i donāt think ravi the perpetual buddie thirdwheeler should end now that heās no longer single, in fact it should evolve and now heās somehow bringing may to doubledates where mayravi are the only two aware that itās a double date
Normal American Guy: have you seen what these "transgenders" are sexualizing? they're reenacting childhood experiences. it's disgusting and un-american.
Every Good Ol' American Rock Song: šøš¤ I can't stress enough how much this girl is underage šø š¶
[If you guys were the writers and you had to make Buddie go cannon how would you do it?]
Ao3-Buddie-feed Title: Cake or Death Summary: by glorious_spoon Thereās a clear plastic container on the kitchen table. Eddie sets the bag down warily on the counter, approaches it warily, as if itās a live grenade. Which is prescient, he realizes a moment later. It is, as the message suggested, a cake. A small one, sized so that a person could eat it in a single sitting if they were feeling greedy and indulgent. Chocolate layers, topped with a silky-looking ganache; Buck even sprinkled little curls of white chocolate around the edges for decoration. Lettering piped in bright red frosting, uneven but perfectly legible, reads, DONāT IGNORE ME, I SUCKED YOUR DICK . I think it would be great if we had a really domestic scene of Buddie and boys and Eddie is off work for whatever reason, Buck is running late, he gives a kiss on the head to Theo, and Chris, and gives one to Eddie, takes 2 steps away, pauses, audibly says "I'm not touching that before work" and continues to leave for work while Eddie sits there BRIGHT red with Chris laughing and Theo clueless
they're a family, your honor
an update to this set i made a year ago (exactly one year ago, in fact!) based on the tags left by @vvivacious101
theo asking buck at a 118 family dinner if ādadā can read his bedtime story tonight because he does better voices. the mood gets a little somber and buck tries to save it by saying āhey, but you liked when i read you that story we picked out yesterday, right bud?ā and theo groans and is like ānooo, i like it when dad does it!ā and points at eddie. bc dad is what christopher calls him. buck proceeds to choke on his drink and only recovers after eddie thumps him on the back a handful of times (the madneyhenren group chat is on fire for the rest of the night)
Buck: Listen⦠there are 8 billion people on this planet. And⦠realistically, my soulmate has to be out there somewhere.
Buck: Young or old, male or female - or something in between or not in between- there must be someone out there that love me for me.
Buck: SERIOISUSLAY!!! They are out there and I will find them!
Eddie: (softly) soulmates are stupid, I love you on purpose.
Buck:
Eddie:
Buck:
Eddie: (Looks at the 911 writers)
Eddie: Oh, right. But No Homo.
I do find it really funny when people call Eddie a brat tamer....
That man is not a brat Tamer, he loves it when Buck is a brat. He thinks it's funny. He is a brat enabler.
Oliver said in his m&g that Eddie isnāt in the coma dream because Ryan broke his nose 3 days before filming so they had to rewrite everything šš
My truth is the original script had Buck and Eddie meeting anyway where Chris was in Buckās class
after chris leaves the hospital eddie sits silently with buck for a while before going 'you know, one good thing about not being in the icu -- my kid doesn't have to sneak in.'
buck chuckles and peels eddie's clementine for him while saying 'yeah, thank god he couldn't come during covid when you got shot, those crutches aren't exactly sneaky.'
'i mean, we managed,' eddie keeps eating and doesn't notice buck's confused blink.
'what?'
eddie looks at him and waves a piece of bread as he clarifies: 'you know. when he snuck in to see you while you were in that lightning coma. wasn't easy, but i bet pepa would be just as a good a distraction as carla.'
and buck visibly reboots at this information. 'i...he did that? for me?'
eddie raises an eyebrow at him. 'yeah, he did it for me, too.'
'but you're-- you're his dad.'
a shrug. 'don't see what difference it makes,' eddie says it like it's a given, like it's nothing special at all. 'his dad, his buck-- can't keep that kid away from the people he loves.'
and buck does that exhale-laugh that he does, blinking a little too quick. 'yeah,' he says. 'i guess so.'
Crying sobbing
Eddie promised Buck he would take good care of Theo. Obviously. Buck had to pick up an extra shift and Eddie was the only option, so here they are, at Eddieās house, alone, with Eddie who feels a little like his heart is beating out of his chest. Itās a feeling heās distinctly acquainted with, but he wonāt dwell on that thought, for now.
He is pretty sure that he can be a decent dad. He is a great, awesome dad, but chances are heāll never fully believe that. Especially after the whole Chris-in-Texas parenthesis. However, he knows he can successfully babysit a toddler and survive, making sure that they both make it through the day and he can return said toddler safe to his parent (which is a thought heād probably associate with a postal package but⦠heās stressed). Thatās what he keeps reminding himself while he follows Theo around the house.
He never told Buck, but thereās no mistaking this kid for anyone other than Buckās son. And Eddie kind of loves it. Part of Eddie, after hearing all about Buckās childhood, wishes he could teleport back in time and hold baby Buck, protecting him from all harm, but thatās probably just his paternal instincts taking over him from time to time. Taking care of Theo gives him the impression that heās doing something good for Buck, and for baby Buck.
However, whenever heās with the kid, especially when they are alone, he doesnāt have much room to sit down and think. And he loves it. Really. He doesnāt mind at all that Theo is such an energetic and intelligent kid. If anything, he loves him for it.
The problem is that his brain-to-mouth filter is completely gone most of the time.
And thatās something that Eddie definitely does not like. Especially since realizing how in love he is with his best friend.
Buck is the most important person in his life after Christopher, and he cannot and wonāt jeopardize that.
Except that Theo probably has other plans for him. Because itās not Eddieās fault that the kid has begged him for ice cream and not his fault that he canāt resist him, so now theyāre trying not to get chocolate ice cream all over his couch and Theo is completely covered in it.
Itās not Eddieās fault, really. Theo keeps giggling and Eddie is a little bit tired. āLook at you, Theo!ā He says, and the kid just keeps giggling like Eddie is the funniest man alive. āWhat are we telling your dad?ā
It just⦠slips out.
And Theo doesnāt flinch, not like Eddie does. Instantaneously and violently. Fuck. He really shouldnāt have said that, but Theo doesnāt seem to notice, so he wonāt bring it up.
Theo just smiles, a bit mischievously and says ācall Buck!ā
Eddie sighs. He fucking loves this kid. Itās honestly unfair. āWe canāt call Buck, buddy, heās at work, remember?ā He gently reminds him.
Theo seems to think about it, then nods, and then throws himself at Eddie, who is crouched down by the couch, so in two seconds flat, they are both covered in ice cream.
And Eddie is wearing a white tee, but he wonāt budge. Not a time for a mental breakdown. He was a soldier. He can survive a mini Buck.
āTheoā¦ā
āEddie!ā Theo delightfully wraps his arms around Eddieās neck and squeezes and Eddie wants to drop on the floor, precisely lying down, and sob until heās dying from dehydration.
āEddieās got you!ā Then he whispers in Eddieās neck, because Buck is always telling him that, and Eddieās heart becomes dust in his chest. Thereās no way it has not exploded.
āYeah,ā he breathes out, all chocked up and emotional. āI always got you.ā And then, when Theo wiggles free, he adds, ānow we gotta get you in a bath, bud.ā
By the time Buck comes home, Christopher is sound asleep in his room, but Theo seems determined to win his battle against sleep and waits for Buck with only one eye open.
āHey, Theo, you can sleep, buddy, Iām here,ā Buck reassures him, kneeling down next to the little bed.
Theo smiles. Somehow, his smile manages to always carry a spark of something playful and smart, and Buck loves him for that. āHello,ā he sleepily murmurs. Then he turns to Eddie, to look at him for a moment, before succumbing to sleep. āDonāt tell dad, Eddie.ā
Eddie remains frozen on the spot, looking at Buck, while Buck looks at Theo like heās a ticking bomb.
āIā I think, itās, uh, my fault, I guess?ā Eddie says, whispering.
