Ollie turned 13 November 12th 2020 and Ziggy is turning 6 March 31st 2021
We got Ollie from my mom when Violet was almost 3 and Ollie was almost 2. He grew up in Stanfield oregon and was from a large pack. They use to all run together through a field barking! Lol. I can picture a bunch of long haired dauchunds running and barking. Ollie was the runt when my mom bought him from a farmer when he was weeks old. His mom had rejected him from feedings. Ollie spend the first 2 years of his life traveling in his comfy travel bag on trains going to Seattle and other adventures. To this day when he sees a suitcase he gets super excited and tries to sit in it! He is a true hiking outdoors camping kind of dog!
Ziggy came to us unexpectedly just like his dad did. One day Diadon and the kids were walking back from the park when they noticed a friendly small gray chihuahua following them. I was in class at PCC when Diadon sent me a photo of him trotting along behind him captioned "um, wtf lol".
I immediately thought, please take him home!!! They did as the kids were begging, 😆 We looked for the owners for months and finally accepted he would be ours. We named the little gray chihuahua Sage. A little over a year later a man and women stopped their van outside our house and stared at Sage playing in the yard. We knew we had found his owners :-( it was obviously that sage, actually really named Chico, was seeing his real mom and dad. It was so sad to see him go! They had been looking for him the entire time and it turns out they only live a few blocks away.
A day later they came back to our house and thanked us profusely for taking such good care of him. They told us that he would be having a liter soon with his girlfriend. Lol.
They asked if we would want one of the purebred apple head chihuahuas for taking such good care of Chico! We said yes but were hesitant to believe they would just give us one. Sage is gray and the mom is black.
A few months later they knocked on the door with puppies and asked, girl or boy? It was the best day and we said yes to a little black fur ball!
I sent a picture to Diadon with ziggy fitting in to one of my hands, so so small! He replied with, wtf is that! Lol. He didn't want another dog at this point.
Needless to say Diadon fell in love immediately with Ziggy and the rest is history!
At first Ollie was super offended and rejected the fur ball! It took a few months for Ollie to come to terms that he had a new little brother. Ollie spent his first 7 years thinking he was one of our cats! So you can see how he felt imposed upon. Our cats were pissed as well and easily the size of Ollie. Pretty sure they thought Ziggy was a toy at first.
Eventually everyone got along and we all lived happily ever after 🥲
