Academic Stress
Academic Stress is a common experience of students. It involves mental distress regarding anticipated academic challenges or failure. It is commonly defined as the effect of giving overload of works to students in which they can’t handle easily. This can be seen in school, at home, and in the neighborhood.
Stress has become part of students’ academic life due to the various internal and external expectations placed upon their shoulders. Students are particularly vulnerable to stress because of too many tasks to do and the pressure that has been given to them. They could either be pressured by the expectations of other people and the time allotted to them to perform a certain activity. Although it may seem that studying isn’t stressful, however, because of the other factors that are present in the school’s atmosphere, students begin to have it. It could also result to multiple effects such as students becoming depressed and students dropping out of school.
Therefore, stress is a social issue commonly experienced by students. It affects every aspect of a student’s life. It must be given relevance as it does not only affect the students but also affects the teachers, school, and in general, education itself. Education is one of the important things that a person could attain. Moreover, students, as part of education must prevent having to experience stress by applying proper time management and taking a rest once in a while.
