Hug me using shadow and vio, from the AU
[[oh yes i am HERE for shadow being good friends with them!! it just takes some time is all. time and a lot of patience.]]
He hates blood moons. Fucking hates them with everything he’s got. He hates himself for ever getting into this mess. And he really really hates blood moons.
They leave him feeling so helpless. Who could feel otherwise, having to go through something like that? He’s got no autonomy, not during, not for days afterward. He has to rely on other people to take care of him, and even that’s a risk that few are willing to take; who knows when it’ll happen, and who knows if he’ll snap?
“You are sulking,” Vio says when he comes in, a tray laden with the morning’s breakfast.
“What else am I supposed to do? I’m stuck in this stupid goddamn house ‘til my legs feel like working again. No offense to your house.”
“I doubt feeling sorry for yourself will make the situation any better.” He waits for Shadow to make him room on the bed, then sits down and divides the food among them. “If anything, be grateful you haven’t been used as a puppet lately.”
“Oh yeah, I’m real grateful,” Shadow sneers, spears an egg with his fork with far more aggression than Vio thinks is necessary. “So grateful that I get the fucking life sucked out of me every two two months. What’s not to be grateful for, huh? Everything’s just fucking fan-tastic.”
Vio lets him vent, eats in silence and waits for him to talk himself out. It will happen eventually- it always does.
“I don’t think you understand,” He says, between bites, and Vio chastises him for talking with his mouth full, “How much it fucking sucks!”
“I probably don’t,” Vio agrees, amicably. It is, after all, accurate. “Though I do empathize with burnout, at the least.”
When Shadow pushes his plate away (aggressively), Vio goes downstairs and refills it, and insists that he finish it.
“You are recovering. Eat. An empty stomach will do you no good.”
Shadow is quiet as he does, which is a little concerning, given his love for yelling about things.
“I don’t mean to be a bitch about this,” He says, after a while. “‘N I’m sorry if it seems like I’m mad at you. I’m pissed off at myself. For being such a dumbass.”
“People make rash decisions, when they’re young. You are not entirely to blame.”
Vio shrugs. “It can be argued both ways. I will not fight you on it. Really, it is up to you to decide that. I only warn you that killing yourself over it will solve nothing.”
Shadow gives him a look that’s half a glare and unreadable. “You’re pissing me off.”
“You’re just so damn calm about it!” He huffs an irritated breath. “I wish I was like that. Oh, this guy’s a fuckin’ ex-Yiga? No problem! He gets possessed by Ganon twice a goddess-damned year? Whatever! A day in the fucking life, I guess!”
Inappropriate though it is, that gets a laugh out of Vio. “That is not exactly how it is. But it is learned, and it is not for everyone.”
“You make me really fuckin’ angry, you know that?” Still, he seems to ease a little. “Some sheikah I am, right?”
“That hardly defines you.”
“It is not always a bad thing.”
“Says you.” He’s scowling at the wall like he’s trying to glare a hole in it. “I’d punch something if I could feel my hands.”
Vio sighs. “Come here,” He says, and offers his arms.
“What?” Shadow is very clearly caught off-guard by it.
“Don’t be dense. Come on. Before I change my mind and get Blue in here to hit some sense into you.”
That isn’t a prospect he looks eagerly upon. So he accepts, rests his head on Vio’s shoulder and tries not to betray his confusion. Vio generally does not go around offering people hugs.
“We are trying to fix this,” He says, reassuringly. “But we cannot do that if you constantly fighting yourself over it.”
“Yeah, well, it’s hard not to,” He mutters. “Shouldn’t have to worry about this in the first place.”
Vio smooths his hair down with a hand, then pulls away and gives him a serious look. “Do not dwell on it. That will be the easiest way to fail before we have begun.”
He sighs, leans back into the pillows and closes his eyes. “Stop acting so wise or I’ll have to hit you.”
