I wouldn't call this place little but it's certainly a gem. The coffee was solid, I probably should've gotten a cappuccino but I was commited to the cause. It didn't disappoint, but the food! The food was what made it great. If you're out this way, it's definitely worth a stop but the city being Melbourne there is no shortage of options that are just as good.

Sensory Lab https://www.facebook.com/SensoryLab/ One of my favourite ever places. This place has become a pilgrimage of sorts every time I'm in Melbourne. The coffee is to die for and the carrot cake is absolutely incredible. The fact that things are science themed is just a bonus that makes me love this place even more. I don't have enough words to praise them, go check them out if you're in the area.

Well Co. Cafe https://www.facebook.com/WellCoCafe/ A pretty chill spot to catch up with people. What's great is that they're open late and have coffee cocktails. While I didn't get a chance to test them out (#quidditchlife), the coffee did enough for me to wanna go back. Theres not much you can get wrong with an iced latte, but if you do it's criminal. These guys did alright, I'd like to give 'em another look before passing judgement though.

Local MBassy https://www.facebook.com/localmbassy/ I'd walked past this place countless times before I actually went in. I think I just needed some company really. It's a nice and cozy spot with good looking food. Not too expensive and the fact that they make a red velvet frappe that isn't diabetes in a mug is an added bonus. The coffee is was great, and they have the sense of giving you a good amount of ice cream to counteract the bitterness that invariably sneaks in. I'd walk a few kilometers to go here and I'd recommend the same to everyone. Give 'em a look guys, seriously!

Pier 8 Cafe https://www.facebook.com/Pier8Cafe/ This place was a random find, that we stumbled upon cause Google said it was close by and good. Google as usual didn't lie. The food and coffee was top notch, but it was a bit on the pricey side for my liking. The iced latte I got was pretty spot on, the coffee was just the right amount of bitter while still having the texture of all that milk. Loved all of it, but the staff was a bit blunt and I personally would probably not venture out there again considering it is pretty far out of everyone's way. Give it a look though, for sure.

Mug Life https://www.facebook.com/muglifespecialtybeverage/ I'd been itching to go here ever since I discovered they had a nitrogen cooled iced coffee on tap. I'll just let those words sink in a bit. The drink just sounds so out there and it is in a way because I've never tasted anything like it. The drink is effectively an iced americano but has a unique smoothness to it that you can normally only achieve when serving americanos hot. The Rnb/hiphop vibe to the place definitely caught my eye and made the whole experience amazing. To go with this, these guys have amazing milkshakes and great doughnuts. I wasn't able to try the variety cheese toasties on the menu but they looked delicious. Overall I'm gonna make this place one of my more usual haunts and recommend it to everyone who loves coffee, tupac or music references.

Phoodle https://www.facebook.com/phoodle.eatery/ I can't begin to describe how amazing this place is. The Vietnamese coffee here is the best I've had (apart from Vietnam of course). It's a strong shot with the perfect amount of condensed milk to give it a rich texture and amazing flavour. Further, the food is off the hook. If you are the area and you need to eat, this is the place to go. NOT EVEN KIDDING! Seriously go here!

There isn't much left to say about the chocolate dessert makers. The food..good, the chocolate..good, the drinks..good The cost a bit much for my liking but it's not crazy. The affogato was actually surprisingly good, I don't have high expectations of their coffee and this certainly impressed. The shot wasn't burnt and had a good amount of crema plus the ice cream was pressed into the bottom of the cup which made for a different drinking experience. Theres plenty of chocolate places around if you wanna give chocolate desserts a shot but Max Brenner is a good safe bet that'll never disappoint.

Excelsior Jones https://www.facebook.com/ExclesiorJones/ A cafe that I've loved for a long time now, more for its amazing food but loved nonetheless. The coffee is not lacking in any way, you get a nearly perfect cup almost every time, and my affogato was just that. My only complaint was that they are a bit on the pricey side, even by Sydney standards. This joint is definitely one to hit up for breakfast or brunch. Trust me, you will love it.

Hide and Seek Cafe https://www.facebook.com/hideandseekcafe/ The reason this cafe is popular is that it has the unique feature of being child friendly. The play area is complete with sand pit and every other thing you'd expect in a small playground. The food is superb and they boast of a large and interesting menu. The coffee however is a disappointment, it was far too bitter and put a significant dent in the otherwise lovely meal. Overall, this is a decent place to give a look if you have kids or if someone in your family has kids (#mylife :P ). Otherwise, nothing special you could probs just skip it.

I've decided that cause it's boiling outside, I'm gonna hit up cafes in Sydney looking for the best Affogato or even some other iced coffee variety. I couldn't think of a better place to start than Goblin Kitchen and Bar. These guys are simply amazing. The coffee, the conversation and the atmosphere all add to the appeal.
