Do you have any advice for people planning an adaption fic?

Well, one of the biggest things I like to do for when I adapt is to keep things pretty similar, but lean things a little to the left. Basically respecting the source material while also putting my own spin on it. Like yeah, Shen has guilt from Theodore’s death like Shou had for Big Bear, but in Supernova it was also because he was his adoptive father, for instance.
