two different dogs 10 years apart
I didn’t stage this, just coincidence that we still own the same blanket and both dogs curled up on it.

little update on the bon bon
Nicknames we have made up with her - turns out Bonnie is a great name to riff off of.
“The Bonster” (rhymes with Monster) when she’s in a land shark mood.
“Bongo” - discovered when I said “Bonnie let’s go! Bon Go!”
“Bon Bon” when she’s been a little sweetie
Anyway the bonster is doing well. We just finished 6 weeks of puppy classes. Her last set of shots are this Sunday. She’s growing like a weed! She keeps tearing holes in my clothing 😵💫
But as I keep saying to my husband “she’s getting better about her biting every day I swear”
Sitting on the patio at a restaurant watching the world go by.
she’s growing!!
She’ll be sad when she can’t ambush us from under the furniture anymore
she is so small
Our first training video 🙂
update the morning of day 4
We have now had two full days plus one half day. Starting day four!
Observations
Sleep at night is pretty good! 5am wake ups but I’m kind of ok with that, just gives me more time in the day before work.
i got my first bite that broke the skin! I don’t remember Betsy ever biting hard enough to break skin haha. She was outside and full of beans and just threw herself at me out of nowhere in a playful manic way. Anyway hopefully this is my last owie and not my first 😂
I had to work yesterday. Was a bit hard but she was really pretty good. She slept in her crate in my office for a few hours. My husband who was home sick played with her when she was awake.
today we’re going to the vet. I discovered fleas on her last night argh. I had been kind of wondering because she seemed quite itchy so I checked her and found one
so we did a bath! Which she hated! Every morning I had been working on desensitization around the bath tub to gradually work up to it so I was disappointed I was forced to do a full bath before she was ready. But also I felt like it had to be done, the fleas ☹️
she’s not a big eater. I hand feed kibble and she never has much. If I give her a snuffle mat she’ll have a few but not a ton. I got some soft treats which she spat out
hopefully she grows into loving food or training will be a bit tricky. I think she will. I am going to try making some home made treats today.
so far we have not worked on many things. Just “pup pup pup” to get her to run to me (works great!) “sit” because she was already halfway there so it’s easy to keep reenforcing, and desensitization to noises and grooming activities (going ok other than the bath incident)
she seems fairly indifferent to noises, hoping that lasts. Sometimes a sudden loud noise startles her but she recovers quick.
Two nights in!
Two nights in! We’re doing so good over here. No accidents in the house so far, lots of sitting to ask for things, a little bit of crying at night on night one but night two we had a nice long sleep.
Getting more comfortable, yesterday evening and today the little sharp teefs made an appearance lots of bitey bite bite
lots of napping,
knock on wood but she seems kind of good at self regulating, when she gets tired she finds a comfy spot and puts herself to sleep. Hope she stays this way!
welcome home Bonnie!
Yesterday we brought home Bonnie.
she’s 8 weeks old.
I previously posted on https://betsyadventures.tumblr.com for 12 years, from the day we brought her home as a pup to the day she died.
Now we have someone new in our life to love ❤️
