THE HISTORY OF NEW MEDIA
New media are forms of media that are native to computers, computational and rely on computers for redistribution. Some examples of new media are telephones, computers, virtual worlds, single media, website games, human-computer interface, computer animation and interactive computer installations.
New media are often contrasted to “old media”, such as television, radio, and print media, although scholars in communication and media studies have criticized rigid distinctions based on oldness and novelty. New media does not include television programs (only analog broadcast), feature films, magazines, books, – unless they contain technologies that enable digital generative or interactive processes
Movies such as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) and Easy Rider (1969), reflected the youth driven culture, such as fashion, music and social values of the decade. Commercial radio during the 1960’s tailored to the youth, providing music that was upbeat, and popular in the charts.
In the 1970s, reporters took stronger roles in uncovering news. They revealed corruption in the government that lead all the way to the president. In another case, the Pentagon Papers started a legal battle between the powers of the government to protect its secrets and the press’ freedom to publish information for the public good.

The ’90s was a decade of enormous disruption, the axis on which the old world ended and a new one began. Often a vehicle for affectionate nostalgia, not just a decade that gave us Kurt Cobain and “The Simpsons:” Its political events were deeply transformative, and the thread that ran through them all was technology.
YouTube came out in 2005, creating an entirely new way for people to communicate and share with each other across great distances. By 2006, Facebook and Twitter both became available to users throughout the world. These sites remain some of the most popular social networks on the Internet
As of August 2009, Facebook was the most popular online social network for American adults 18 and older.

EVOLUTION OF MEDIA
Nowadays, our day wouldn’t be complete without using media, we use it 24/7. Everytime we drive in the city we can see billboards promoting latest product. We became so attached to it that we use it in our daily living(social media). For example, if you’re living in a city it’s a hard to find a taxi, it’s hassle especially when you need to be on time to work or events. So for safety and more convenient you’ll just install an application such as Grab, Micab etc. And if you want to order some food and deliver it at home it’s just one tap away!.
But when did all this stuff started? (Photo above)
What is Media?
Media refers to the tools of mass communication. Media today consists of television, Internet, cinema, newspapers, radio, magazines, direct mail, fax, and the telephone. Viewers can see some form of pictorial representation of messages through certain types of broadcasting and advertising. Images are visual representations, pictures, graphics, and include video, movies. Images are very useful in media to help get across messages effectively.
Media images are omnipresent in modern society. Because when we go almost anywhere example when we drive we can see billboards promoting latest product. When we are attracted to advertisements, we may begin to imagine or visualize using it. The media can give us information to tell us what a product, service or message is.
Throughout the years our media improved in so many ways.New media has transformed the way we receive and produce content. In the past, old style media was the only form of media used to share content and communicate unlike nowadays which is a lot more easier and faster. Our media is still improving and currently in a rapid development that we look forward to use for a better world.
The Evolution of Traditional to New Media
Pre-Industrial Age (Before 1700s)
People discovered fire, developed paper from plants, and forged weapons and tools with stone, bronze, copper and iron. Examples:Papyrus in Egypt (2500 BC)
Industrial Age (1700s-1930s)
People used the power of steam, developed machine tools, established iron production, and the manufacturing of various products (including books through the printing press) Examples: Newspaper- The London Gazette (1640)
Electronic Age (1930s-1980s)
The invention of the transistor ushered in the electronic age. People harnessed the power of transistors that led to the transistor radio, electronic circuits, and the early computers. In this age, long distance communication became more efficient. Examples: Transistor Radio
Information Age (1900s-2000s)
The Internet paved the way for faster communication and the creation of the social network. People advanced the use of microelectronics with the invention of personal computers, mobile devices, and wearable technology. Moreover, voice, image, sound and data are digitalized. We are now living in the information age. Examples: Video: YouTube (2005)
Media is an important part of our life now, it is playing a very important role in every way of life. It connects us with the scenarios in the world and informs us many things like news, history, entertainment etc. Which helps us lot in being an upgraded personality.
There was a time when man used to know nothing about the happenings in this world, his outer knowledge was just up to his backyard or village. But as time passes, things discovered and new ideas and thoughts invented things like camera, satellite, microphone, etc. These things made life easy for every single individual living in this world. Man was being updated day by day and minute by minute from each and every news.
Now in this time, media is so vast that we just need to turn on our televisions by pressing a button and we get all the knowledge that we want or even just by searching on search engines on the internet we get each and every information regarding, news, history, geography, music and entertainment and many more and for this the good and common example we have is Google. We can find each and everything or any kind of news and updates by just writing the name on this search engine and on the next second we can see the news and information about that particular subject.
Media helps in bringing the true facts and information of the world in front of our eyes. If there was no media, then there was life but without any information and knowledge.
Timeline of Media would help us know the history of technology, of how people before deliver their message to the people they missed, people who they want to send information. Before, they were just painting in caves to record or draw the series of events. As time passes by, typewriters and printing press were invented for everyone who wants to print information for everyone. Until such time Electronic Age came, computers were discovered that has essential use to store information. Presently, The New Media has been discovered this is the new form of communicating especially in virtual world by the use of internet. This describes as content available on-demand of internet and e-gadgets.
The world of technology continues to change bring many changes. It can be quite confusing for students, especially when it comes to the news media. People hear news over the radio, television, and even their computers. Most technologies described as “new media” are digital, and often have characteristics of being networkable, dense, compressible, interactive and impartial. Examples are the internet, websites, computer multimedia, games, CD-ROMs and DVDs. Young people are attracted to the easy means of getting information with internet based terminals or hand phones which provide them information of their choice anytime, anywhere.
Both media platform serve the same target audience be it online, in print or broadcast. As mentioned, each form of media has an objective which is to disseminate a particular message and keep the masses informed. However, for those whom purposes resemble each other, they have same target audience to cater to and thus, garnering the same audience. They key success, if new media is to ever succeed traditional media, is advanced technology in internet. Although social networking through new media has increased crime rates, it is one of the shortcomings that can be eradicated. With technology, new media has definitely exceeded the abilities of traditional media as an advertising alternative and smoothened the process of gathering concrete information for news articles.
Old is gold. But that does not mean that new changes should be overlooked or even cast aside. It will be beneficial for RTM to tap ways to respond to the global financial crisis and changes in demand, so as to enhance its role in society.
The Evolution of Media
Success
“ Real success is something we should all strive to attain. In the world we live in today, we have equated success to riches, prosperity, fortunes, cars, houses and so many mundane things. Real success is way beyond the physical things we can see, real success is all about the feeling of satisfaction we get when we accomplish a task or do something, it is the happiness we get just by remembering what we have achieved and how we did it, real success has to do with a lot of positive feelings about ourselves and pride in what we have been able to do. For one to be successful, the first and most important thing one needs to do is to set goals. Only through the setting of goals can one really have something to pursue and claim success when we got those things or meet the set goals and target. A very important ingredient in achieving real success is determination. It is important that we get all the skills that are required for us to be successful in our chosen field.”
The History of New Media
We are at the very beginning of a transformative communications revolution where technology has enabled the "un-tethering" of the masses from fixed communications points. The cell phone, lap top computer and wireless Internet have made communications mobile and persistent.
In this timeline, we are going to discuss the evolution of media generation to generation. This include how media is used during the Pre- Industrial age, Industrial age, Information age. and Electronic age.
Media influence has become so powerful today that they can easily influence people positively and/or negatively. We also live in a society that depends on the media as a source of entertainment and information. Indeed, the media images affect both individuals and society which includes women, men, teenagers and younger children.
Today, our life will remain incomplete without media. For example, it provides an easy means of communication where people are able to contact friends and family from another side of the world. At the same time, media like television, radio and the Internet enhance our knowledge by providing access to information from all over the world. We can also receive different types of news or daily events through media, almost instantly, for example, through the Internet.
Generally, media has really played its role in each of us. The use of media can be both positive and negative to the individual or society. In a positive way, media makes our lifestyle easier, for example, we can get to know what is going on out there, locally or globally, within a short space of time. Even though there are so many benefits from media, we have to be careful not to let them influence us unknowingly. We need to be wise when using the media.
New Media are forms of media that are native to computers, computational and rely on computers for redistribution. Some examples of new media are shown above. New media are often contrasted to “old media”, such as television, radio, and print media, although scholars in communication and media studies have criticized rigid distinctions based on oldness and novelty. New media does not include television programs (only analog broadcast), feature films, magazines, books, – unless they contain technologies that enable digital generative or interactive processes. Wikipedia and encyclopedia are also considered as new media because of combining internet accessible digital text, images and video with web-links, creative participation of contributors, interactive feedback of users and formation of a participant community of editors and donors for the benefit of non-community readers.
Corruption is a form of dishonesty or criminal activity undertaken by a person or organization entrusted with a position of authority, often to acquire illicit benefit, or, abuse of entrusted power for one's private gain. It has many different shapes as well as many various effects, both on the economy and the society at large. Most of the time politicians are the one who violate this crime.
Their are many factors that why politicians tend to corrupt. One of it's factor because of the greed of money that they desires. Another factor is the high levels of bureaucracy and inefficient administrative structures. Lastly is the weak civil participation and low political transparency.
But we could provide solutions for corruption. We should promote political transparency and access to information. Also we should empower the citizens because it will help to build mutual trust between people and government. Lastly reform public administration and finance management because it will improves the financial management and strengthening the role of auditing agencies. I hope that these words could be put into action.
