Rainy Nights and the Taste of Wine
They sat in the dark room, just inches apart from each other. The only sound came from the rain pelting against the window mixed with the sounds of the city outside. Inside was a whole different world, a universe even, and there was nothing in their universe except for each other. She leaned in for a delicate kiss and was drawn in and pulled by the feel of his soft lips and the strong taste of wine. She hated wine but paired with the taste of him made it nothing short of iresistable. She sat there with her eyes closed, savoring what was possibly the biggest risk she’d ever taken in life. The calm atmosphere made her feel confident and when she felt his hand gently lay on her waist, she opened her eyes to meet his. The contrast of light and dark in the room highlighted his features, hypnotizing her. His eyes that were just as dark as hers held a slight glimmer. They traced over her face and read every bump, every wrinkle, every freckle. They were full of wonder and what even seemed a bit like awe. His other hand found its way to her neck, just below her hairline, his thumb brushing against her jaw as his eyes found their way to her lips. Glancing back to her, he went in for a second kiss, a third kiss, a fourth kiss until they were breatheless and content. As they lay side by side, she stared at her ceiling and slipped into a peace which she only ever felt in her dreams.
