been listening to assorted imagine dragons for the past two hours straight and i can confirm they are still a good band. theyve been making me feel like a feral animal since elementary school and i hope they will continue to do so for the next generation of fucked up kids

“I think that with every record, it’s always just a reflection of life for me - throughout whatever that time period was,” said Reynolds during a phone conversation earlier this week. “There’s days that I’m feeling maybe nostalgic or sad or happy or jubilant or angry. I think the songs reflect that. And then we always try to put it together in a way that kind of summarizes the body of work,” he explained. “I think this record really is about a relationship: the end of it, the beginning, the middle,” Reynolds continued. “That’s kind of why we went with the title Loom: if something is looming, it’s not necessarily bad. It could be good, it could be bad. And there’s the idea of kind of the [album] cover being a sunset or a sunrise - and not knowing if it’s the end of something or the beginning of something.”

I’ve been trying to write this message for some time but kept finding myself putting it off. I’ve been taking time away from everything to find my sense of self. Thank you for allowing me to have that space and for all the kind messages and letters sent our way. I hope you know how much it means to me.

Today our new record LOOM is out. We have been working on it quietly for the last couple years. I found myself lost in a wave of emotions and didn’t know how to express them. But as always, music provided a space for that. And the studio gave me a place of refuge and a non judgmental ear. With my best friends by my side we worked on this record. I felt free to say everything I needed to say. I hope that it brings you the same sort of solace it brought me.

Whatever you may need. I hope that it makes you feel. Anything. Something. Anger. Happiness. Gratitude. Heartbreak. Joy. Peace. Nostalgia. Whatever it is that you need from this record, I hope you find it. I hope today is better than yesterday for you. I hope we all can continue to grow and learn together. We have been on this strange journey for almost 15 years now. Isn’t it strange? Time really is flying by us. Before I know it, it may be all over.

And so today I say thank you. Thank you for my health. Thank you for my children. Thank you for my band. Thank you for my friends and family. Thank you for listening to Imagine Dragons for all these years. Standing by us. Singing with us. Dancing with us. Giving us a place to be heard. I love all of you and can’t wait to see you as we embark on this world tour over the next years. May the things that Loom be more good than bad. Regardless, it will be.
