little run-ins // caesar + maribelle
Maribelle was at quite a loss for words, so she wordlessly took the jacket, muttering out a “Thank you.” She thought for a moment, trying to think of a polite way to decline him, but she wasn’t very good at thinking on her feet at this point.
“Well I suppose I couldn’t stop you, but I really must be going, I have a job interview you see.” Feeling a little awkward and rude at just accepting his jacket, she shrugged it on, deciding that she would feel more shamefaced about it later, after she went through her interview without looking like a slob.
“Please let me take care of any expenses concerning your shirt, I would feel quite rude not returning your kindness.”
Maribelle most definitely considered herself a prideful woman. As such, she couldn’t let a kind gesture go unanswered, so she crossed her arms, well aware that the clock was ticking on her.
❧❧『 As Maribelle put his jacket on, he couldn't help but let his mind drift for a moment because she looked so cute. He found himself grinning without realising, and her voice brought him out of his thoughts again. A job interview? Well damn, what were they doing just standing around? He should immediately get them on their way if she was running late for something as important as that.
"Nevermind about the shirt right now, signora," Caesar chirped, grabbing the small woman by the wrist. "You were heading this way, right? Let's go!" He began to speed-walk in the opposite direction he had previously been going in, dragging poor Maribelle along after him. He didn't walk too fast, though, because the height difference would surely mean her little legs couldn't keep up.
"What kinda job is it?" asked Caesar, looking back and down to her, blinking curiously. 』
