as a black person, I really feel like cortis is one of the only kpop groups that actually gets it right. they take heavy inspiration from black people and black culture, but they work with black people all the time and they're constantly uplifting smaller artists of colour, and it's sad that a small artist reacts to praise like this. seriously, this guy has 4k subscribers on YouTube and someone with millions of fans just recommended his music to his fanbase - and instead of a "thank you" or even just ignoring it, you have to be an asshole about it??? and racist on top of that? grown people doing this mind you!!
you could say they're "reheating our nachos", but instead of making the same thing without giving credit, they're taking inspiration and making bulgogi lol. which so many white people do btw, in much worse ways in fact, but nobody cares about that...
I don't think they're harming the black community. they've worked with black artists and dancers and producers and lyricists, and I've only heard praise and approval from those artists. they're uplifting the black community. unlike groups like alldayproject...
and as a black person, the coer fandom makes me feel so safe. I've seriously never seen so much diversity in a fandom. they truly bring a lot of black people joy, just look at the reactions on YouTube and how we've literally coined the term "nephew" for Martin.
anyway, I'm sorry for any spelling mistakes I'm highkey sleep deprived
it genuinely makes me so happy that you feel safe in the coer community
i think anyone, no matter their race, ethnicity, gender, age ( without being weird ), etc should be accepted into the coer community
and yes i have seen black creators react to cortis and absolutely LOVE martin its his aura i swear
we donāt talk about alldayproject. they justā¦no.
but on the topic of martinās shoutouts :
an example of how to react when a group that has MILLIONS of fans shouts you out is slayr, genuinely so chill about it
because guess what, they like your music, they are literally giving you free promo
but instead we have two randoms who think their music is bomb, say that cortis are flops, like babe the call is coming from inside the house
and if they just said ālol thxā or even just ignore the attention, i can bet some coers would listen to the music ( even if itās bad⦠) BECAUSE cortis is connected to it some way
but enough of my rambles, MY POINT IS ā im glad that cortis has brought an inclusive community where you and other black fans can feel comfortable and safe
we genuinely need more love and safe spaces, okay bye bye luv you lots
