Doctor
Carmen Basillio vs Sugar Ray Robinson. Carmen Basilio won the first fight, and then Robinson won the rematch. Both fights were so close it's impossible to say who really won. Both fighters had a lot of guts, especially Basilio who had one eye swollen shut and cut.
Agree and disagree. Sometimes saying something politically incorrect can break down walls. Look at George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Louie CK, Ricky Gervais, Penn and Teller's Bullshit, Matt Stone and Trey Parker. They all say stuff that could be taken as offensive, (to those who lack critical thinking abilities). But the end message is profoundly positive.
Sometimes being politically correct can build walls around us. When we're too caught up in, "can't say this have to say that" we lose touch of the reason. Having a reason let's us have empathy and understanding. Without reason, it become just another made up bull shit rule.
A good example of made up "pc" bullshit is geek vs nerd. Back a few years ago when it started to be "cool" to be a nerd, some found the term "nerd" offensive, and preferred the term geek. (Maybe I have it backwards, I have a hard time paying attention to bull shit). To be "pc" you'd say geek. If you said nerd, then you were a giant asshole.
That type of "pc" bull shit only separates us as people.
eaudedaddyissues:
if you say this i am pretty sure i never want to associate with you everÂ
PC is this buzzword used to invalidate and silence and derail any argument about oppression everÂ
it makes social justice out to be some wacky fad that all the cool kids are into, and you’re being rebellious by not falling into the peer pressure or whatever
when actually it is the opposite, fucking no one likes you when you promote social justice. in fact you get a lot of shit for it! but for some reason people like to pretend that you’re in the majority if you’re committed to social justice
and politically correct is the worst fucking term, not just because it’s dismissive, but because it narrows down the whole social justice spectrum to this idea that it’s about being polite instead of about dismantling the oppressive social structure of power
fun fact when you actively avoid being “PC” you’re not being forward-thinking or unique. you’re buying into systems of oppression that have existed since before you were even born, and you’re keeping those systems in place, and you’re fuckinghurting peopleÂ
you’re willfully shutting them out with the dismissal that they’re just being fucking PC instead of trying to take control over shit that hurts them, and you, and fucking everyoneÂ
so fuck you if you believe that ~political correctness~ is a great fucking evil you’re vanquishing by continuing to be an oppressive douchefuck
