A to Z of Borneo

I am an unplanned traveller and a forgetful one at that. To deal with my short term memory loss I decided to document all my travels. I was introduced to GoPro and there was nothing stopping me from there on.  6 months back, there was an online travel contest - Grab Your Dream by Cox & Kings India, G Adventure and EzeeGo1 where the winner could walk away with an all expense trip in a foreign land. Being the winner of Season 1, I was sent to discover the hidden treasures of Borneo. After 2 weeks in Borneo, I was back with 120GB of data, new friends and a new haircut. It's taken me over a month to sort through everything I could possibly capture about Borneo. My aim has been to portray Borneo just the way it is, to share with people about this almost hidden treasure. Because it could be unfair to miss out on any experience Borneo gave me, it could be unfair to not tell the world about "The A to Z of Borneo."

Kshama's music player, Surendra's bike helmets, our T2, and now during my trip to Borneo I lost something valuable - Gopro dual battery charger, 8 GB data and my sisters iPad went down the drain. 

Dear Sis,

You were right when you were skeptical about giving me the iPad. You know me so well and once again I stand by your expectations. Afraid of breaking the news to you I recorded the event and my feelings at that time. thought a video will be easier but later I was afraid of sharing it.

Today on #mensday :p. I want to say I am sorry and on your B'day I will gift you a new one :)

Cooking

Planning to go camping but hate carrying utensils? Are you bored of the same old barbecue parties? Does your stove and kadai takes up all the space in your car. Have no fear Borneo's Bamboo Chicken here :D Starring:  Chicken in lead role supported by herbs and spices and Banana steam as cooking utensil. Along with a heavy dose of love.  Important: Don't forget the matchsticks for fire or you can always trust your wild instinct.

Beach, Boats and Bird watching

The journey from Aksa Beach to Bak Bak Beach in Kudat was a surprising shock. The clear water, white sand, clean beach made me scream and shout like a kid; "Ohh I can see my legs, I can see me legs, wow." 

Visit to Kudat port (the Northern tip of Borneo) was a reward. For miles and miles all you can see is lines of beautiful beaches, some of which are excellent for surfing and snorkelling. Also, the collaboration with GAdventures gave me an opportunity of being a certified volunteer in Beach Clean up Project (definitely the icing on the cake).  I also enjoyed a variety of different means of transport from narrow boats in shallow water to big motor boats in Wetlands. 

PS: Oh! I learnt an important lesson of my life - Patience.  Nothing survives you during your Bird watching session but patience (a hard hard lesson to learn). #confession of a #restless #traveller.

Architecture - While driving towards Tip of Borneo I couldn't keep my camera down. The Mosque looks distinctly different to the one in India. One of the most unique experiences in Borneo was a visit to the longhouse. They are built raised off the ground on stilts to tackle flood situations. The areas where flooding is not a problem, the space beneath the longhouse between the stilts has been converted into living accommodation. Commercial buildings in city (Kota Kinabalu) resembles to the one in India - a typical Le Meridian Hotel and other office buildings
