A Study in Scarlet posters (1/2) for “In Which Dr. Watson Engages in Studies of Cardiology”
I just discovered procreate automatically makes timelapses so here’s a ~1.5 hour study of Gus my friend Gus and a process video
[ID: a digital painting of Burton Guster from Psych. He is shown in 3/4 profile from the shoulders up.]
If there are any of my pieces you’d be interested in seeing the process for lmk and I’ll post them if the file size limit allows!

A Queer Madness
[ID: A realistic digital painting of a bust of Napoleon, shattered into several shards of varying sizes each casting incongruously bold pop-art style shadows. Underneath these, there is a neon pink silhouette in the shape of the bust before it was broken. In this pink shape is neon yellow text reading “A Queer Madness”]
Finally finished the posters for all my chapters of my GREE adaptation which you can read here: In Which Dr Watson Measures the Viscosity of the Waters of the Womb
IDs in alt text
Liquid Courage
[ID: a digital drawing with several overlapping layers. In the furthest back layer is a mostly greyscale drawing of Sophy Kratides, a young Greek girl with long curly hair wearing a day dress and a capelet. She is curled in a ball, looking down at a hat pin she has clutched in her hands. The pin is dripping with blood and there are flecks on her hands, coat and face. In the next later there is a swooping belladonna plant, curved around the shape of Sophy. The plant has bell-shaped purple flowers and darker purple berries. In the next layer there is an amber-colored glass bottle tilted down so a thin drop of liquid is spilling from its neck. The liquid is red and is lined up above the tip of Sophy's pin. Overlaid above the bottle is cursive purple text that reads "Liquid Courage."]
im basically like if björk was forced to get a job and be normal
basically I’m like this
guy working on an artwork they knew would push them technically: what the hell why do i keep doing this wrong. am i haunted by malevolent spirits and such
suns out tums out
[ID: A digital painting of John Watson sleeping in the grass, resting his head on his right hand. in the grass. He is shirtless and wearing medium brown trousers. He is a transhumeral amputee on his left side with a keloid scar on his shoulder. There are several metal ports embedded in his muscles surrounding the amputated arm, each with small amounts of scarring surrounding them.]
With Adequate Adversity
[ID: a digital drawing made mostly of halftones. In the upper left corner there is a barking dog’s head being pulled back with a prong collar surrounded by dots of spittle. It is illustrated so only the highlights are visible. Behind this are several shades of red halftones in the vague shape of a lunging dog. In the bottom right corner there is askew text that reads “with adequate adversity”]
That Child You Pity
[ID: A digital drawing of a young, pre-transition Holmes hiding in a closet. He is wearing a white sleeveless undershirt, white drawers and white socks. He is curled in a ball with one hand threaded through his hair, gripping his head, looking over his arm towards the viewer. He is partially in shadow, except for a sliver of light coming from a cracked door. In the sliver of light on the floor in front of him, text reads “That Child You Pity”]
I realized the other day that I’ve never drawn Nell so here is the incomparable Lady Eleanor
[ID: A drawing of a bull and terrier (breed that was a precursor to the Staffordshire Bull Terrior) on a light team background. She is mostly white with some brown splotches and has cropped ears. She is wearing a leather collar with a name tag that reads “Nell”]
[ID: Two sketches of people holding Nell from the ID above. In the top left, Watson in his early to mid twenties is holding Nell as a puppy in both of his arms and looking down at her smiling. She is looking at the viewer with her tongue out. In the bottom right, Holmes is cupping adult Nell’s head in both of his hands and cooing down at her. In the top right is text that says “what a good girl” with hearts around it.]
that time of the month
[Image ID: a traditional gouache painting of a werewolf. She looks mostly like a regular timber wolf with the exception of her human eyes, and raised front paw which resembles a human hand. She is standing on all fours in the snow staring at the viewer, grinning widely. Her mouth is covered in blood and there is a puddle of it in the snow beneath her head. Behind the snow is a red sky with a full moon. Underneath the full moon are magnified versions of her eyes: wolf shaped but with exposed whites and brown human irises and pupils. The eyes are wide and bloodshot, and evoke a feeling somewhere between panic and rage.]
Shenanigans afoot
[ID: A digital pencil sketch of Holmes and Watson shown from the shoulders up. Watson is side-eyeing Holmes with a scowl. Holmes is sporting a mischievous and very self-satisfied smile.]
What A Friendship Is
[ID: a digital drawing of two people seated from behind on a dark purple background. Watson is on the right, cross legged and not wearing his suit jacket. Holmes is on the left, his position ambiguous as he is covered in Watson’s missing suit jacket. A thin red line which has several small loops in it is overlaid on top of both of them. Above them is text which reads “what a friendship is”]
beautiful brown cow eyed Watson is so real to me that when people describe him as having blue eyes in fic I get confused and I have to remind myself that given the appearance of most of the actors who've played him that is the far more popular interpretation
@deckhanddandy how is Holmes ever supposed to say no when he hits him with the
[ID: a stylized cartoon drawing of Watson with a sad face, pressing his fingers together. His eyes are large and brown with heart shaped highlights in them and thick lashes. Next to him is text reading “pwetty pwease”]
