All you guys talking about “zodiac signs.” Fuck you. I was never even born. I was created in a lab.
it’s called a changeover. the movie goes on, and nobody in the audience has any idea. * TYLER DURDEN and THE NARRATOR, written by sammy and bobby.
The Andromeda Strain (1971)
Director: Robert Wise
bunburie:
Did he mishear when she said Cairo? Did she imagine saying it at all? Mordecai has a private jet and it won’t leave until the two of them have joined him on it, but that’s not the point. When she left him he was changing into his travelling outfit; he’ll be on the runway right now, lounging, waiting, growing more impatient by the second. “Powder it in the car.”
‘I suppose the theme isn’t ‘three day old sweaty t-shirt’? If it is, I’m overdressed.’ He rises from his barstool and finishes his drink. Mordecai will likely have something prepared for him and drinks available both in the car and on the plane, so he follows Virginia without hesitation.
bunburie:
“Hello.” It should be a total surprise to see her; nobody called ahead, least of all Virginia herself, and it’s verging on midnight. She clips her nails on the back of her phone for a moment. He looks very not-ready. “Mordecai requests your presence for a night of begin-quote glamour and frivolity end-quote. He says that begin-quote you are quite free to decline end-quote but should I return empty-handed he shall be begin-quote terribly upset and disinclined to speak to you for no less than a month end-quote.” A pause stretches between them, during which Virginia decides it’s probably pertinent to specify: “It’s in Cairo.”
He’s not ready as he’s drinking off the day’s work in the lobby bar of the hotel he was put into by the government, and they’re not going to be pleased that he was found so easily. They should have expected it, he’ll tell them, the amount of trackers and sensors they’ve sewn into his clothes and put under his skin. Still, he’s always known that Viriginia is good at her job. ‘Do I have time to powder my nose?’
deepglens:
Lilith smiles the dazzling smile of a Playboy model in response. “Aw, don’t say that, hon. Lady Luck doesn’t appreciate a bad attitude.” She’s had him picked out since the moment he walked in, but there are plenty of other interesting people in attendance as well, and all of them tracked in one way or another.
‘She might be elusive, I still aim to woo her,’ he steps away from the wheel, closer to Lilith, sizing her up with as much subtlety as he’s been trained to have, ‘if you’ll point me in her direction.’
rekant:
‘ are you trying to insult me? ’ the accent is not her own. or, maybe it is, now - it is difficult to remember which parts of her are her own. it’s certainly not the one she’d donned the last they spoke. the gun stays, pointed at his chest. ‘ i would prefer it if you didn’t try to upset me. i can be impulsive. ’
His accent probably isn’t the same either, but that’s by the by. He’s the first to lower his gun, safety on and finger away from trigger, ‘I wouldn’t dare try to upset you, not on purpose. Where’s the fun in that?’
bunburie:
“Of course.” The champagne is slightly pink and flecked with flakes of gold leaf, floating suspended like snow in a snowglobe. Mordecai has a sip of his own. If he’s being honest, the gold leaf is a little problematic, tending to stick to the first thing it touches, and more often than not he’s licking his lips to clear it up, but it’s a sumptuous excess – one of his favourite things. “I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say that soon enough you’ll be able to look up anywhere in the night sky and see one of mine shooting around up there.”
‘--And is that alone satisfying?’ He doesn’t want to sound like he’s spurring Mordecai on at all, he shouldn’t, he knows it doesn’t take much at all. There’s flecks of gold leaf around his mouth, a quick swipe with the back of his hand leaves his knuckles glittering, when he briefly smiles the gold leaf is visible between his teeth.
im writing the quote unquote villain to sammys @boldead his name is mordecai avelli and id die for him
You know, you almost had us convinced that you were going to change your ways. They were really rooting for you. It’s gonna break their hearts.
@deepglens
Red and black swirl in his eyes until the roulette wheel comes to a halt and the ball lands in the gutter, the double zero. It’d hurt less if that wasn’t staring him in the face. He looks up at the nearest person drifting past, not expecting it to be Lilith but not letting his recognition show. ‘I think I prefer to lose my money at cards.’
@rekant
At this point, they’re old friends. The kind that hold loaded pistols on each other the second they cross paths. ‘Whose pocket do I find you in this time?’
@stides
‘What’s on the menu today?’ He has to be fond of the Development department, they more than practically raised him, so he’s in a good mood as he enters the room. The door seals itself shut behind him.
@bunburie
A streak of gold zips through the sky, tiny but not too difficult to spot for Jim’s keen eyes. The evening is balmy and the champagne in his hand is trailing cool condensation to his fingers. He draws his eyes down to the person accompanying him and leading the stroll, ‘--and you expect the second launch to be just as successful? Bigger being better.’
