Demos for the classic “Get Happy!” masterpiece album.

it is a great treat to be able to hear the original production master of this track without the vocals. The strings build, in a Bach-like style, and take the breath away.

It is almost like hearing this track anew, or like hearing it for the first time again. Can you remember the way “Imagine” moved you the first time you heard it?

I was moved to tears the first time I heard this mix. The strings are both emotionally building as well as gradually tearful. It is the strangest tension for the emotions.

This version of the song was and early studio version with Bruce and included as a Bonus Track on the last album her recorded with Samson, even though the actual song was recorded on the following album with a different singer. It’s a cool song and, if you’re a fan of raw early 80′s metal, definitely give it a listen.

An absolutely brilliant acoustic performance in a well-recorded video featuring Jeff and his original collaborator in ELO.

The songs have gotten ripe for revisitation. Jeff was wise in waiting as long as he did to bring back ELO and tour again. Can’t wait to see new material!

What a great listen! Recorded in 2012.

The original copies of Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space featured an alternate version of the title track that was then removed from the later reissues of the album. The original version of the song featured much of the lyrics/melody of Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling In Love With You sung in the background of the song as well as being much more present in the main vocals. The result created a much more atmospherically driven and downright gorgeous song, but the Presley Estate made them remove it due to copyright claims. The song was finally featured on the 2009 deluxe reissue of the album, under the condition that it be called Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space (I Can’t Help Falling In Love)

The End - Loving, Sacred Loving (1968)

This song sounds so much like the Rolling Stones circa Their Satanic Majesties Request, that it has appeared on Stones bootlegs.  The fact that Bill Wyman co-wrote and produced, explains the similar sound - an appealing one, if you ask me.  Especially when the bass kicks in. Pretty cool. Nicky Hopkins on harpsichord.

Little Wing had been in development for awhile before being put on tape.   This is the first rendition…it originally was called “Little Wind”.   Even though it’s quite raw, the recording is very strong and the guitar solo here is perhaps even better than what eventually made it on the LP Axis: Bold as Love.  This came from a great 4 CD box set.

Buffalo Springfield - Down to the Wire (1966)

This is not the version found on Neil Young’s Decade. Not only that, Stephen Stills is singing not Neil. I’m honestly not sure which one I prefer.
