Jason Bourne wakes up with a bullet hole in his back and no idea who he is or how he ended up on a fisherman’s boat - especially because he has assassin-level knowledge that he has no memory of.

Marie Kreutz is a transient who happens to pick Jason up in her car and is shocked when her offers her $20,000 to drive him to Paris.

Jason and Marie work together to figure out who he is and what he needs to do next, but their sleuthing is inhibited when wanted posters appear for both of them. Their race against time and struggle to survive the assassins who come after them are more than enough to cause them to bond, but the real feelings that develop between them hardly have time to blossom before they are separated again. However, they vow to do what they must in order to set things straight and see each other again, no matter how long they have to wait.
