Explaining my Stardew Valley spouse candidate tier list bc I don't know anyone who likes SDV in person
Emily, F Tier - Manic pixie dream girl in a bad way. She frightens me.
Penny, D Tier - I wish Penny would become more confident and explore her interest in education after marrying her. Maybe she could take classes to become the teacher of Pelican Town instead of taking up the housewife role.
Harvey, D Tier - His story line is very uninteresting imo, he doesn't really grow as a person. I wish there was a heart event where he could become more comfortable with standing his ground.
Sebastian, C Tier - I know this is controversial, but I don't like Seb that much. He seems very distant, even after being married to him. I also wish his disdain for Maru was resolved at some point, and he could maybe even help Maru distance herself from Demetrius's helicopter parenting.
Maru, C Tier - WE LOVE A WOMAN IN STEM!!! I wish she was a bit more socially awkward bc I feel her personality is lacking, especially when her character growth could be really fun seeing her finally fly from the nest from Demetrius. Also, I wish she could make up with Seb, they clearly love eachother, and I'd really like a story line where maybe they start hanging out again slowly over a year after Maru gets the freedom she deserves with Farmer.
Leah, C Tier - English is not my native language so I had a very hard time trying to read her name. Also, I find her a bit boring. I love her storyline of becoming a professional artist, I just wish there was a bit more complexity to her.
Elliot, C Tier - I love his personality, I just wish there was more for him to overcome. It feels like once he finishes his book (which can very easily happen before you marry him) he should struggle coming up with a new novel instead of just going on book tours.
Shane, B Tier - The fact that a lot of his progress is lost right after getting married pisses me off so much oml. That's all.
Haley, B Tier - I love her, but the fact that she starts out like, actually mean in the beginning makes me sad, I'm not a fan of bully and victem to lovers so yeah. Alex is mean in a kind of teasing way, but she just literally calls you ugly.

Abigail, A Tier - Love her, she has a very good personality and I feel like her way of escaping Pierre and Caroline's parenting is what Maru could have been. The only reason she isn't in S Tier is because I feel bad after marrying her because she wants to leave and explore the world, but now she is stuck in Pelican town.
Sam, A Tier - My son. Literally my baby. I LOOVE that he becomes more responsible over time during marriage and he wants to help Farmer out. Just a sweet little babby.
Alex, S Tier - HOOOLLLY CRAAPPP!!! LOVE OF MY LIFE, CLOSETED KING, BEST BOY HIMBO, BICON!! Alex is one of the most underrated marriage candidates. He has THE best written story, whether you're the male or female farmer. As the male farmer, his story with you can be interpreted as a closeted bi or gay man discovering his sexuality, and as the female farmer, his story with you can be interpreted as a young man becoming secure in himself after losing his mother and dealing with the abuse of his father. He has the best story line and character development.
