Apparently that ice is extremely thick even if it cracks it won’t separate, and if it did separate it would be difficult to find yourself falling into the water, so it’s more scary than it is dangerous.
It’s also a big tourist attraction, so it’s not like this person is just doing something reckless they’re just sharing what the experience is like.
Also to note, the cracking has nothing to do with how thin the ice is, that is not a sound thin ice makes when it’s cracking.
