why are their accents relevant like?

because the yorkshire accent and dialect is constantly shit on? it’s almost always used as a caricature to paint someone from the northern regions as less smart that those with more “polished” accents. 

a minority with a working class english accent or an ethnic accent (pakistani accent, in this case) will have a harder time being taken seriously than if they had a posh one. that’s why it matters and is one of the reasons i fell in love with Ackley Bridge
