How to Answer the Question, “Tell Me About Yourself”
“Why do some British people not like Donald Trump?” Nate White, an articulate and witty writer from England wrote the following response: A few things spring to mind. Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem. For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no…
Moving Forward
One of the measures of success in the pre-COVID era was scale and domination. Bigger was better at any cost, even to values and principles. The coworking landscape was blanketed by monolithic players with hundreds of look-alike locations. Smaller and independently owned coworking spaces can compete. The strategy is a lot simpler than you might think. At Work Nicer, culture, community, flexibility, and member satisfaction are our competitive advantage. Since 2016, Work Nicer has been providing local businesses an opportunity to connect with world-wide players around similar values. Of course, we provide all the practical requirements for success like wifi, printing, coffee, and beer. And, the Work Nicer design team has created cool, functional layouts at each outpost. Our business model has focused on going to the next level and fulfilling the implied and tacit desires that we hear from members. Form and function foster collisions, and programs and events encourage connection. Coworking is about cohumaning. We strive to connect, share, and assist each other and provide opportunities for member businesses and partners to expand their reach. During the shared experience of the pandemic, our principles and practices have gone virtual but remained the same. As we plan for the springboard out of this normal into some uncertain times, Work Nicer is doubling down on relationships, authenticity, and catalyzing connections. Today, we are operating in circumstances that none of us recognize but we are defining what tomorrow will look and feel like. We are planning relaunch events, redesigning gathering spaces, and preparing programming to inspire our members and our neighbors to be more collaborative, more caring, and ultimately be more successful. A great lesson that we have learned from COVID-19 is that our strengths are in the local community where we live, spend money, and make a life. Big box stores might be okay for survival purchases but local independent operations ensure the thrival of participants and our neighborhoods. We are all in this together. No one succeeds alone. Work Nicer is an Alberta based collaborative work environment with outposts in Edmonton and Calgary. For more information, please visit www.worknicer.com
