Let's Talk About Collars (Part 3) - The Pearl Necklace
With the 1D hiatus, not only did the band's situation change, but that would also have an impact on Harry's relationship with Louis. In some ways they could spend more time together, but they were still well and truly having to hide thanks to existing management and contracts.
Over time, H's solo career took off. As part of this, his style went from 'Jagger-esque sexual womanizer' that he was made out to be, to what is fondly called 'hipster grandpa' (I've got ideas about this that I'll discuss later).
The bandana would be sorely out of place. So what is a good dom (Louis) to do? Why, give the sub a new day collar of course!
Enter THE PEARL NECKLACE!
The PEARL NECKLACE showed up when Fine Line dropped in 2019 and was consistently worn for both formal and informal occasions into 2020, but showed up a bit less in 2021. Why did it show up when it did?
Firstly and most practically, it was linked strongly to the album imagery. So it could be worn in any situation and 'fits' automatically because it became part of his style.
But... if H *were* a sub, he would have been doing LOTS of travel & promo at that time, presumably away from his dom. A Day Collar often offers a sub great comfort by giving them a tangible reminder of their connection and the fact that they are wanted, cared for and 'belong'.
Now, let's consider the pearl necklace a moment. It would be a fabulous choice for H (if he were a sub) AND, pearl necklaces/chokers are a common day collar choice for subs because they are inobtrusive and a 'classic' accessory (thank you Chanel for popularizing them!)
1. Pearl jewelry is often given between couples to commemorate anniversaries and significant events, both public and private.... like perhaps, the release of a major album? Or the start of a HUUUUGE tour?
2. There is another 'meaning' for 'pearl necklace' -- I'll leave you to go look it up on Urban Dictionary (it's okay, we'll hold the tour here for you... hurry back).
A pearl necklace can be slang for a sexual act. This act is quite popular in kink circles or for couples, because marking the skin in such a way is kind of a primal 'claim'. For subs it can be a very powerful symbol, wearing an ACTUAL pearl necklace can be a powerful reminder.
The pearl necklace is seen on H in lots of situations into 2020, less in 2021 (one of the few times I found it was the G-suit fitting where he was asked to remove the bandana).
Why did the pearl necklace stop being seen -- that is hard to say. My hunch is that something else took it's place -- possibly the 'Dicklace' which will be talked about in Part 4.
Letās Talk About Collars (Part 2)- Harryās Blue Bandana
So what about all this talk of DAY Collars? A day collar is something (doesn't have go on the neck, or even be a form of jewelry) that a sub might wear in their daily life that reminds THEM of their relationship, but would not be seen as a 'collar' by the general public.
With H, I've seen three different items that consistently show up, and if he WERE kinky and WERE a sub and WERE in a committed relationship, MIGHT be day collars.Ā Ā

The BLUE BANDANAĀ
This was the first potential day collar that popped up and caused quite a stir when H started to wear it regularly. Thanks to the fan bandana project, it is CLEARLY linked with L, as if H were making his āfavā known too.
It may have been H's idea to wear it, or it could have been L's. Both of them are voracious readers, and would likely have found the idea of collars intriguing given the way they seem to love symbols. And it was a sneaky way to fight back against the growing 'enemies' narrative.
The blue bandana kept showing up in non-formal situations. It was still showing up into 2021, either on his neck or stuffed in his pocket. Often even being employed as a face mask (or to cover a face mask).
The most telling incident suggesting that it has a very strong meaning for him, is a fitting for HSLOT where he is wearing it and someone asks him to remove it. Alles. is rumored to have said, "He won't break up with you if you take it off for a minute."Ā
Why is this key?
For a sub, once a collar is put on, it generally isn't taken it off without permission. IF the bandana WERE a collar, and H WERE a sub, then... it is reasonable that he might have been under instructions not to take it off unless absolutely necessary. But this is all conjecture!
AND... Alessandro and H are good friends, he would likely understand the nature of H's relationship with the bandana and what it means -- so this rumor is very telling.Ā
Additionally, subs can be very attached to their collars, especially if they are away from their anchoring dom for a period of time. Collars can be grounding objects and help with anxiety. Draw from that what you will regarding his reluctance to take it off.
While the bandana would be a fabulous casual day collar, it can hardly show up at red carpet events! When 1D were together, there wouldn't be the need for an outward reminder, as L would have been with him for red carpet events. But with the hiatus, things changedā¦

Let's talk about COLLARS more specifically, certain accessories H uses that 'seem' like a 'Day Collar'.
NOTE: This thread is based on pictorial evidence and conjecture, I am NOT saying that H is kinky or a sub - I am just going by what we SEE (which may not be the truth).

Why do I care?Ā
For my PhD I studied social interaction and behaviourĀ in kink communities across 6 countries. I've been in the rl kink community & a researcher for over 25 yrs.Ā Iāve gotten pretty good at analyzing peopleās actions, behaviour, interactions and the symbols they use. H&L's use of symbol and their interactions (that we have seen) mimics behaviours I've seen over the years in established kink couples.Ā
Does that mean they are kinky? - NO.
But it makes for an interesting analysis - so let's jump in!Ā
COLLARS 101 (aka: Kink Psych Basics)Ā
First: EVERY KINK RELATIONSHIP IS DIFFERENT. There are a million different ways to be kinky. So, how couples use collars and what they use them to mean, also differs.Ā Collars are VERY personal. They *may* be given by a dom partner to signify ownership. BUT if you ask a sub what their collar means to them, you will probably get deep answers about emotional links, the collar being a symbol of love, protection, reassurance, CARE, etc...
Collars come in 2 broad types: Play & Day. Play collars are the collars most non-kinksters think of -often thick leather, or metal, with options for restraint, & generally viewed as very 'fetish-y'. LIKE.... the notorious black leather collar H wore for the Another Man shoot.
This collar (called a āchokerā in alot of the media articles about it - lol!) caused QUITE a buzz online. Including this article.Ā
This photoshoot is what drew me fully into the fandom. I've read two versions of the layout crediting the leather collar differently. The one the fandom loves credits it as 'Models Own" (although this has been debunked); the other gives a maker for it.Ā
Whether it belongs to H or not, he looks VERY comfortable wearing it.
The black leather collar is a an example of what people think of as a 'collar', but within the community that type of collar is usually used as 'play' or 'scene' collar, since most people can't get away with wearing something like that in their daily life (tho Harry prob could).Ā
The next thread will look more specifically at some of the accessories that Harry uses that MAY be interpreted as Day Collars.

I know itās illegal but whenever I get antibiotics from the doctor I save a few and give them to friends or coworkers who donāt have insurance so that when cold season comes they might be able to shorten their illness
That is not good- thatās not quite how antibiotics work.
Antibiotics kill some bacteria, but donāt manage to kill other bacteria. Just like when you get a particular sickness (or a vaccination), your body can protect you from future infections, any bacteria that came into contact with the antibiotic is protected from future doses of that antibiotic. Bacteria are very virulent breeders, so they spawn more resistant bacteria.
If you take the full dose of antibiotics, your natural antibodies can deal with the cells that are resistant while the medicine kills off the bacteria that isnāt resistant. If you donāt take the full course of antibiotics, then your body has to deal with both the resistant and the non-resistant strains of bacteria, and it can become overwhelming. Also, most bacteria are able to pass on genes between still-living cells, so that previously non-resistant strains become resistant, and you have inadvertently cultivated a stronger strain of bacteria.
Furthermore, colds and the flu are viral infections, so antibiotics donāt work against them anyway. The best protection against viral infections are vaccinations, as there are not many viruses that we have developed anti-viral medication against, once you already have the disease. If there are anti-viral medications, it is even more important that you take the full dose of the medication, because anti-viral medication is even harsher against the body than antibacterial medication is.
To put it shortly: antibiotics donāt do shit for the cold. You need to take the entire bottle that is prescribed to you. People not doing that is how antibiotic resistant infections crop up. People like OP are literally why diseases like MRSA exist.
OP shouldnāt feel bad about good intentions but this is really dangerous. Thereās also the risk that your friends are allergic to the specific type of antibiotics you give them.
things that a better-off person can do for their sick less-well-off friends that donāt involve breeding superbacteria through misue of antibiotics:
Buy them cold medicineĀ
Buy them cough drops
Buy them fancy tissues with lotion
Make them too much soup to eat in one go and freeze half for later
Find them a low-cost clinic and accompany them there
Tell them you are giving them their dayās wages and they are staying home Friday/Monday and then do.
Go to their house. Wash the dishes, take out the garbage, walk the dog, scoop the cat or just plain change the whole litter box, clean the bathtub and mom voice them until they take a hot shower or steam their head.
if they have asthma or bronchitis and are out of inhaler but you have a half-full one, that is a thing you can sanitize and share.

I feel like some of this should have been covered in high school health class. It would do a lot to combat misuse of antibiotics. Superbacteria is really dangerous for everyone but is particularly bad for people with multiple antibiotic allergies and will lead to hospital stays for IV antibiotics of kinds they can take.
Agreed. High school health class curricula simply havenāt been set up to take into account a future in which the middle class has dissolved and a huge chunk of Americans canāt afford to go to a doctor if they get a cold. - _ -
Last year, I had caught a bad case of strep throat. I usually get it a couple of times a year because my tonsils suck, but this time it was BAD. I was taking amoxicillin like I had been before, but nothing was happening. I was still sick 2 weeks later. I told my doctor and he gave me a different antibiotic and it cleared up.
I was telling one of my friends about all of it, and he says āOh do you need some amoxicillin? I never finished my bottle when I got strep because it went away after like 3 daysā.
Like a week before I got sick, that same friend and I were out having dinner, and we shared a bit of food. This asshat gave me an amoxicillin-resistant strain of strep throat because he didnāt finish his antibiotics. I couldnāt eat anything solid and could barely drink for 2 weeks because someone thought he was āfeeling better and didnāt need medicineā.
Yeah, i was taught this in year 3. This is just another thing you americans can add to your āwhy our our educational system is crapā list and its really scary how this isnt common knowledge there

Yeah... weāre still debating where in the stadium to hope for tickets. We are taking my 8 year old spawn for her first concert. I want her to see the cool stage set up, but also want her to be close enough to be able to see the guys as more than teeny tiny specks *lol*Ā
@sciencebranchblues and I sat right down on the right side the seats right at the end of the row and had a GREAT view of the front of the stage, and would be happy there again... but donāt want Spawn to miss out on the full experience.
So many decisions to make and only another 24 hours to figure out which to go with!
