I made some new friends quite randomly at a bar by making a DS9 polycule joke the other night. 😂

I was by myself watching a World Cup game and heard Star Trek come up in a conversation a few seats over behind me. At first I didn't want to be a creeper and just jump into their convo but after it went on for a few more minutes about the various relationships on DS9 I couldn't help myself and blurted out "Wouldn't it be a better question of who on DS9 *ISN'T* some sort of polycule?!"

Both of them replied "YEEEES YOU GET IT!!" They were super nice and we proceeded to have a very fun conversation. As a bonus I found out about this creative place very close to where I work that does some cool art pop ups and stuff that I'm definitely going to check out in the near future.

This blog is 15 years old?! If I think about it for more than 2 seconds, yeah that shouldn't shock me. I joined Tumblr in college and it's been a while since I graduated. It's still just kinda weird to think about. I wasn't actively posting for at least a couple of those years, but I guess it is making me feel kinda old. Hahaha

I wish I didn't feel obligated to have to use glaze/nightshade type ai protection every time I want to post my art here. But alas...

It's just the principle of matter, it doesn't matter even if there are workarounds, it's at least a way of being able to push back a bit. Make those damn image scrapers have to work at least a little harder.

Got to do something cool last Saturday. 😏

Conventions are fun, but dang it they can be overwhelming at times for me. It was worth it though, I got to meet Kate and have her sign my linocut Threshold print! I do wish I could have gotten the print signed before the photo op with her, but I wasn't able to make that work. During the photo op she asked if I had made it and said it was beautiful! They move everyone through so quickly to keep things moving, I'm not sure she even had the time to recognize it was Threshold art. She did get to look at it closer when she signed it and joked about Threshold.

As I was leaving her table I did say "Not to be weird about it, but you are really fun to draw!" She thought that was funny and said something to the effect of how her mother (who was an artist) had told Kate that it was hard to catch her likeness at times. There was some background noise at this point so I'm not sure I quite got exactly what she said.

I did realize after I had left that it would have made a lot more sense to tell her that if I had either had her sign or shown her one of her portraits I've drawn. But oh well, maybe she just thought I was even more of a threshold freak than I looked. Hahaha
