“I have a big surprise.” (from Anna)
Excitedly, Elsa jumped up at her sister's voice. No one could make her her day brighter and better like her sister could. All it took was a sound of her voice and whatever was on her mind or bothering her would melt away into the background.
"Oh, what is it?" Elsa asked as she flicked her braid off her shoulder, hurriedly shuffled her documents back into a desk drawer for later review, and hurried to Anna's side.
Elsa frowned for a moment. "Oh, wait..." It wouldn't be a surprise if she told her. "Can I have a hint at least?"

“I’m from Montressor, on the coast of England,” she answered. “I’m a maid at the Benbow Inn there. I came here to Arendelle to attend the queen’s birthday ball and maybe tour the castle, since I read the gates are now open. Actually I was sent on a diplomatic mission by the Royal Light Navy as a ship’s cabin girl. Though, I’m completely lost here,” she said, glancing around. She patted the birthday gift for the queen of Arendelle stowed inside her sidebag, though not knowing who she was talking with. “Yes, lovely weather here,” she said, always a fan of discussing the weather, and looking up at the night sky. “I would love to see some snow while I’m here, but it looks like it hasn’t started yet.”
“The name’s Sarah Hawkins,” she said, proffering a hand to the other. “And what do you call yourself? And maybe you could direct me which way to the castle?”
“You are a long way from home,” Elsa told the woman but she was glad that people had come from so far away and were willing to do so. “I am sure you will see snow sooner than you think,” she pointed out. Her magic was drawn to any kind of snow and while most could not tell, Elsa could feel the winds shifting and heralding the coming of a snowfall. “It probably will not be much,” she shrugged though because there were times a winter storm (that was not her magic gone wild) would blow over Arendelle. “However, you might get lucky enough to witness the aurora on clear nights such as this.” It was certainly one of her favorite parts about the often dark and long winter days that fell upon Arendelle in December.
Elsa knew she should be polite and introduce herself and she would, but for now she liked just being some random lady from Arendelle. Most people shied away from speaking with her when they knew of her true identity. “I am heading in that direction if you would like to accompany me.” It was about time she headed back anyhow before anyone worried or grew suspicious over her absence. “Your ship has docked a little early, has it not?” Elsa inquired expecting the first of her guests to arrive in the morning. “I hope that means the journey was pleasant. England is such a long way away.” Or at least that was what her maps showed her as she had never been personally.
"Trolls are wonderful,” Elsa told the person next to her as the familiar troll clan wandered in front of them. They did not always come to Arendelle, even now they found themselves just outside the city, but they did sometimes. Usually when things were going awry, would go awry, or something important was about to happen.
She was quiet a moment as she pondered a few things. “Do you think it is a good sign or a bad?” It was more a random thought but Elsa was curious. “I am sorry,” she said suddenly recalling she was talking to someone. “I don’t believe we have been introduced, you are?”

“Hello,” Sarah said in practiced Arendellian. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you.” She waved a hand. “I only just disembarked from a ship in the middle of the night and walked up from the harbor. I just arrived for the celebration of the queen’s birthday!” she said giddily.
She glanced around at the green and purple decorations put up on the streetlights. “I can’t imagine what it’s like to be her,” she went on, not aware who exactly she was talking to. “Having some fun, I should hope,” she jested.
Elsa gave the woman a warm, but awkward smile. “It is a lovely time of year,” she told her diplomatically. “Though, Arendelle is just wonderful in general this time of year.” Elsa found she had always loved the early winter season and the fact the Christmas holiday that followed her birthday so closely was a great distraction away from attention she had never wanted; even dreaded as a child and perhaps, even a little bit as an adult.
“Hm,” she started as she thought about it a moment. Thought about what her life might look like to someone one the outside. “I imagine it is quite chaotic.” Elsa offered up. Her life was very chaotic, but it was also fun. She certainly never wanted to go back to how it was before. “If you’re not from Arendelle where are you from?”
“He’s a man of his own invention.” “I want something that I want.” “When will my life begin?” “Don’t you see that what you need is standing right in front of you?” “This is the story of how I died.” “She’s kind of important.” “For that one moment, everything was perfect. And then that moment ended.” ”Why can’t I go outside?” “The outside world is a dangerous place. Filled with horrible, selfish people.” “You must stay here, where you’re safe.” “How about twenty three, out of forty five?” “Yeah, I don’t think so.” “I could get used to a view like this.” “Can’t you picture me in a castle of my own?” “I’m going to ask her.” “Oh, darling. I’m just teasing.” “You know what I see? I see a strong, confident, beautiful young lady. Oh look, you’re here too.” “I’m just teasing, stop taking everything so seriously.” ”Would you sing for me, dear?” “Look at you, as fragile as a flower.” “Mother knows best.” “It’s a scary world out there.” ”On your own, you won’t survive.” “Well it’s easy for you to say.” “Sorry, my hands are full.” “I got a person in the closet.” “I have a big surprise.” “I know you’re not strong enough to handle yourself out there.” ”Oh, great. Now I’m the bad guy.” “You sure you’ll be all right, on your own?” ”I’m not afraid of you.” “How’s it going, huh?” “I think he’s telling the truth.” “You will act as my guide.” “I have made the decision to trust you.” “A horrible decision, really.”
This is for my followers before I open it up to the rest of the world (though anyone is welcome to like this) for a starter. Life has been crazy, but I realize I miss Elsa terribly. I want to write her again.

"Is someone there,” Elsa asked feeling a familiar tingle in her hands as her power itched to be released. Nightfall around Arendelle should not give her pause, or anyone pause to be honest, but there was something about the night that unsettled her. Then again, as the newly appointed Queen, Elsa herself should be at home safe in her own bed readying for another day.
It had been six months since her coronation and there was still so much to do, so much to get ready for upcoming meetings and plans. Her birthday was only days away but Elsa did not want to think about that either. Instead it was easier to focus on the noise that had caught her attention on a mostly empty Arendelle street.
“Hello? Is someone there?”

She now knew the love that was between a mother and child, her own mother being a faded memory.

“A long time before you were even thought of, Snowflake, before I even met your father.” Iduna had been so young when her mother and father had died, Iduna had been raised by her mother’s sister and the community at large.
“This shawl is all I have to remember my mother,” Iduna said showing Elsa the much cherished shawl.
Gently, Elsa reached out to touch the scarf carefully. She knew better than to be rough with something her mother clearly loved so dearly.
“You’re not going anywhere, right?” Elsa asked frowning as she curled up against her mother’s side trying to imagine a life where she didn’t have her mother. The thought clearly made her mother sad thinking of this time before she was even thought of.

“Yes, a very long time ago.” Iduna said, she didn’t like keeping her past a secret from the girls. But no one could know what she was, not even Agnarr.
Iduna could however share a little bit of her culture with her children, and that would have to be enough.
“How long is a long time?” Elsa asked. The adults always said a long time ago, but what did that mean? It seemed like ages ago that Anna was born. Not that Elsa was complaining because she liked having a sister around.
Elsa yawned but she still looked at her mother expectedly.

Normally, Iduna would not have given in, knowing that Elsa was just trying to delay bedtime.
But the request was so sweet.
“Alright, one more song,” Iduna said sitting down on Elsa’s bed.
“Do you want our usual lullaby?”
Elsa nodded as she sat up eager to hear the familiar lullaby fall from her mother’s lips. A song she knew by heart but could never sing with such, purpose. Her father would probably say it was too scary for a little girl, but it wasn’t. There was comfort to have in it; perhaps that was because it was her mother singing it.
“Mama,” Elsa started once her mother was done with the tune. “Did your mama sing you that song too?”
