why does this have 32k notes? it’s just a picture of a knife in a ranch bottle, is there some unspoken joke that 32 thousand people share? what is going on here, i dont get it. it’s just a fucking picture of a knife in a ranch bottle. is there some spiritual connection people have to this picture? is there some ominous and mystical reasoning that this has 32 thousand notes? do people reblog this because it makes them look like some indie blogger? or is there just something funny to this? someone please explain

Happy Threshold Day!!!
A Star Trek Christmas Poem
‘Twas the night before Chrismas, and all through the ship,
Not a sound could be heard, not even a blip.
The bridge crew were steady at their posts through the night,
When suddenly before them: a bright blinding light!
“On screen, Mr. Sulu,” called Kirk in alarm
As Spock began analyzing, his PADD on his arm.
“Captain,” spoke he with a quirk of his brow,
“I believe– but it can’t be. I don’t see how.”
“What is it?” asked the captain with his usual charm.
“Are we in any danger? Shall I sound the alarm?”
“Sir,” quoth Uhura, her hand on her ear.
“We’re being hailed! Captain… I think you should hear.”
She knew what to do when she saw his reply,
A firm nod of his head, determined gleam in his eye.
With a flick of her wrist and a flip of her hair,
She broadcast the signal and turned in her chair.
“Enterprise!” came the voice, booming with glee.
“Imagine seeing you here, out near Pheta 3!”
Kirk and Spock shared a glance, cautious and wry,
Before Kirk opened his mouth to give forth his reply.
“You know us?” he asked the mysterious man.
“Of course! I know everyone, in every land!”
“How?” asked McCoy from the back of the crew;
He had been on his way up and arrived quite confused.
“It’s my job,” said the voice with a chuckle of glee,
“And if you think hard enough, you’ll find you all know me.”
“It can’t be,” said Spock, bewildered and soft.
“Wait a second,” said Sulu as Uhura scoffed.
“Santa?!” they all cried at once with a start.
Chekov looked up to Kirk, and spoke his part:
“But Keptin,” he asked with a frown on his face,
“Zere is no proof of a Santa– not ewen a trace!”
“Am I not proof enough?” asked the the voice with a sigh.
“Well, if proof’s what you need–” and a blur then zipped by.
A flash of an antler, the side of a sleigh–
A loud, “Ho Ho Ho!” as he sped back their way.
“He’s real,” Spock chimed in, “the scanners do not lie.”
Then Kirk: “We don’t know for sure… who is this guy?”
The voice spoke once more, “There’s no way to be sure–
“There’s only belief. Hope, simple and pure.”
Quick as he came he was gone in a flash,
The last that they saw, the trail of a red sash.
Silence took over the bridge as they sat,
Pondering what they’d been told, and with that
Kirk spoke from his seat with a clap of his hands,
“We’ve seen stranger things– I say he was the man!”
“Fair ‘nough,” said the Doctor with a shrug and a nod.
“Compared to what we’ve been through? Not quite so odd.”
The others gave their agreement, returned to their posts.
They had seen Santa Claus– or an alien, or ghost.
But whatever they’d seen and whatever the reason,
They all felt the glow of the holiday season.
As they returned to their tasks, the stars zipping by all the while,
Each of them felt on their faces a smile.
And as the shift came to a close and they all said their goodbyes,
Kirk bid them adieu with, “Merry Christmas, you guys.”

When discussing the life of Ada Lovelace, folks often mention that Ada’s mother made a point of educating her in mathematics and science in an effort to prevent her from turning out like her father, Lord Byron; it’s this upbringing which eventually lead to Lovelace’s pioneering work in computer science.
What folks don’t often mention is that after inventing computer programming, Lovelace went on to build a career using her newly devised mathematical theories to cheat at gambling, eventually ending up hilariously in debt as a result.
In other words, not only did her mathematical education fail to prevent her from following in her father’s footsteps, it only made her stronger.
