Greetings and welcome to our blog!

We are called Xu and are a heavily numbered system. You can use he/him and she/her pronouns for us.

We are quite (mentally, physically and cognitively) disabled, a full-time (mostly) symbol-based AAC and have moderate M E (do not use CFS for us).

We are multiracial, multifaith (including christian) and pass as white.

We refuse to have a DNI, but we can block people. Also, you can disagree with our takes !!! having opinions is beautiful!

Now, a few notes:

- we almost exclusively use our talker to compose our posts

- most of our system needs image descriptions, even if they are short or generalised

- we are 18 and might post nsft

New year's resolution! Get that tacky DNI out of your bio, and instead:

* learn to block freely

* engage with others critically

* stop using community labels as a shorthand for whether or not someone is a good/bad person

* engage in good-faith conversation when possible

* think "is [X discourse] even relevant to this post?" -> usually not!

* use "do not tag as X" when necessary

* learn how to explain your position and reasoning without using "pro-" vs "anti-" language

* use filtered tags

* block discourse and things that drain you

* block people who post untagged discourse

* don't feel like you have to justify blocking someone (it's YOUR phone!)

Remember: a true boundary is something YOU enforce, to remove yourself from situations to protect your well-being.

If it requires compliance from others, it is not a good or effective boundary!

I genuinely think most people don't actually know that paraphilias are a disability that most paraphiles don't want to have.

I hate how aesthetic-centered it has become the emoji / emote / symbol community here on Tumblr. Everyone seems to be striking for more aesthetically pleasing looking symbols, or having their own style or whatever. I'm not saying this is entirely bad, but this is a community centered around accessibility & giving the people what they need, not making your posts cute with dividers or fonts or making your emojis incredibly low contrast, or more!!!!

you can do these things, I don't care, but it isn't the main focus of the symbol making community & makes your posts hard to read

SORRY FOR THE MILLION REBLOGS but yes! (legally) Blind person here! i can't see most post half the time when their post is

overly low contrast

too dark/too bright (additionally - too bright includes eyestrain!! especially for DISABLED SYMBOLS that are supposed to HELP!)

too small of an image to even see

those symbols are EVERYWHERE and i use them regardless but i've started to just use the default or no-symbol based (and use my auditory touch instead) because of how BAD it is sometimes. i can occasionally find good ones but MAN man it makes me feel so excluded. i don't like using auditory touch because it is less privacy, yet i can't use pretty much all of the symbols i find on here. and i have rarely a time where i have a word i can use on the default symbol base.

I'm so glad this isn't just Me

I know some people make emojis specifically for Discord (or other messaging apps) and without AAC in mind and that's perfectly fine

HOWEVER, if you do do that then don't crosstag into AAC symbol tags!!!

I wrote something about this a week or two ago, but I think people forget many Discord emojis aren't compatible / accessible with AAC symbol use

Sometimes they are! And that's great! But a lot of times they just aren't and so crosstagging can cause issues

But that's a little off topic I suppose, on your original topic I agree heavily. Adding fancy images and fonts causes lots of accessibility issues and can make many AAC users feel unwelcome!

Life update! :

I got to (finally) graduate on stage! I did have to travel outside of my area, so I am having extreme full body pain and fatigue. However, I am extremely happy and satisfied with the entire thing.
