They do! This might not seem like a spoiler but it kinda is… Beth shows up about halfway through the story. She knows about Amelia before she meets Amelia and she is IMPATIENT about having her be a part of her life. There are reasons they don’t meet earlier in the story (which are covered). But Beth and Amelia have such a beautiful but undefined relationship and I loooooove writing it. I also loooove writing Thad’s asshole opinion on it though 🤷‍♀️. Take that for what you will.

Olicity fic beta job, anyone?

Hi fandom. I was wondering if there would be some kind soul willing to do a beta job for me on my new Arrow (Olicity) fic, since I am new to the fandom and am not an established writer yet.

The fic is about 5000-5500 words at this point and is a S6 finale - S7 speculation fic which I started to write before the finale aired but it will be, in most parts, canon-compliant.

I would need to do go through the fic and mostly look at grammar, readability and natural flow (I am not a native-speaker, so it can be challenging sometimes). I am also always open to discussion and criticism of the plot/characterizations/writing, but that’s extra work for the beta, so basic proof-reading would be more than fine at this point.

So in case you feel particularly generous today, please be so kind and write me a PM (or reblog with a comment, but PM would probably be safer for me to spot), I would really be grateful!!

Nothing is set in stone, so you can back away any time you feel like this is not something for you (my story or beta job-wise).

honestly? i'd love an amnesia plot bc we know michael will love jane until his last breath so an amnesia plot would mean they have to fall back in love

The thought of an amnesia plot, a GOOD amnesia plot makes me really happy because I love angst and suffering (as long as both people remain ALIVE @ season 3 episode 10).

okay so….Michael comes back, but he doesn’t remember her, he doesn’t remember any of it. And Jane can’t believe it. She’s so overwhelmed because…he’s there. He’s there, and she’d thought she’d lost him forever. She’d buried him in the ground and he’d taken her heart with him. And now she doesn’t just have him back, she has her heart back. She hadn’t even known that it was missing, not really. Its been so long since she’s felt love like this. She’d forgotten she could feel it at all. So in love that it’s almost overwhelming. So in love that it’s easier to breathe. So in love that she isn’t afraid. She’s safe. Of course it doesn’t matter that he doesn’t remember, because at least they’re together. at least he’s there.

…but he’s not there. Not really. A few months pass and he hasn’t gotten any better. She’d thought she could will him to back to normal. She’d thought the strength of her love would be enough. But it isn’t. He doesn’t know their story, and she doesn’t want to pressure him, she doesn’t want to force this. He saw a wedding photo at Abuela’s and he’d sat there stunned and confused for the next quarter hour. Much worse, so much worse, she’d unconsciously grabbed for his hand, and he’d pulled away. They’d been walking, and she had gotten him to laugh, and it had felt for a minute like old times. She’d done it without thinking, out of nowhere. And He’d recoiled from her touch. Then he’d apologized for it. “I’m sorry, you just took me by surprise is all. No—I don’t mind it, I definitely don’t mind it! I was only surprised….” and he’d tried to take her hand back, but it felt like he was placating her. Like he was desperately trying to not hurt her feelings. Everything he’s been through and he’s still trying to make HER feel better. But this isn’t about her. She can go slow if he needs her to go slow. She’d do anything for him. She just goes home and cries.

Things get better. It’s takes a while, because he has to relearn everything about her. It’s been so long, she has to relearn him as well. How could she have forgotten the scar on his left knee? How could she have let herself forget that? And the way that he scratches his ear when he’s nervous? Even little detail seems monumental. He doesn’t remember being married. He doesn’t remember her family. He doesn’t remember his old job. But all the important stuff is still there. His smile. His heart. His soul. He’s still Michael. It doesnt take long to fall back completely in love with him….after all, she’d never fallen out. It’s the waiting on him that’s the hard part. Having to hold herself back from touching him. Sharing her life with him. But he grins dorkily at her now, and makes jokes with her over text, and comes over for lunch with her and Mateo. it still takes awhile, but it’s getting better. She’ll wait as long as he needs.

When he asks her to go on a date with him, she honest to god bursts into tears right then and there, and ends up laughing through her tears and his exasperation. Her husband has just asked her on a date, and it feels more magical than the wedding day. They go to some taco place in the city, a new place, unconnected from their past. It feels good. It feels like a fresh start. They laugh over heaping plates of chips and queso and go home hand in hand.

They do go slow.

They fall back in love.

And One day, months later, he wakes up beside her, and blinks at the light streaming in against her window. He turns to her, and before he can say anything, she knows.

He remembers.

ANYWAY!!! Basically if season 5 was just them falling in love all over again I would HELL yes be ready for that!!! But a part of me is still gonna be pissed no matter what because even in that dream scenario, that means that they literally KILLED MICHAEL OFF for a season and half for NO REASON. (Trust me, I loathe that they killed him off solely to put Jane back with Rafael, which is a stupid as heck reason, but NO reason is somehow even worse). The JTV writers really are doing us dirty in any possible scenario here.

YOU KNOW WHAT I’ve been thinking a lot about this and basically the JTV writers drive me NUTS because no matter what happens, they’re really doing us all so dirty.

The likely scenario is that Michael stays dead which pisses me off for all the usual reasons (basically that there was no reason to kill him off and jump 3 years just to give Rafael a redemption arc and get him and Jane back together)

BUT if he comes back, there’s also no way this ends well. Either,

1) Jane thinks it’s not the same anymore and stays with Rafael, in which case I stg Jennie must hate me personally. In this scenario they would literally be bringing him back just to cut villadero shippers down more with “Rafael IS her first choice and they’d be endgame even if michael was alive” which, to not mince words, would really fucking suck. They would just be shitting on a beautiful relationship that I dearly loved and pretending it all meant nothing. If this happens……..I stfg

2) Jane and Michael fall back in love/get back together. Look, obviously this is MY best case scenario, but I can’t deny that this solution still really fucking sucks for the half of the fandom that adores jafael. I mean Michael DIED for that ship and then they finally do get back together, only for Michael to come back, meaning jafael shippers have to have it thrown in their faces AGAIN that he’s the worse option for Jane (which to me is valid and true LOL, BUT I ounderstand why it would piss a lot of people off)

Then there’s the whole other bucket of worms about why Michael has been missing for three years…….if it’s anything other than kidnapping/extreme threats/Amnesia then they also have to add complete character assassination to their list of vices, because Michael would NEVER willingly leave Jane and Mateo, and ESPECIALLY not for a job.

magnus turns onto his side and exhales carefully. it’s still dark outside, somewhere in that middle space between midnight and sunrise, chilly enough that the tip of his nose is cold. burrowing a little, he carefully shifts his arm under the blankets until just his hand emerges so that he can reach out to brush alec’s hair from his forehead. his fingers linger on twitch of alec’s brows, the soft shell of his ear, and he wonders sleepily: is this real?

even now, when his body’s just recognizing that it’s awake, there’s already an unexpected lightness in him, a gentle tingle making its way through his limbs that manifests itself as a broad smile as he stares at alec’s slumbering form. it feels ridiculous, in a way, but magnus doesn’t fight it, lets it grow until his shoulders tremble and his cheeks hurt. it’s not the first time he’s felt it – god, he feels it so much, all the time now – but this might be the first moment when he’s had a chance to think about it, to let everything slow down and just consider what it means.

he can count on two hands the people the number of people who’ve ever known the full truth of him. the people he’s grown close enough to that he’s felt inclined to share his history with them, every awful, bitter detail falling from his lips in a stuttered cascade. the people who know his mother killed herself because of him, who know that he murdered his stepfather as a child of ten, who know that his father is the most powerful prince of hell.

and he can count on one hand the number of those people who have stayed.

“nngh,” he hears faintly, and magnus blinks and watches as alec rolls onto his stomach, his arm curled heavy on magnus’ waist, his cheek squished against the pillow. he wonders, not for the first time, how it is that alec lightwood has come to mean so much to him so quickly. how it is that this shadowhunter, raised to fight and to hate and to shun magnus’ blood, can possibly look at magnus with all his demons exposed, and still bear to be with him. magnus can barely accept himself at times, can barely stand to look at his golden eyes in the mirror, can barely stand to think about his mother and father without drinking half a bottle of whiskey.

and yet alec…

scooting closer, magnus cups his hand against alec’s jaw. he savors the roughness of stubble, the warmth of his breath, and leans in closer until their foreheads touch.

“you love me,” magnus whispers out loud. he knows alec’s said it so many times, every morning, every night, every moment in between when magnus is feeling less than worthy, but saying it out loud for the first time, letting the words sink into his skin like a physical balm… it feels real. “you love me.”

how long has it been since magnus has been loved like this? has it ever been like this, this whole and this sweet and this… magnus inhales sharply when alec suddenly turns his head to kiss his palm, and mumbles, “duh. go to sleep, magnus.”

magnus laughs in startlement. the lightness in his chest bubbles brightly, a full-bodied thing that magnus can’t control as he pulls alec closer to him and presses his lips into alec’s hair, breathing in the heady scent of sandalwood shampoo. “okay,” he says quietly, before closing his eyes and wrapping the both of them tighter under the blankets. his eyes are just starting to shut when he sees alec smile in a dazed, sleepy response.

What’s the training process like for Eric as he becomes Arsenal? Does he parkour like Roy? Who does he end up marrying? What does he do in his day job? I feel like you could write a whole story about Eric, are you going to do that?

It’s extremely likely that Eric will get his own story when we’re doing original works, but not in fan fiction. With an eye to convert Tempest and the stories after it to publishable novels, @dust2dust34 and I are talking about what that universe looks like and how expansive it should be, how many other stories we can draw into it. There’s a lot. We have so many original characters that readers seem to latch onto wanting more of - Eric and Georgiana and Lillie and Connor and Maggie and Celeste and Javi and Sara and Elliot and Carlos and Matt and Bethany and basically everyone other than Thad DeWolfe (I see you @bookwormandpoet). I feel like the way their lives overlap gives us a good jumping off point to tell more stories, to build more fleshed out characters in this world - or whatever world we convert this to - and still draw in snippets of the original main characters’ lives at times.

So… yes, Eric will probably get his own story eventually, but I don’t know what it is yet. So, I can’t fully answer your question. I’ll say that because Roy helped train him, it was focused on Roy’s skills and experiences. So his training was a whole lot like Roy’s and so is his skillset.

***I can’t believe there are still 4(!) months left until the show and more importantly until Malec is back. Honestly, who tf thought that bringing the show back in April was a good idea? I just wanna talk. Especially when seeing all these spoilers and teasers. This is really not helping here!

Fairchild’s bakery is a second home to not just Magnus, but also to most of his found-family. tips for being in the fandom: love malec. all else will come naturally. this sounds like i’m being funny but i’m dead serious. come in with heart eyes and respect for them and you’ll have a good time :)

proof that you’re in the right place: if you whisper i hate CC and the movie sucked you are guaranteed to hear resounding shouts of agreement.

He wakes up with silk sheets clutched tight in his fists. Shifting, he feels a whisper of cool air ghost across his cheek from the open door, and he curls his body into a natural crescent toward the other side of the bed.

Magnus’ side of the bed.

For half a moment, he blinks at empty space, as if by determination alone he can will Magnus next to him. Or maybe if he whispers sorry enough times into his pillow, it will bring Magnus back to their bed, paired with that unguarded morning smile that lights his face up with quiet joy. Alec’s only just getting used to that smile, only just learning that its his to see every day without fail. It’s too soon for the pattern to break.

Throwing the blankets back, he plants his feet firm on the floor, digging his toes into the carpet and letting the chilled surface ground his breath. Slowly, he stands up, taking a second to crack his spine and stretch out his limbs before padding carefully to the door. It swings open without a creak to reveal the living room, bathed in the cool gray light of dawn that floods in from the windows.

There’s a tumbler half-filled with bourbon perched on the coffee table, as well as an empty mug, teabag still hanging from the lip. A few feet away, Magnus is sleeping on the black sofa, hunched in on himself with Alec’s fleece blanket draping around his torso. It looks like he never bothered magicking it larger — his shoulders are exposed, and his bare feet poke out from the bottom. Alec’s stomach lurches.

Stepping closer, he perches on the edge of the sofa, watching as Magnus’ nose twitches with the movement. He reaches out to smooth the hair from Magnus’ forehead, heart in his throat when he sees Magnus’ eyes drift open and cautiously stall on Alec’s face.

“I’m sorry,” Alec murmurs after a beat. He lets his gaze shift to the place where his fingers are tangled in Magnus’ hair, smooth strands slipping against his knuckles. “I shouldn’t have gotten mad at you last night. You saved us.”

Magnus’ expression is solemn and grave, shadows emphasizing his cheekbones and the downturn of his mouth. “I’m always going to want to protect you, Alexander.”

Alec exhales, remembering the vision of Magnus disappearing under the smoky limbs of a horde of demons, that sharp spear of fear piercing his chest when Magnus hadn’t reappeared, when Alec had been incapacitated and useless and he can’t imagine –

“Not at the expense of your own life,” Alec forces out. “Never that.”

Magnus’ hand rises, catching Alec’s own where it’s cupped against Magnus’ jaw. “But I’m here,” he says quietly.

Alec closes his eyes. “Yeah, you are.”

He feels fingers gentle on his chin, pulling him along the path of least resistance until Magnus’ lips brush his, that morning kiss that he’s learned to crave sweet on his tongue. Wordlessly, he maneuvers on his feet, planting his knees on either side of Magnus’ hips.

I missed you last night, he wants to say as he swallows Magnus’ kisses deep into his lungs. I hate it when you’re not with me. But the words flee his mind when he feels the solid warmth of Magnus’ chest under his palm, when he presses his fingers to the base of Magnus’ throat and feels his heartbeat pounding madly under his skin. Sweet, lazy touches give way for something more when Alec feels Magnus’ hands slide under his thighs, kneading at tense muscles, nails catching on the runes Alec has carved into his quads, and oh –

The sharp tug behind his navel makes the rest of him tremble, his forehead dropping gracelessly to meet Magnus’ as he gasps at the raw, feral ache of it. The feeling heightens when Magnus slips his fingers under the edge of Alec’s boxers, tracing the full burn of the runes that nobody else is allowed to see, nobody besides Magnus, and when Magnus cranes his neck to trace his tongue along those exposed lines, all the strength in Alec’s warrior’s legs disappears.

“Magnus,” he mumbles faintly. He doesn’t know what else to say – what else could there be to say? His eyes flicker toward Magnus’, and he sees the sentiment echoed in the ragged pleasure on his face, the heady stare on his mouth, the simmer of magic pulsing hotly under his skin.

Bed? he’s about to ask, but the words aren’t needed when their minds are in tune. The hands resting along Alec’s thighs traverse toward his ass, squeezing playfully before the muscles in Magnus’ arms bunch. Alec barely has a second to hitch his legs around Magnus’ waist before he’s being impossibly lifted, before Magnus is carrying him and stumbling toward their bedroom, lips nibbling at his collarbone now, and all Alec can do is dig his fingers into Magnus’ hair and try and try to cool the blood in his veins.

There’s no doubt that they’ll fight about this again. But he understands – he knows that the way that Magnus wants to protect him is the same way Alec wants to hold Magnus tight to his chest, to guard every breath he takes with Alec’s own fists. So for now, he lets it go. He lets himself laugh when Magnus lays him on the bed, when Magnus crawls up the length of him and smiles at him with his heart in his eyes. He laughs until he can’t anymore, until laughs turn to gasps, and all he knows is Magnus at his side.

I just stumbled across a Malec video on Youtube and I AM OBSESSED with the couple. I haven't ever watched the show but good Lord these two. Anyway, I just spent the past hour reading your fic and you are so talented, it's unreal (even though I will never forgive you for i count in years). Just wanted to say thank you for writing and sharing your fic and you will probably be keeping me sane during this hiatus (how am I supposed to wait until April for more Malec?? There is no God).

welcome to the beginning of the end. it would be about a year ago now that i did the exact same thing you did and it all went downhill from there.

but in all honesty thank you for the kind words and for making it over to ao3 to read the stuff i’ve written (and as a self-proclaimed angst monster i’m glad i count in years made an impact haha). you’ve got so much material to dig through while you wait with us for S3, so best of luck keeping your head above water as you bask in the glory that is magnus bane and alec lightwood. we are your nut job family here to support you through the hell that is hiatus.

Magnus didn’t touch Alec at the Institute.

Alec noticed it, to his frustration, only when it became painfully obvious. Magnus had come by the Institute to reinforce his wards, and though he’d gotten into a brief spat with Maryse-

“Your prices for your services are obscene. You’re only here to milk us dry, warlock.”

“I’m here because I want Alexander’s workplace to remain safe. I tried to give him a discount, but he insists on paying my usual rate. If you have a problem with it, take it up with the head of the Institute.”

-but was unruffled by it and seemed to be in a perfectly good mood. Alec caught him in the hallway outside his office. After some gentle flirting over ‘payment,’ Alec went to kiss his boyfriend, who pulled away and hurried off with the excuse of needing to finish his work.

Really need your help!

If you guys are on youtube at all you’ll know about the annual Project for awesome. My sister works at an organization and worked really hard to make a video for it. She made it, but things didn’t really work out, the video isn’t getting much recognition and she’s really upset about it. Queen Family first day of Hanukkah

The night had been just about perfect, all things considered. Sure when the new year rolled in a few weeks from then, Oliver knew there would be many more things to deal with. The team was broken, and not likely to repair any time soon. He was still under indictment, and would have to face a trial eventually. And none of that compared to when they’d have to deal with Cayden James, and whatever he had planned. But those were things he’d save for later.

Felicity was lying with her head on his lap, a content smile on her lips. William had went to bed over an hour ago, and Donna had left with Quentin about the same time.

“Thank you,” she whispered, threading her fingers through his, holding their hands to her heart.
