obsessed with how ki joon knows--he *KNOWS* he's absolutely certain of it--he's an exception for in ah. anything she would normally say no to without batting an eyelash she will pause and consider for him.

also, i love shin hae sun's choices here, with how flustered in ah is and how she can't really look ki joon in the eye when she's like "marriage isn't for me."

and oh! you know what else i love about this exchange? how in ah kind of realizes (again) she has the power/ability to hurt ki joon. he's so upset here!! and she's so bewildered by it!!! like, she's honestly surprised that ki joon is upset she bought a single person home and believes marriage is out of the question for her. (i'll also say i so appreciate that after this he explains to his family how important in ah's job is to her, cause it means that he keeps at bay all the normative expectations usually placed on women--marriage, pregnancy, quit your job, motherhood, etc.--and so his being so insistent on the possibility of marriage is not about trapping in ah, but about finding a way to be with her for a long, long time; it's another way of choosing her.)

Having finished Filing for Love I'm just quietly thinking back to the art class when they knock over his picture of her, and it gets splattered with watercolors.

And how right there in episode 4 (?) they were laying down the groundwork for how cold and austere In-an's life was, and how being with Ki-jun could open her up to a whole world of color and warmth.

A lucky variable indeed.
