Getting herself into something that was a bit more comfortable, yet till presentable, Ginny wasted no time in making her way over to Hermione's home. It felt as though it had been forever since she had last seen her dear friend, and now sister, when truly it had probably only been a few days. Either way Ginny was craving some best friend time. Walking into the others home Ginny let out a sigh of contentment and kicked off her shoes. "Now tell me all about the life of Miss Hermione I'm starting to feel out of the loop," she called into the open space as she settled herself onto the couch in the family room making herself comfortable. @boggart
there was a time long ago, back when she was merely a callow adolescent, that hermione had truly believed the answer to every problem in the world could be found in BOOKS. her mind still held memories of her eleven-year-old self, buck-toothed and daisy fresh, so young, so unencumbered — she would roam the endless rows of hogwarts' library with an insatiable hunger and a steely determination burning in her amber eyes. now, things had changed ... she had changed ... and she knew all too well that some problems simply couldn't be solved, not even with all the knowledge in the world. but still, hermione had to try. another sleepless, unproductive night had passed as she pored over ancient tomes on horcruxes, desperately seeking answers, only to arrive at yet another dead end. stinging tears began to well up in her reddened eyes, and she blinked rapidly to keep them from falling. this was no time for a breakdown, she reminded herself. but what good was a brilliant mind if it couldn't even save her best friend? with a force she would never have used in her normal state of mind, hermione slammed the book shut, burying her face in her hands and willing herself not to CRUMBLE.
at the sound of the door opening, she'd initially assumed it was rose or hugo. looking up from her dark hands, hermione tried to compose herself for her children, not wanting them to see her like this, as anything less than the pillar of strength they'd come to know their mother as. but when she realized it was ginny, she breathed a sigh of relief. "gin," she started, "there's something i need to tell you. it's about harry. but you have to promise to keep it a secret." it was time for the truth to come out, and she trusted ginny more than she trusted her own mind. "can you do that for me?"
Rahim had thought about doing this before, sneaking down to the cells where the prisoners were kept, but had never dared to risk until now, overhearing that one of his comrades had gotten a little too enthusiastic during an interrogation. It had pierced him cold. She couldn't be dead - the Dark Lord would certainly have a grander death planned for Lily Potter, a more visible death, a weapon against her father that wouldn't be wasted in a cell deep in Malfoy Manor. And more than that - she just couldn't. Not her, not Lily, who was more alive than anyone else he'd ever met. His hands shook as he approached the cell. Unusual that - it wasn't as if he ever enjoyed the sight of someone in pain - the opposite - but he'd always kept his hands steady, his mind clear, before. Healing was what he was born for, what he breathed for, the one thing that had kept him going since joining the Death Eaters - that sometimes, he saved a life, instead of ended one. But with her it was different, it had always been different. "Hey, Potter, it's me," he called out, voice low but not wanting her to think it was someone else, coming back for more. Although he was assuming he'd be a comfort to her - maybe that was Rahim's delusion. He came to the door to her cell, faced her, and then stopped. He'd seen his cousin's handiwork before, but this was something else. Rahim stopped breathing, stopped thinking, stopped anything, all was lost, anything that wasn't Lily. Maybe he knew too, that for a while now, it hadn't been healing that he breathed for, but her. He dropped to his knees, hands reaching through the bars to carress her face - his first mistake. That wasn't healing, that wasn't the usual calm control he forced himself to exert over every situation, every impulse, every feeling. That was love. "Lily." He'd never said her name before, always called her Potter to her face.. "Fuck. I'm going to heal you, I'm going to stop the pain, okay? You're alright now, I promise. All you have to do is hold on. I'm here." @boggart
There was something unbearably lonely about waiting to die.
It wasn't meant to happen like this. Someone who burnt like wildfire wasn't meant to flicker out so quietly, like a candle snuffed out in the gusty wind. But here, now Lily Potter was fading away in the catacombs of Malfoy Manor, and there wasn't a thing she could do to stop it. Her entire body ached like a blistering fever, barely able to move. Through sheer willpower alone, Lily had managed to fashion a compress to stop the bleeding for now, but she knew that if she didn't receive medical attention soon — no. She wouldn't entertain the thought. If she was going to perish, it would be surrounded by her friends and family — with her loved ones — like it was always meant to be. She would not die like this. She refused.
And then, as if he had heard her somehow, in walked her savior — almost looking like an angel of darkness, cloaked in the very same black robes of the Death Eaters who had spent weeks tormenting her. She'd almost mistaken him for his cousin, assuming she had finally come to finish her off. Face abashed, Lily dropped the sharp rock she'd been clutching tightly in anticipation of that moment. ( So tightly, that there was blood that hadn't been there before — another shining mark of her foolishness. Would she ever learn? )
"Rahim..." His name spilt from her lips in spite of herself, her heart bounding in her chest. A feeling took root deep within her, one that she couldn't quite bring herself to name — a secret that would continue to burn bright and silently in her chest. A quiet fire. It was easier when she was merely his enemy, seething with blind hatred against him — against his family. There was a strange, purifying clarity that came with loathing, the way it reduced everything to stark black and white. She needed that simplicity — had come to rely on it, even — but now the lines had been blurred. Her world had been rebirthed in vivid color, and she was shining red, burning up and bleeding out — for him, for this. "You came." she breathed. "I — I didn't know if you would — won't this blow your cover?" If he died because of her, another life lost because of her, more blood on her hands — she'd never forgive herself.
The gentleness of his touch was almost too much to bear. What did you do with tenderness, when all that you had known for weeks was unrelenting cruelty? When the hands that were born to harm you, only wanted to heal you instead? Desperate for even a sliver of warmth in this cold, cold dungeon cell, she leaned into his touch for just a moment, burying her cheek in the palm of his hand. Then, catching herself, she shrank away from it, stepping backwards ever-so-slightly, her hazel eyes beseeching with contrite, a wordless apology. ( Would she be forgiven for this small moment of weakness? Would he still look at her the same after all this, the same reverence in his molten brown eyes? A holiness she'd never been worthy of in the first place. ) "Rahim, wait ... my family ... you have to help my family first. Please." Begging was not something Lily Potter would ever deign herself to do in most circumstances, but here she was, begging for mercy from someone who most likely couldn't grant it — a desperate plea. "Don't worry about me. I'll be fine. I'm not important. I'm not."

her shoulders rise, voice carrying in a sort of tantrum. “ i still don't understand why we can't go with you, ” her voice is fervent, feet pacing back and forth across the shared room. the logical part of her brain knew this was routine, that sometimes they would be apart from one another, but it didn't make her feel any better about it. eyes flash to both lucy and wynifred, her body finally stilling. “ lucy, we're going right? we'll just tell them we're going. ” / ( @mvgcs )
lucy has been silent for a while ; watching ana pace back and forth - - if she wasn't so mad, it would have made her laugh. instead a sigh escapes her glossed lips. " i just don't get it, we're always better together. surely they know that , right ? " her gaze falls on lily ; almost hopefully, as if lily might have the answer, though knowing she won't. classified. her entire life seemed to be made up of a series of classified moments. " we have to go. right ? or at least, we could be nearby - in case you all need back up - bet they didn't think of that. " / ( @boggart )
lily's cherry-coated lips pursed into a thin line as she chewed over her best friends' words, finding herself trapped in a neverending battle of mulish head versus bleeding heart. her best friends would always be her beating heart, and she loathed the very thought of being apart from them for even a moment. ("never saw one without the other, did you?" these words once spoken about her grandfather and his merry band of marauders only ringed more true for this generation of potters. history seemed to always repeat itself, endlessly and unforgivingly.) but still, there was a thought that pressed in her mind: what if they came along and something happened to them? it'd be her fault for encouraging it, no matter how foolishly noble they'd tell her she was being if she voiced her fears. “no, there's no need for you to come along too.” she said finally, her voice adamant. “come on, you know you don't have to worry about me. i'll be fine. you heard what they said. it'll be quick and easy, in and out.” she tried an encouraging smile. “i'll be back before you know it, just in time for our weekly movie sesh.” her gaze fell onto wynnifred, whose turn it was to pick the movie. “right, wynne?” ( @magicored )
if there was one thing lily potter was, it was a fighter — until the very end. her relatives had told her before, shaking their heads with fond exasperation, you never know when to give in, and it was true. she'd been born a slight little thing, so small that her parents had held their breaths, fearful whether or not she would make it. she'd be fighting since the day she was born, and she wasn't about to stop now. lily refused to go quietly, and even in a situation as dire as this, she'd resolved to never give in. she would find a way out of this — even if she had to kill their captors with her bare hands. lily's freckled skin was littered with fresh, new wounds that were as red as her hair, some self-inflicted from her magic lashing out in a blaze of fury — failed escape attempts, each more desperate than the last. the ivory dress around her petite frame was stained with carmine-colored blood, visible even in the dim light of the dungeons. she'd torn it slightly in her last attempt when she tried to tackle a guard twice her size who'd easily pushed her off as though she was nothing — oh, if only she'd had her wand. she would've given him a reckoning.
inching towards her cousin louis, she grabbed his pale hand and squeezed it in a tight, vice-like grip. her best attempt at a comforting gesture, with what little comfort she could offer him in the cold, despairing fog. dementors lurked just outside the bolted door. "there has to be a way out of this," she whispered, trying to keep her voice steady, not letting her desperation show. there was nothing lily hated more than this powerlessness. "the next guards who come to interrogate us — we'll overpower them together." yes, louis with his sharp claws and teeth and lily with her raw ferocity and nimbleness. they could accomplish it, if they worked together. "we'll steal their wands, and then we'll fight our way out." if she said it vehemently enough, could she somehow will it into working? "listen to me. we can do this." ( @wolfsbanepotion )
[ she/they, queer ] greetings to all of our listeners! we start today’s potterwatch with a long-awaited update on lydia mai longbottom who was finally spotted alive just last night, wandering the streets of london. for those of you who haven’t tuned in before, they are a 22 year old pureblood wix who is oddly reminiscent of primrose everdeen, beth march, and lucy pevensie, which makes sense considering their idealistic, compassionate, conscientious, over-compensating, naive, and self-conscious nature. you might know of them as the adopted child of neville longbottom and hannah abbott, and we’re sure that their family will be relieved to hear they’re safe and sound — or at least as much as you can be, in times like this. to all our listeners, if you catch a glimpse of someone who looks a bit like that muggle kaylee kaneshiro, that’s them. before approaching, please be aware that they’re rumored to be affiliated with the order of the phoenix, so best proceed with caution. these are dangerous times we’re living in. well, thanks for tuning in, folks. we’ll play ourselves out with smother by daughter.
