"I think perfect happiness is when you really love yourself; if you love yourself then you don't have any kind of fear - you are fearless. It's actually my biggest wish in life - to lose my fear. I believe that fear is something that holds you back. [...] If you think about fear, you have to go back to childhood to figure out what is going on in your life - you have to confront it to see why and what's happening.

The thing is, when you were a child, you didn't have any kind of fear and all of a sudden, when you grow up, you become frightened of certain things. It's a painful process, but I want to do it."

It's been 24 years since this quote from Richard's interview with Rock Sound, and yet I find it still quite telling - how he views happiness and the overall work a person has to go through to overcome things. For his 59th birthday, I wish Richard that he has reached this point he set out to accomplish, or that he has now at least come very close to it.
