I think it’s really easy, if anyone knew about what she and Sam were up to in this verse, for people to cry ‘daddy issues’, but that’s not the case at all. Brittany has her mom’s free spirit and looks very much like her, but she has always had a very special relationship with her dad. She’s had him wrapped around her finger since she was born. Fishing trips in the summer have always been their thing and she still makes it a point to get home and get in at least one long trip. Lying to her dad on their weekly phone calls about what’s going on in her life once she and Sam start up their relationship takes a toll on her, but as soon as she finds out he’s married it’s the life lessons her father has taught her that causes her to drop Sam like a hot potato— no matter how great the sex is.
⌛️
⌛: the voicemail my muse leaves on your phone when your muse hasn’t been heard from for the fifth night this week
VOICEMAIL 1: “Hey, it’s me... Brittany. So I haven’t heard from you in a few days and... um... I just wanted to make sure you’re okay. If you’re like me you’ve probably been going out with friends and, like, getting wasted and just trying to not feel crappy. So yeah... just text me or something so I know you’re okay. Bye.”VOICEMAIL 2:“It’s me again. Look, I get it. If anyone out there in the whole wide world gets it then it’s me. We can be miserable and wallow together. I was thinking of burning all the shit that reminds me of him... you can burn stuff too. Even if you don’t you need to just let me know you’re alright otherwise I’m coming to your place and beating your door down or lying to a locksmith that I’m your wife or something. I’m giving you an hour.”
"I've got a bad feeling about this."
Brittany switched off the music after showing him the choreography for their upcoming Tango with one of the other male dancers. Luckily he took the hint and excused himself from the room for a moment. “Why?” she asked before going down and sitting next to him on the cool wooden floor. “The Tango is all about being confident and sexy... you don’t have an issue with either of those things.” As soon as she’d finished saying the words it dawned on her that she’d essentially called him sexy. “I mean, you know... it appears that way... on camera.” She was stumbling over her words when in reality she did think he was sexy, so there really wasn’t any point in hiding that she thought that, right?
She paused for a moment, closed her eyes and let out a puff of breath. “You are sexy. And confident.” As she sat there and looked over at her partner their shared gaze felt intense, but not in uncomfortable way. Her eyes stayed locked with his for a while, how long she wasn’t sure, but something in the way he looked at her made her think that maybe he thought she was sexy too. Just the thought of it made her smile over at him. “What?” she asked, breaking the silence and wondering if he was going to give anything away.

Send me ‘💍’ for our muses to wake up married after a night of heavy drinking
The light streaming through their motel window was shining directly onto Brittany’s face and as she began to stir had a ‘when am I’ moment. It took a few minutes for her brain to begin to piece things together. They’d stopped in Las Vegas, initially Sam had planned to pass it by being that they weren’t 21, but with a little persuading on Brittany’s part he’d changed his mind. It was Vegas and while maybe they couldn’t gamble it couldn’t be that hard to score some alcohol somewhere. They could drink a little, take an Uber to walk up and down the strip just to see it and then catch a ride back to their motel. Apparently they’d had a little more to drink than they’d intended because as Brittany sat up in bed, swung her legs over the edge and stood up her head started pounding.
A shower... that’s what she needed. She needed to chug a bottle of water, toss back a couple of ibuprofen and take a long, hot shower. Brittany smirked over at Sam as she bent down to retrieve her water from the mini fridge. He was sprawled out in the bed she’d just arisen from. They’d taken to sharing a bed lately more often than not. Not in a sexual way, but just because they wanted to sleep together so they did. Despite the throbbing in her head she smiled and headed into the bathroom, stripping out of her clothes and turning on the shower. She’d only been enjoying the hot water streaming down on her for a few moments when she felt something— something unfamiliar. Her hands had been wiping the excess water away from her face so that she could see to grab some shampoo when she felt it. Just to make sure she wasn’t crazy, imagining things or still a little drunk without looking Brittany rubbed the middle finger of her left hand against her ring finger. Fuck.
In a flash she turned off the water, hopped out of the shower and snatched a neatly folded towel where it was perched on a wire shelf above the toilet and wrapped it around herself. Finally she brought her left hand up to confirm with her own two eyes what she’d already felt with her fingers. Double fuck. There it was: a wedding band. How drunk had then been? Her heart was pounding and suddenly she felt sick to her stomach. At least now her head wasn’t hurting so bad anymore. Married. They were married. They’d turned into every single cliched movie about Vegas that had ever been made. Why couldn’t she remember? Maybe Sam remembered. Brittany practically flew out of the bathroom and back into their room. “Sam... Sam! SAM!” She hadn’t meant to yell, but she was starting to panic. All she could do was hold up her left hand in front of his face with her shiny new wedding band on display. “Did we... are we married?” She awaited his response and bit her tongue because it was taking him forever to wake up and answer her. Slowly but surely he came to much in the manner that she had earlier and without a word raised up his left hand to show her that he was sporting a band identical to hers on the ring finger of his left hand.
"That's why I did it, so that you'd miss me."
Even though Brittany had been moved off of Sam’s rotation that didn’t stop her from keeping tabs on him during her shifts. The nurse who had taken her place, a close friend, would text her throughout the day with updates. Sure, there were other great nurses on the ward, but none of them knew Sam’s case the way that she did. So when she heard a code blue being called on the opposite end of the floor accompanied by a 911 text from her co-worker Brittany was running as hard and fast as she could to Sam’s room. Once she was in his room everything was a blur. She didn’t remember taking the paddles, charging them, calling out ‘clear’ and administering defibrillation. He needed a heart, like, yesterday. She didn’t want to think about what would happen if he couldn’t get his transplant soon. Things didn’t become clear again until Sam’s heart had resumed beating and he was speaking to her. “You know, you could have just called or texted me if you wanted to talk.” Brittany perched on the edge of his bed and tried not to let her emotions get the better of her. “You’re not allowed to do that again. Ever. And if you do next time I’m going to bring you back just so I can kill you for scaring me so bad.”
"I love you a lot, but please stop trying to cook me dinner, you suck.”
Instantly Brittany whipped around and shot him a death glare. It actually, surprisingly, hurt her feelings a lot more than she would’ve expected it to. She’d all but failed Home Ec., the only reason she’d really passed was because of Kurt helping her. It wasn’t a secret that she was terrible at cooking, but as she’d gotten to know Sam and his struggles since he came back to Lima she wanted to help as much as she could. He didn’t have a whole lot of time to make food on top of everything else he had going on and he’d mentioned a few times that despite Burt’s needs to be on a heart healthy diet, which Kurt stuck to when he cooked, that Carole’s cooking was very ‘Midwest’ most of the time. That was polite for really bad for you. She knew Sam wouldn’t say anything, but she also knew he needed to eat too. That was when Brittany took it upon herself to teach herself how to make healthy and delicious food just for Sam. Before she’d even considered feeding it to him she had practiced, finding that step by step videos online were much easier than written recipes. Her mom said that was because she was a visual learner.
“So you’ll force yourself to eat whatever at home because you’re trying to be polite, but you can’t be polite to me?” Brittany frowned and folded her arms in front of her. “If you don’t like it that’s fine, but I worked really hard. That was just...” she paused as if she was searching for the words before settling on the simplest description. “It was mean. I’ll see you at school tomorrow.”
"You. You're afraid."
“Can you blame me!? You’re not exactly small and you have to fit in there.” She sounded a little bit panicky. Tomorrow was the big day; her first anal scene and now she was sort of regretting agreeing to it. One of the only reasons she’d decided to go for it in the first place is because she’d be filming it with Sam. They’d experimented with it a little behind closed doors when it was just the two of them as Sam and Brittany not Riley and Trevor. They’d never fully gone through with it because Sam knew she was scared and half of the time she wasn’t sure she even wanted to until they were in the moment. “Maybe we should’ve done this for the first time on our own. Just us with no cameras.” She sighed and sank down onto the couch beside him and handed him a beer while taking a very large swig of her own. This movie would bring in a lot of viewers and a whole lot of money and fans had been asking forever... not that any of that should be the reason why she did it. “What if I postpone it for a month or two? Just... tell me what to do.”
"Our kid is totally the one who wanted to build a pillow fort, not me."
“Mmhmm,” she hummed in a teasing tone as she dropped her purse and keys on the table in their entryway. There was no explanation needed, pillow forts were one of her favorite things. Their son tended to get his way quite often, but they’d fought to have him and much earlier than they’d ever intended to. “You can’t blame your need for pillow forts on our kid,” she teased. Brittany instantly dropped down to crawl inside the fort with her husband and their three-year-old who was snoozing away. “Are we having a family sleepover in the fort?” Sleeping on their living room floor wasn’t as comfortable as their bed, but if anyone knew how valuable time was with your loved ones it was them. One night on the floor wasn’t going to hurt her forever, just a sore back for a day... maybe. “If we are I vote we sneak snacks in here,” she said quietly so that she didn’t wake their kiddo. “Popcorn and ice cream for sure.”
I loved you so much, I forgot what it felt like to hate myself.
Brittany couldn’t possibly understand what he’d been through and she couldn’t try to process it by talking to anyone except for Sam. Anyone else would think she was completely insane. She thought he was insane at first, honestly. “You shouldn’t hate yourself. I mean... I hope you don’t anymore. I can remind you everyday how great you are.” He didn’t seem to want to talk about their time together in the past beyond him finding her time after time. It made her feel like maybe things didn’t turn out the way he’d hoped, but she wasn’t going to dwell on that if he wasn’t. “I definitely don’t hate you.”
You knew I wasn’t perfect, but I tried to be for you.
“I... what?” His head was swimming. What was she even talking about? “I never expected you to be perfect. I just expected you to be you. The girl I talked to on the app.” They had just spent a great day together in a literal paradise and he thought it had gone pretty damn close to perfectly, but now he was starting to think that maybe he’d been wrong. “What’s up? Where’s this coming from?” After missing each other quite a few times on the app Tinder had flown them out to Hawaii to finally meet, something he’d never expected. Ever. The basis of the app was to date... hook up... it depended on who you talked to, but in all of their missed connections he’d come to care for this girl. If she wasn’t having fun he didn’t want her to keep putting on some show or whatever it was she was doing. “Talk to me.”
"So, how should we break the news that they’re going to have a new baby brother or sister?"
They’d talked about having a baby together just not anytime soon, so the fact that she was pregnant was definitely a surprise. It was a happy surprise though and after the initial shock of it all they were both overjoyed. They were together, crazy in love, Madeline loved her and now they had a sweet little baby on the way. “First, you know she’s going to demand it be a sister. She’s been on you and Quinn, and now us, to give her a baby sister since I’ve known her. But... I think we should just sit down with her and tell her?” Madeline was relatively mature for her age. It didn’t seem like they needed to figure out some creative way to tell her or anything. “Does she know about where babies come from because she might ask that.” Brittany remembered how her parents had fed her a line about the stork and then continued to feed it to her until much too late in life. That was only a little awkward. “Do we need to tell Quinn first? Does Quinn know?”
"I beat you at Mario Kart and now you're banishing me to the couch for the night?”
“I’m too devastated by your victory to look at you,” she answered before collapsing onto her bed in mock depression. “You come into my home and you beat me at my own game.” She propped herself up on the bed with her elbows and shook her head at him making a ‘tsk tsk’ sound.
They’d had the day from hell at work. It was so terrible that hell didn’t even properly describe it. Every single thing that could go wrong went wrong and it seemed as if every asshole within a 50 mile radius had decided to come in today to just make it even worse. At the end of their shift the two of them had stood in the parking lot, waves of anger and stress just rolling off their bodies. Brittany refused to let the day end that way so she’d extended an invitation to Sam. There was a 24 hour grocery store by her apartment and if they hurried they would have enough time to buy some alcohol and some food. Back at her place they’d watched a movie, ate, drank and then decided to end the night with some Mario Kart before deciding that it was best if Sam spent the night.
In truth she wouldn’t mind having Sam in her bed, she did have a little crush on him but they worked together and she didn’t want to make things weird. Now that he was kind of suggesting it though… “Fine,” she sighed with a teasing eye roll, “you can share my bed. I’m warning you though that I cuddle and some people have told me that I’m pretty awesome at it.”

Send ☺for our characters baking cookies together.
They’d been back home from traveling the world for only about a day and a half and Brittany couldn’t seem to get off of international time. It was just after one in the morning when she’d texted Sam.
Are you up?
He’d responded back pretty quickly that he was and that he was bored. After traveling for as long as they had been they were both happy to be back home, but it was going to take a while to get back to normal. Once she knew that Sam was awake Brittany had called him up and ultimately invited herself over. On the way she stopped off at the store, not really sure what he had in the way of food since they’d just been gone for so long. She grabbed something for breakfast because it was that time of day for them, a few snacks and the ingredients to bake chocolate chip cookies. They just sounded too good to pass up.
“I stopped at the store,” she informed him as she breezed into his place, “and we’re going to have dessert first because I feel like it.” Sam didn’t protest. He helped her find her way around his kitchen, assisting her in measuring out ingredients into the bowl until they had their cookie dough. “There, we’ve got about 10 or so minutes until those come out of the oven.” She reached into the bowl of cookie dough and swiped her finger along the rim before popping it into her mouth. Eating the raw dough was one of the best parts.
“I know what we could do for ten minutes.”
Before Brittany could open her mouth to say anything Sam was picking her up, on arm around her waist and the other scooping beneath her thighs to lift her up onto his counter. They began kissing each other hungrily as she wrapped her arms around his neck. Jet lag was turning out to be kind of awesome.
"You know what would be a great way to end this night? You and me, our clothes on the bedroom floor... get what I'm hinting at?"
Brittany stood with her mouth hanging open for a few moments as she looked over at Sam perched on the edge of the bed. They’d been having sleepovers for months now and at first they had started off as legitimate sleepovers, but at some point they’d become more— an unspoken more. Sam and Brittany weren’t official, Sam wasn’t ready for that and she’d told Brittany the moment that they’d made out one night. The story about her past school came out and the real reason why she’d transferred to McKinley. If time was what Sam needed then that’s what Brittany was going to give her. She’d been careful about making sure they were perceived as just friends at school and she’d taken care to not push the boundaries when they were alone together and try to take cues from Sam.
Finally she closed her mouth and shut Sam’s bedroom door behind her. What she’d expected was their usual Friday night; a movie... probably Marvel because it was Sam’s turn to pick, a bag of Cooler Ranch Doritos, Dr. Pepper and popcorn with Sour Patch Kids mixed in. They always started off sitting up on Sam’s bed, backs propped against the wall with pillows behind them and then the shifting started. Slowly but surely they’d inch closer and closer together, legs brushing together, fingers intertwining and touching each other’s skin lightly. After their movie was over they’d end up lying in bed side by side, faces close together while they spoke in hushed tones and tried to muffle their laughter. In recent weeks kisses were exchanged.
“Really?” She couldn’t mask her excitement, Sam was hot and she’d wanted her for awhile now. Brittany didn’t waste any time striding over to the bed to join her. “And I totally get what you’re hinting at.” That being said Brittany leaned in and pressed her lips to Sam’s.

who starts snowball fights? Will for sure.
who’s the one that wakes the other on christmas morning by playing christmas songs really loudly? Will, to be completely obnoxious.
INK AND IRISES
who starts putting up decorations in october? Brittany, although it’s sort of due to her job. She has to constantly be thinking ahead for orders.
who buys the advent calendars? Tina, but she doesn’t buy candy ones. She seems to find cool ones that have other things in them like advent socks or toys.

who knows all the words to twelve days of christmas? They both do, although Tina is a little less exuberant about it than Brittany.
who’s the better snowman builder? Brittany, but Tina gives input on how to decorate it.
who starts snowball fights? Tina.
who’s the one that wakes the other on christmas morning by playing christmas songs really loudly? Brittany.
IT’S JUST A BRO JOB

who buys the advent calendars? Sam’s mom sends them some in a care package.
who places mistletoes all around the house? Sam would if he didn’t think Puck would immediately pull it down.

who puts the final star/angel on the top of the christmas tree? Sam, Puck just supervises mostly.
who’s the one that hates eggnog? I don’t see either of them liking it.

who’s the better snowman builder? Sam.
who starts snowball fights? They both do.
who’s the one that wakes the other on christmas morning by playing christmas songs really loudly? I’d say Sam, but it depends how late he worked the night before. One of the bonuses of not having kids is getting to sleep in as late as they want and celebrate Christmas between the sheets before getting to the presents.
“Hey baby, I noticed you noticing me and I just wanted to put you on notice that I noticed you too.”
Brittany raised her eyebrows at the new guy in the office... she was pretty sure his name was Sam. He was very drunk, maybe borderline wasted and even though she barely knew him it was cause for concern. Being this drunk didn’t exactly seem like him. She took his hand in her and pulled him away from the company party, pulling him down beside her on a couch in the employee lounge. “Thanks for noticing?” Normally she would’ve given him shit because she was most definitely not noticing him, he wasn’t even close to her type, but now didn’t really seem like the time nor place for it.
“What’s new pussycat?” Something had to have happened for him to be in this state at his first company party. “Work troubles? Friend troubles? Girl troubles? Welcome to the safe space couch,” she gestured to the piece of furniture they were sitting on, “now tell me your issues and we’ll work through them because as fun as getting drunk is... this probably isn’t the best place to forget your worries at the bottom of a bottle.”
