pomegranate: when do you feel the most confident?

Bran has always been the most comfortable behind a book, or a computer screen. That’s where they could learn, and grow, and speak, without anyone seeing their wheelchair, or the strange amalgamation of clothing they chose to put on that day. Behind a computer screen, they’re simply a name, and a talent involved with creating games, and apps, that bring people joy in a way Bran has never quite felt.

nectarine: would you consider yourself an emotional person?

“No.” Emotions simply weren’t something that Bran understood. It isn’t that they’re emotionless, just that they’d learned at a young age that it was easier simply not to have them. Not if they could help it. Which only makes it all the more devastating when they do end up being overwhelmed with their emotions and promptly shut down.

Work had been hell. Cersei gave her a few days of after her father had been killed but it seems like her boss’ generosity had run dry; the woman had Sansa running all over London finalizing the photoshoots for the next two weeks and meeting with their social media manager about optimizing the posts leading up International Women’s Day. She detested working with the current social media manager - mostly because she had been vying for the other woman’s job for nearly a year but partially because she didn’t listen to damn thing Sansa had to say.

By the time she made it back to her flat, the only she wanted to do was watch the Great British Baking Show - she had a whole season to catch up on - and nurse a whole bottle of sweet red wine she got yesterday. However, she was only home for half an hour when she heard a knock. Heels kicked off and wine glass in hand, Sansa opened the door to see the younger Stark.

“Bran!” She beamed, opening the door wider to let them in. “Please, come in, love. How are you?” She asked, muting the show as Lady came out of her hiding spot behind the arm chair to nose her muzzle at Bran’s hand.

Bran wasn’t typically one for spontaneity. There always tended to be a reason for what they did at any particular time, but since the sudden death of their father--nothing was really the same. Each of their siblings seemed to be taking the death a different way, and Bran had their own problems. They simply tended to process things differently than the rest, and keeping an extra close eye on their siblings (so they didn’t have to focus so much on themself) was Bran’s way of coping. And why they had ended up in front of Sansa’s door, unannounced.

Bran had a standing invitation at all of their sibling’s houses, but they rarely took any up on it, other than Arya, and Sansa’s standing weekly dinner, where she did her best to surprise Bran and Rickon’s palate. The dinner night was still two days away, so didn’t explain why Bran was there, out of the blue, and scratching dutifully under Lady’s chin as their eyes strayed over Sansa’s shoulder, “Been better.” Moving easily inside the flat, they let their gaze track over every found object until they found their prize, Sansa’s phone. This was the real reason Bran had stopped by that night, needing access to her phone, but without her knowing. A task that would have been impossible if she was still working, but easy if Bran could distract her long enough in her apartment to get their hands on it. “Did I interrupt something?”

“Why are we here again? When you said we were going out, I assumed we were getting junk food and watching a movie, not....this.” Bran didn’t often leave their apartment, not if they didn’t have to, preferring to keep to their own devices. They remained inside, other than the occasional work meeting, or by being dragged out by one of their siblings. When Arya had showed up that morning, out of the blue, Bran only had to take one look at her face to grab their things and follow her wherever she lead. They simply hadn’t expected to end up here.

I enjoy controlled loneliness. I like wandering around the city alone. I’m not afraid of coming back to an empty flat and lying down in an empty bed. I’m afraid of having no one to miss, of having no one to love.
