon the rest of the people that had been in the house come piling out. I lost count after a few and then I see a couple of dogs and I see my pooch!! I had almost forgot about ole Daisy and Axel….they had both gotten SO BIG!! Robby was following behind the rest of the bunch talking to a chick around his age…and I glance a Bobby…he’s got a lot of ‘splainin’ to do!!

*Hugs Johnny and smiles* “Come meet everyone.” *Leads him to the house* “Alex, this is Johnny. Johnny, this is my husband, Alex.” *Alex smiles widely and holds out his hand, shaking Johnny’s. Bobby points to the girl talking Robby.* “Our daughter, Jessie.” *Points at the little girl now hiding behind Robby’s legs.* “And our granddaughter, Lexie.”

*Lexie gives Johnny a once over before deciding he was alright. Lets go of Robby’s leg and comes over, holding her arms up to Johnny.*

“Up.” Lexie demands.

“Watch it, Johnny. She’s just trying to soften you up to ask for your dog.”

Kids….I always had a problem with kids….the snotty nosier the worst. I quickly darted my eyes at @robby-l-keene hoping he knew enough about his old dad to get my drift. He was looking back at me expectantly…encouragingly. I hope my face didn’t display my discomfort as much as I felt it did. I didn’t know there were going to be any rugrats running around here. I thought it was gonna be me and the boys kicking back and getting drunk off our ass. Now I gotta be on my best….

We have 2 newlywed couples and an anniversary couple staying at the house this weekend, so I thought we could all cam out in the lighthouse and let Alex handle all the work here at the house. What do you say @everyonesfavoritegoldenboy

Out of the house followed Jimmy and Tommy both looking the same as the last time I hazily saw them at the bar where @mamabearlarusso found me again and forgave me…again….

“Looks like all the Stooges are here…!” I say giving each of them a hug and trying to put Jimmy in a headlock to scruff his head.

“C’mon Johnny!”

“Johnny.” Tommy said looking at me with care in his eyes. He’s looking weaker than I left him and that is concerning me. I go to give him a hug and he feels lighter. Like he’s barely there.

“You ok, Bro?”

“Yeah…Johnny…I’m fine.” he said as his eyes watered up.

A Nice Fall Day...(F)

Grabbed up all of my gear and took off...lots of great things to see in my neighborhood alone.

This is the view from the front of my house...I laugh at an eager Jenn who's extremely excited to get her "Fall On". That means pumpkins... everywhere!

I start thinking about my buddies on the walk...it's been a long time since I checked in with Bobby and Tommy and for that matter, Johnny...I decide to check in on @bobbylovesalex and see what his plans were for the fall... maybe we can haul everyone up there to his place...since our last get together was with Tommy for Fourth of July...I hope things have smoothed over with him and Susan since then...I haven't talked to any of them since...except when Mills went to the cabin...I'm looking forward to seeing Pablo again too... he's great for her!

I had a massive collection under my bed until my mom did a prison style bed check, nearly fainted and forced me to burn them all in the rubbish barrel out back. Hateful old cow. Where as I? OH yeah...I kept this babe tucked nicely under my pillow.

Embarrassingly, my old man used to buy them for me. He’d always try to leave them in my room inconspicuously. I think he thought that would ‘cure’ me. I’m glad someone enjoyed his embarrassment of having to go purchase those. Funny how Johnny always seemed to find them wherever my Dad hid them in my room.

AWWW Babes!! I had NO idea...what a thick-headed boyfriend I was...and TRUST me...I had you in my arms and she was on the pages of a magazine. And everyone was jealous of ME because I had the prettiest girl in the whole school by my side...if only for a little while.

I think Ms. Sybil wound up in the trash actually...especially I think after the time I tried to prove myself worthy of your love again...but by that point...I’m not sure you believed my bullshit anymore. I’m glad that woman can’t come between us anymore and that we are both a little older and wiser...she’s just probably older and uglier...
