🖤🖤🖤?
🖤 Repeat, become.
Easy as that. You are the sum of all your habits and the actions you take every single day. By the habits you show up for. There's no doubt that our thoughts shape our actions and vice versa but I find the opposite to be of even greater importance. What you do consistently is who you become. The idea of self concept is nice and I understand why it's so appealing but I don't think mindlessly repeating affirmations, without anything to support them, is as sustainable and effective as we're often told. Instead, what truly changes the way you see yourself is hard evidence and real proof through your actions. This might sting a little, but you are not defined by what you fantasize about, or what you dream about, or what you pray for. You are not your manifestations, your subliminals, or your vision boards. These habits may all help you get in the right headspace and make you feel aligned, they may give clarity and structure to your life, but at the end of the day, they are all just thoughts and they only exist inside your mind. You are not what you think about but what you choose to do, especially when it's inconvenient. It's the way you show up and actually follow through. You don't become x by imagining x, you become x by practicing x.
🖤 Action over analysis.
This kind of ties back to what I said before but I need to be very clear about this. You might have the most detailed and thought-out plan for your life. But if you are not taking real, active steps toward it every single day to achieve your goal, your dreams are not going to suddenly manifest themselves for you, and you won't suddenly wake up living your dream life, that's just not how it works. What does work, however, (100% of the time) is taking action. Even if things go wrong, you will always learn from your mistakes, and with that knowledge, know how to do better next time. You don't have to have it all figured out before taking action. You dive in head-first, you stay engaged and keep it moving. Being grounded in the real world is a non-negotiable. You can’t learn how to swim by reading a book about swimming. You can study the technique all you want, spend hours watching videos and visualizing every stroke but until you actually get in the pool, nothing changes. Reality is the teacher here, and experience is ultimately proof.
🖤 Start now.
You don't have to wait for a new year (most new year resolutions fail anyways), or a new week (don't wait for Monday for a fresh start), or a specific hour to get started. Don't say you will do it tomorrow, if you can do it right now. If there's nothing holding you back from taking action this very second, why delay? It's a vicious cycle with no end in sight and you and I both know that making up excuses will actually hinder you from achieving your goals. Your time is precious and something that you will never get back, there's no point in waiting around for the perfect time when you can just go ahead and take action right now. If you are struggling to take action due to feelings of anxiety, I hear you, it can be genuinely scary if the thought of doing something new or challenging terrifies you. You don't have to leap, I would say that breaking down complex tasks into tiny baby steps may help you get started and once you get started momentum tends to meet you there, and before you know it, you'll be in the flow state. Change doesn't happen overnight and if you don't have a strong foundation, start where you are and higher your expectations just a little every single day so it becomes easier with time.
