A Study in Scarlet posters (1/2) for “In Which Dr. Watson Engages in Studies of Cardiology”
How to get through the workday 💖
Read SIXN CH 2: Honest Reporting
[ID: A fake newspaper page showing an etching of Sherlock Holmes on a horse in the pose of Napoleon in “Napoleon Crossing the Alps.” Below this is a headline that reads “Honest Reporting” and an article by “A. Principled Journalist” The article is cut off but reads “A cynical detective shocked audiences this morning when he claimed that the act of narrative is inherently dishonest. Many question his assertion and are calling for him to retract the statement. One source stated that attempting to hold journalists and other writers to the standard of representing the absolute ontological truth is “a ridiculous endeavour that cannot be meaningfully… for a statement, his representatives stated ‘Mr… did not intend offense and believes the press to… most valuable institution.’ While some seem to be sated by this attempt a… many call for him to retract the original statem… to beg for forgiveness of the people who br… oh so valuable news. The jury of public opinio…” To the side of the etching are two partially cut off agony column advertisements which read “LOST: Asp… Writer’s He… Lost somewhere nea… Bart’s Hospital. Pleas… inquire 221 B Baker S… no reward” and “WANTED: Information Whereabou… Red Republ… Please send any infor… or hearsay about me… places for foreign-mi… anarchists to or Nihil… government plots to… Kennington Road. The paper’s name is also cut off at the top but reads “Central Press Syndicate”]
oh my god I can’t believe I forgot to post the most cursed and evil thing I have ever made. Happy j2 fallout day (and belated birthday) @sadevildean
[ID: a gouache on wood painting that is a recreation of a screenshot of a Jensen Ackles instagram post. In the photo he is in a shower, shirtless, wet, and screaming. The caption reads “Late night filming. 3am. Listening to @toolmusic may not be the best thing to put me to bed Or is it Just trying to cope with shit”]
POV: your stupid roommate is wearing a waistcoat that is your favorite color and looking all stupid and handsome and it’s 8am and you want him to die
(aka what Watson is wearing during this scene of my SIXN adaptation)
[ID: a digital drawing of John Watson from the waist up, leaning back on something that he also is resting a hand on. He is wearing a light brown waistcoat with 16 small mother of pearl buttons and a robins egg blue tie. One of his sleeves is cuffed at the elbow, revealing his prosthetic arm.]
I know Sherlock Holmes gets migraines and I know he is so fucking annoying to deal with when he has one
Like he’d be fucking miserable
[ID: a comic of a cartoony version of Holmes and Watson. Watson is standing and saying several speech bubbles that include texts copied from migraine care websites that read “Do not mess with your sleep schedule. Aim to get 7-9 hours of sleep every night. Do not skip meals, and do not eat lots of junk food. A sudden drop in blood sugar can trigger a migraine. Do not let yourself get dehydrated. Dehydration is a common trigger for headaches and can exacerbate a migraine. Do not take pain medication for more than 3 or 4 days in a row. Developing the body's resistance and expectation of medication can bring on a headache and affect the efficacy and effectiveness of the medicine. Do not try to "motor through" a migraine. Ignoring the pain will not make it go away— in fact, it may make the pain worse and the duration of the migraine longer.” And “Avoid smoking. Evidence suggests that smoking may: increase the risk of migraine medication, overuse, increase the use of opiate migraine medications, link to worse psychological health alongside migraine, such as depression and stress, trigger new migraine episodes. If you would like help avoiding smoking or using tobacco products, talk with a doctor for advice. They can discuss medical and lifestyle approaches that may help.” Holmes is sitting on the floor, frowning and clutching his head. He is saying, “You never let me do ANYthing” with a frowny face emoji]
I just discovered procreate automatically makes timelapses so here’s a ~1.5 hour study of Gus my friend Gus and a process video
[ID: a digital painting of Burton Guster from Psych. He is shown in 3/4 profile from the shoulders up.]
If there are any of my pieces you’d be interested in seeing the process for lmk and I’ll post them if the file size limit allows!

A Queer Madness
[ID: A realistic digital painting of a bust of Napoleon, shattered into several shards of varying sizes each casting incongruously bold pop-art style shadows. Underneath these, there is a neon pink silhouette in the shape of the bust before it was broken. In this pink shape is neon yellow text reading “A Queer Madness”]
Finally finished the posters for all my chapters of my GREE adaptation which you can read here: In Which Dr Watson Measures the Viscosity of the Waters of the Womb
IDs in alt text
Liquid Courage
[ID: a digital drawing with several overlapping layers. In the furthest back layer is a mostly greyscale drawing of Sophy Kratides, a young Greek girl with long curly hair wearing a day dress and a capelet. She is curled in a ball, looking down at a hat pin she has clutched in her hands. The pin is dripping with blood and there are flecks on her hands, coat and face. In the next later there is a swooping belladonna plant, curved around the shape of Sophy. The plant has bell-shaped purple flowers and darker purple berries. In the next layer there is an amber-colored glass bottle tilted down so a thin drop of liquid is spilling from its neck. The liquid is red and is lined up above the tip of Sophy's pin. Overlaid above the bottle is cursive purple text that reads "Liquid Courage."]
im basically like if björk was forced to get a job and be normal
basically I’m like this
guy working on an artwork they knew would push them technically: what the hell why do i keep doing this wrong. am i haunted by malevolent spirits and such
suns out tums out
[ID: A digital painting of John Watson sleeping in the grass, resting his head on his right hand. in the grass. He is shirtless and wearing medium brown trousers. He is a transhumeral amputee on his left side with a keloid scar on his shoulder. There are several metal ports embedded in his muscles surrounding the amputated arm, each with small amounts of scarring surrounding them.]
With Adequate Adversity
[ID: a digital drawing made mostly of halftones. In the upper left corner there is a barking dog’s head being pulled back with a prong collar surrounded by dots of spittle. It is illustrated so only the highlights are visible. Behind this are several shades of red halftones in the vague shape of a lunging dog. In the bottom right corner there is askew text that reads “with adequate adversity”]
That Child You Pity
[ID: A digital drawing of a young, pre-transition Holmes hiding in a closet. He is wearing a white sleeveless undershirt, white drawers and white socks. He is curled in a ball with one hand threaded through his hair, gripping his head, looking over his arm towards the viewer. He is partially in shadow, except for a sliver of light coming from a cracked door. In the sliver of light on the floor in front of him, text reads “That Child You Pity”]
I realized the other day that I’ve never drawn Nell so here is the incomparable Lady Eleanor
[ID: A drawing of a bull and terrier (breed that was a precursor to the Staffordshire Bull Terrior) on a light team background. She is mostly white with some brown splotches and has cropped ears. She is wearing a leather collar with a name tag that reads “Nell”]
[ID: Two sketches of people holding Nell from the ID above. In the top left, Watson in his early to mid twenties is holding Nell as a puppy in both of his arms and looking down at her smiling. She is looking at the viewer with her tongue out. In the bottom right, Holmes is cupping adult Nell’s head in both of his hands and cooing down at her. In the top right is text that says “what a good girl” with hearts around it.]
