Mutopers [muto - Latin for shifting, pers - short for person. Plural; mutopeople] is the shifting of a person between states that resemble people, seperate from having alters/headmates/parts. Instead, a mutopers will have "sones."
A sone is a type of persona created by the subconscious of a mutopers. This is a form of identity disturbance, and usually comes comorbid with disorders that cause identity disturbance (eg, autism, BPD ect). Switching, or "shifting" between sones is involuntary, though may be caused by outside factors such as people around the mutopers (or may be random) [Sone is a play on the word sona, e being a gender neutral ending in languages such as Spanish, implying this is a neutral (involuntary) version of one. Pronounced so - neh.]
Sones can have completely different personalities, genders, opinions and attractions, however they are NOT different people OR different states/parts of a person, though they may feel like or see themselves as seperate people. All the traits of sones are modifiers to the original person. This also works for systems, a system or plural can be mutopers, with then sone they're switched into effecting how whoever's fronting acts, which may lead the plural to believe they have more alters/parts/headmates than they actually have.
What is the difference between a mutopers and a system?
[Pt: what is the difference between a mutopers and a system]
As said above, sones are not different people, or different parts of the same person, they are modifiers to a person. Sones also can't communicate or interact with eachother, since they aren't different people, and will have no amnesia, disturbance or confusion when shifting
What is the difference between a mutopers and a polymind?
A polymind is a person who sees their subpersonalities as unique individuals. While sones can resemble unique individuals, having different prefered names, appearances and pronouns, they are not unique individuals, nor are they "subpersonalities". Subpersonalities are aspects of a personality that surface to navigate specific situations, while sones are different personalities, or personality modifiers that change a person to navigate specific situations.
> Is mutopers a form of plurality? - that is a personal question, and it is up to each specific mutopers to decide if they see their mutopersonhood as a form of plurality, a form of masking, or anything else
> is being mutopers voluntary or involuntary? - mutopers as a concept, and shifting between sones is involuntary, however sones can be created voluntarily as personas or masks by anyone, mutopers already or not, becoming so second nature that shifting into them BECOMES involuntary
> what stance does the term have on ______? - mutopers is a term for beings to better describe themselves. If anyone, of any stance relates to this term, they can use it. I care more about it being there for the people who need it than internet discourse, or what I think is right or wrong.
> am I mutopers if..../can a sone be.../any similar question. - if you relate to the description I put here, and it isn't better described by any other term, congrats, youre mutopers. I coined this for my experience alone as a system with additional shifting, but I'm not setting hard limits about what it can and can't be. See mutopersonhood as a blank slate right now, coin whatever terms you like under it, be whatever you are under it
