If I see anyone with a weapon, on my property. Well, I reserve the right to defend myself and my family. Do I make myself clear gentleman?” He asked them, hoping these humans were at least smart enough to understand a warning when they heard one.

The men nodded to Jeff and stood there awkwardly, wondering to themselves why the other wasn't letting them in. "Hello, sorry for disturbing you at this hour." The one said, he had a thin built and was dressed in dark clothing save for an orange vest. The other wore similar clothing but was fatter and balding. "We're with the Wildlife and Game office. During a survey of the farm a few miles away last week we heard a howl. Now usually we don't take action on something so simple but another ranger said he saw what looked like wolves on your property so by state law we had to come." The other one nodded and handed Jeff a paper, big bold words on the top read 'What to do incase of a wolf attack'. "A little under an hour ago we did find a wolf on your property and since they are mostly extinct in this area, by law we are required to catch it and transport it a wildlife reserve a few hours away. Since this is a safety hazard for you and your...children?" He questioned, seeing the toys from the crack in the door. "We want you to be aware of our presence in trying to capture the animal and any others like it."

Jeff had got them back in record time, and even in the safety of the high fence surrounding their home the alpha was still unsatisfied that Nick was safe enough. He ran back to shut and lock the gate with his paws before coming back to Neck and letting a small ‘yip’ out at being pulled down against a now human Nick. He tried to communicate with him, to say they were home but he figured Nick wouldn’t hear it. His paws batted lightly at Nick’s chest so he would let go, in any other situation Jeff had to admit that Nick was adorable like this. Although his alpha side growled at being called a puppy, now he knew how Nick felt when Jeff used to call him that.

But just because they were safe, didn’t mean this was over. He still needed to go back and destroy whoever had done this. But he couldn’t leave Nick in this state. So when Jeff finally managed to pull away from Nick he sprang across the garden into the corner where he turned back into his human form. It was a lot easier and quicker than it had been turning into a wolf but pained and wore him out just the same. Soon enough he was back at Nick’s side, naked and tiredly pulling his pet into his arms. “Pet, I need you to calm down.” He said in a croaky voice as he punched the security code in to get inside their mansion, thankful the pups weren’t in their path and quickly carried the other to their bedroom. “I know that you’re confused but I need you to think really hard…did you see anyone back there?” He asked after laying Nick gently on the bed, rolling him onto his side and check his ass where the dart had hit him.

"What about a rabbit? Tell me." He said in what he’d hoped was a soothing voice but it as most likely laced with anger. Seeing Nick looking so vulnerable and helpless, made Jeff wish he were a vampire again. Then he could run around for miles in the space of a mere few minutes and would most likely find the culprits, but as a wolf he was only endangering himself and it would take much longer. He wouldn’t let this go though.

Nick vaguely remembered Jeff picking him up and carrying him. The skys colors kept morphing and changing shape. It was so distracting that Nick didn't even realize they were inside until he noticed the sky had changed to their ceiling color. "Where master..." He tried asking but his tongue started feeling weird and his focus went to that. The wolf was jarred from his mini quest of figuring out why the tip of his tongue tasted like metal when Jeff laid him on the bed. "Feels like..clouds." He giggled and tried grabbing for Jeff again. 

Nick ignored Jeff's first question as he honestly didn't remember anything. He couldn't even remember a scent. All he knew was going after that rabbit. "Found rabbit. Big and juicy." He smiled at Jeff, still feeling proud about his catch even if it was set up. "Caught for you and then..wasn't real. Pain in butt and really loud...sound." He knitted his eyebrows as he tried forming a full sentence. It was so much harder with his head in a haze like this. 

A knock came to the door and it made Nick jerk up. "Rabbit." He stared at the bedroom door, focusing his impaired hearing to the front door. "Smell rabbit.."

The two men stood in front of the door, waiting patiently with papers and a clipboard in their hands.

Jeff felt his mouth open enough so that his teeth were bare and it almost looked like a smile. Since they had met back in New York under the lights of Broadway, Jeff always felt like there was something holding his lover back. Like he never really got to see the real Nick, and now he realised it was because that was the truth. The real Nick was right here in front of him, in his wolf form and Jeff and his thankfully wolf loved all of him. It only reassured him that Nick biting and accidentally changing him although painful was the best thing to happen to them. Now Jeff could figure out what his pet really needed, hopefully soon without the other even needing to ask and would be able to fulfil all his needs like he’d promised.

He had been worried though, that something may go wrong, like the fact he used to be a vampire would mess up his transformation and he’d end up as some freak of nature, disfigured wolf. Then Nick would reject him and- Jeff shook those thoughts from his head and raised his paw to rub over his nose as though chastising himself. Nick belonged to him, he was his pet, his slave and soon to be mate. The teen had saved him from an undead life of boredom and loneliness and now had given him life back…well against Jeff’s will but he would give Nick a punishment he was sure to absolutely love.

The new wolf wasn’t quite sure how long it took for an unranked wolf to hunt by themselves and even though he could still smell his pet nearby, the blonde began to worry. When Nick finally came through to the clearing, Jeff stood up on his paws and wagged his tail happily in greeting. However it died down as soon as he noticed Nick, limping? Within moments Jeff was leaping across the clearing to meet him, heart racing a million miles a minute and anger flooding through his veins when he saw the dart that was causing his lover to be like this. Without thinking he pulled the dart out with his teeth and threw it to the ground before nuzzling and licking at Nick’s face. Pet? Are you okay? What happened? Who did this? He’d specifically chosen a no hunting location for this reason, so that no humans would be worried of wolves in the area. So why had this happened?

The alpha felt too many emotions inside of him to process, fear for his lovers well-being, confusion as to what any humans would be doing in this area and uncontrollable anger at whoever had done this. Jeff felt his wolf take over, beginning to growl madly at nothing as he circled around Nick protectively and trying to see or hear if anyone was near by. He wanted to maul and destroy whoever had done this, but that would mean leaving the paralysed wolf alone. And no way was he doing that again. So the alpha began to gingerly push his head beneath Nick’s furry stomach and ungracefully slid the other’s body underneath him until Nick was laying across his back. At the sound of some branches breaking, Jeff began to break into a light run back to the house, being careful so that Nick wouldn’t slide off of him. I’m taking you to the house, then I’m going to murder them. The wolf thought darkly. Just hang in there.

Nick couldn't feel anything, his whole body was numb from head to toe. And before Jeff even got him on his back he was out. Eyes closed and mind shut down. Weird dreams flooded his brain. Swirls of colors seemed to pass right in front of him. It was almost like Nick could reach out and touch them. He wanted to show Jeff this world...it was amazing. They could bring the pups here and just run around, being happy and in love. 

The hunters chased after the pair, firing a few shots in a last ditch effort before giving up. The one grumbled and cursed at the ground while the other pulled out a cellphone. "They got away. Don't worry I'll call it in. Yeah. Two of them." The men looked down the path Jeff and Nick had taken but decided to go the other way in exchange of getting reinforcements. 

Nick was jarred awake when they got back to the yard and rolled off Jeff's back. He looked around confused and unsettled, not sure what had happened or where he was. "Jeff? Master...? Where am I?" He tried standing up but his legs gave out on him so he just rolled on his back and shifted back to his human form, not caring about his naked state. "There's my puppy." Nick reached forward and grabbed Jeff's face, pulling the wolf down and hugging him around the neck. "So handsome. Know that?" His words slurred together as he tried leaning forward and kissed Jeff's wet nose. "I-rabbit but..pain and wow." His mouth grew dry as did his words.

The alpha wolf felt a happy feeling running through his four legged body at the sight of Nick looking so carefree and happy. It only confirmed what Jeff had hoped which was that even after everything they had been through together, perhaps Nick could finally move on from New York. He could leave the brutish behaviour of his old pack behind him as well as the other painful memories that the city that never sleeps brought him. Jeff stood back and watched Nick for a little while, thinking he must be acting more like a pup than a grown wolf with all his antics. But the white blonde lycan couldn’t deny how much fun it looked to run around like that and just….play. Not to mention Nick looked gorgeous and exuded something so sweet and puppy like about him as he played.

Jeff felt a low growl in his throat when Nick snapped at him and before he even knew what he was doing, he found himself snapping back and leaping towards the other. They fought playfully, Jeff even going as far as to nip at Nick’s neck every now and then as though to remind him who could really win in a fight. Although even though his inner wolf was in control, Jeff knew he would never, ever deliberately hurt the other. Eventually Jeff could feel in need of a break and nudged his nose against Nick’s neck, but being careful not to lick this time, and lay down on the sweet smell of the dew grass. I thought it was the alphas job to do the hunting?  He asked the other, content to watch the other wolf run around whilst Jeff took in all the different smells and felt his tail wag again at the thought of hunting and presenting a kill to Nick…. My legs hurt. He wondered if it was normal seeing as it was his first time. But he saw how much Nick wanted to run and hunt. You can go if you want, but not too far. I have to be able to smell you. He rested his head on his paws and secretly hoped Nick would stay and curl up with him, but he understood it had been a long time since Nick had run.

It felt like it had been ages since Nick actually allowed himself to relax and play with another wolf. Sure he kidded around with the pups a lot but he could never be this rough with them in fear of hurting them. But with Jeff he knew nothing could hurt the wolf, nothing he could do at least. The nips reminded him to calm down a little whenever he would get too rough but besides that it was just a fun game. When it finally ended Nick jumped to his feet and started darting across the field, having so much energy built up from the play time. 

"The pack goes hunting, not just the alpha." Nick trotted over to Jeff and leaned down to lick his nose. "The alpha does lead the hunt..but once you mate me then I'll be the same social standing as you pack wise." He could feel his wolf warming up to the other and it made his heart beat with pride. Nick had chosen someone that even his animistic part loved. This was going to work after all. "You stay here then. I'll go fetch you a snack while you rest." Nick licked Jeff's nose again before sprinting the other way, one thing on his mind. He had to present Jeff a meal..it was basic pack dynamics. And it was the only thing he could do to show how happy he was that Jeff came out here. 

Not far from the site Nick caught scent of a rabbit. It would be easy enough to catch and maybe if Jeff didnt eat it all, the pups could enjoy a leg or two. He crotched down and stalked as close to the rabbit as he could, waiting for just the right moment to spring. The wind changed slightly and he was off, running full force to the little animal. He pounced and sunk his teeth deep into it's throat, expecting to feel the warmth of hot blood seep down his mouth...but that's not what he found. There was nothing...the rabbit didn't even move. He spit the thing out and stared down at what he thought was a real rabbit. It looked like a real rabbit...and smelled like a real rabbit but it was soft and plush.  

Nick felt the pain gab into his butt before he heard the loud shot ring through the air. He bolted away from the spot,following his nose back to Jeff. By the time he made it back to the clearing his hind legs had gone numb and his vision started to blur. He tried saying something but the tranquilizer had already taken it's effect and made his words turn into mumbled mesh. Nick managed to get to Jeff before collapsing next to him, the tranquilizer dart still stuck in his fur.
