TLDR: leaving Tumblr, moved to WAFRN + Bluesky
Hello! This is a bit of a long one, typing it up in LibreOffice.
First, hello followers! Thank you for being so kind to us in the ~5 months we have been running this blog. And everyone else for the past 3 years we have been on the site. It pains us to move platforms, because we may not see most of you again. But let me (RonLeo, hi) explain why it is necessary.
This platform does not care about its userbase. This has been apparent as long as we have been using Tumblr, but we have mostly tolerated it.
But for about a year now, blogs (🏳️⚧️ peoples’ blogs, specifically women but sometimes others) we follow have just been going missing. A lot of the time, I will have no clue what happened to them, or notice they are gone until someone says something. Additionally, I have seen people b4nned after speaking about this. They finally b4nned my very favorite artist on the platform. So it is time to go.
But where? Here is the part where I infodump about WAFRN ^^
WAFRN (short for “We Accept Female-Representing Nipples”) is a social site that seems to be specifically made for Tumblr refugees. It is a federated thing, which made me balk a little (because I don’t understand all that), but you can literally just join the main instance and it’s fine. You can see TONS of other instances (everyone from transfem.social seems very nice) across the Fediverse, as well as users and posts from Bluesky!
• long tumblr-style tags with spaces in them
• filters (keywords and tags with hard-block [hide entirely] or soft block [give a warning])
• interact with WAFRN, other Fediverse instances, and Bluesky
• 18+ (and you can post such things!)
• custom warnings for your posts
• explicitly trans-accepting
• very nice and helpful dev
+ Anecdotal: I never see discourse. Not queer, system, alterhuman, none of it. I haven’t had to block discourse tags. Maybe because of the older userbase? Sometimes I see people complain about discourse that is on other sites, but that’s it. Also there is an active plural community, and people are just like? Normal about it? So wonderful to see.
One thing I don’t really like: there aren’t very large fandom spaces here. But YOU are the fandom! You have to make what you want to see 🙂
Looking back to our followers. We are here now.
If we don’t meet again on another platform:
Goodbye, and thank you all!! 💗🪽
